No it doesn't! Have you ever been to Glasgow? She's just doing a generic artificial vague 'Scottish' accent.

@@gsf5882 In the grand scheme of things mate. I AM a Glaswegian. Listen to all the Holywood Scottish accents, AND the English interpretations. Total exaggerations but no authenticity. I thought this was a decent attempt.

My ever so caring dear teacher, Sabrah, , I loved your lesson on the Scottish accent-hats off to you for explaining it so well! The doodle, doodle, butter, butter... I'm still trying to wrap my head around it! Honestly, if I ever make it to England or Scotland, I might just avoid speaking to a true Scot… I'd probably need subtitles! 😂 But your lessons make it all so much fun. Thanks for the laughs and the learning!"

Brilliant. You've nailed a (mild) Glaswegian accent. Try watching the TV series 'Rab C Nesbit' for a further challenge. I was brought up 20 miles from Glasgow and as a child remember being confused when my parents refered to my sisters as the "gulls" when the seagulls were flying about too. It became clear when I went school in Glasgow where I was also exposed to the Kelvinside accent which is not dissimilar to Edinburgh's Morningside accent (see The Prime oF Miss Jean Brodie). West Highland and Fife accents are also significantly different.

Really good accents there! Also, Head becomes Heed, dead becomes Deed. I have also noticed Now becomes Noo. No is Nee... I wonder if there are variations around the Glasgow area?

  • @Zimbrabim
    @Zimbrabim 2 месяца назад +1

Great summary, but you missed the substitution of "th" with "r", as in "hullawrer" instead of "hallo there", and "gonnae no do rat?" instead of "would you kindly desist?". For more, see the collected works of Francie and Josie (the late, lamented Jack Milroy and Rikki Fulton) and Stanley Baxter's Parliamo Glasgow sketches.

Hi Sabrah, my lovely, my eardrums' delight, my sunshine, my fave Rose of England, my Queen ! 🌹👑😊
I am speechless and impressed Sabe. Impressed by your unfathomable skills and talent regarding accents.
indeed, doing an accent, imitating is one thing and probably accessible with lots of hearing and a musical ear, but explaining it, analysing its features as you do and so accurately is another thing. This is quite remarkable and I find especially amazing the fact that you perform the accent while explaining.
I'll be honest, I found that one particularly difficult. I could hardly get a thing listening to the video extracts. I'll have to listen to them many times to achieve to understand without subtitles. But thanks to your precious help, I hope it gets better.
Or maybe I should do like Mel who, for his film, claimed he only needed an evening with Sean Connery, a meal, a discussion and way probably a bender with a few wee drams ;-), for getting the hang of the Scottish accent. I don't believe it; he was probably braggin' about and this is most probably a legend. I think that like all the other non-scots actors, he needed a few accent courses. On that note, I wanted to ask you if they (the non-scottish actors) did a good job regarding the accent on the film; what was you opinion as an english accent seasoned professional? ...
Can I ask what (other) movies you would advise me where the Scottish accent is featured (wholly or patially) if you have some that just pop like that into your head. Thank you! I though of Trainspotting which I loved but there are probably more...
Merci mille fois Sabrah, la leçon était belle, bien illustrée et géniale ! Big up to you! Grand bravo à toi ma belle ! 🙏🙏👏👏👍
L'accent Gallois pour la prochaine vidéo ? ...
Welsh accent next? would be great! 🙂
Kisses, bisous bisous my Sabe, Love 🥰❤❤❤🎸☮🕊

What? That was easy and clear though what the Scot parliamentarian said! He said:
"Can I ask you, honorable gentlemen, what work is being done to make sure this place is more accessible particularly for some of our colleagues who have a disability?"
Well Sabe, joke and subtitles aside ;-), I think that the member of the government (or whatever he was) to whom the question was addressed should ask the parliamentarian for a written version of his question so that he can answer it. 😂😂
