I really need the comfort of this Rock right now. This is the month my beautiful wife passed away 3 years ago at 57 years of age. I miss her so very much. We were married 36 and a half years. I was just thinking about this hymn. We sang it in the church I grew up in. I’m so glad I found this. Thank you for posting it.
I praise the Lord for the beautiful and heavenly voices. Yes indeed God is our present help in trouble and it is only through Him we can find ultimate peace and comfort.
Love hearing this classic hymn of the faith again. Contemporary worship has a place but wish we had more attention also to the timeless hymns in our repertoire.

While reading Psalms 61, the hymn Hiding in Thee comes to remembrance. Truly in all the storms of life, Jesus is our Rock, our sure foundation that will never fail. And he invites us to run to him for peace and safety.
Love these recordings of the old Haven of Rest Quartet! I also grew up hearing these and value the old, traditional format of their singing and the beautiful harmony , and not least of all, the wonderful words ! Can we buy cds with these old recordings ?

These songs written nearly over 150 and 250 years ago still minister to our hearts today can’t be anything but the inspiration of the Holy Spirit!
