Looking forward to Part 5 :) It would be great if you could talk about controlling the horse without holding the reins, and how to keep from sending confusing signals with your body when shooting.
I was going to do part 5 yesterday but the timing didn't work out. Now it's raining... hopefully on Friday. Yes, I'll be talking about moving your horse around without the use of the reins.
She's a lot more patient than I would be having that odd sound of scratching plastic behind me. All your hourses seam really good from the videos I've seen.
She is cool, not worried about the arrows and easy going. As you say, "a lot of reassurance", maybe people do not reassure or praise their horses enough during the exercize they are doing. She does well. 👍🐎
Looking for info, maybe a link to the plastic bow you talk about through this series as well as some good starter arrows & targets. Also looking forward to #5. Thx for sharing. Can't wait to getting started.
Unless you're local, anything I put in likely won't help as I only purchase from a local store here. Targets can be anything really as long as it stops an arrow but isn't a wall. Arrows are going to depend on the bow you buy and the bow I bought here is from a shop called Boorman Archery, I have on idea of where to buy it otherwise unfortunately. Yes, #5 is coming!
Hello, I love your work! I have a question, I do horseback archery and just got an arabian gelding. He isn't scared of anything, He is usually really slow on an arena, he does everthing greatly. But there is a problem. We have a 100 m parkour that we only do horseback archery on. And he gets really fast and goes all out (7-8 secs on 100 meters or faster) And I cant do shit in that time 😅 Do you have any suggestions on how to get him to slow down?
Hi, thank you very much! I would maybe suggest working on audio cues perhaps. Something were you could get him to slow down based on a tone or word. The other thing I would suggest is asking for a particular gait and not settle for any changes until requested. That takes time for sure, but can be well worth it. With both of those tools in your belt, I'm sure you'd be able to get him on that track at a particular pace and make sure he maintains the requested pace (like a perpetual motion machine essentially) and if not then you have your audio cues to get him to slow down or stop and restart.

@@StableHorseTraining Thank you for this tip! I Will definitely try!
What size is your outdoor arena that you are using? I'm afraid mine is too small
It's about 180 x 80
Is there a part 5?
not yet, but it's coming!
