      a lot of 8 bit remixes are made in fl studio or an actual daw with a plugin like magical8bit. personally i use lsdj and the limitations the gameboy has are very fun to work with

    Maybe its just me but this really sounds like a song in Maniac Mansion for nes. This is one of the most authentic 8bit remixes I have ever heard. You are awesome

      For full immersion, dont forget to switch back to 56k and an old phone line, after waiting 6 minutes for it to dial in, you get to wait another 45 minutes while it loads/buffers !!!
      Ha sarcasm, if it was an actual video i would agree, but its just text and music, why complain?

    I wish you did this on the SNES and used actual samples of the voices. That would've been even cooler IMO. (This is still amazing though, esp. in 2009)

      But I'm sure Rikard will deny it, despite never hearing some NES games with this kind of sound, which I can name a few. Oh, and OP posted the NSF file, which is proof.

    Ah ok. I wonder how it sounds on real NES, it had the tendency to distort at times, perhaps if you bias one or some of the channels all the way or so. Gotta get a flash or ram cart. Pity.

    Just the fact that this is done on a NES game is pure win. At first it didnt sound right to me, but at 1:50, thats when it became pure win. Good job on this. Plus it's NES... good times... good times. This coming from a guy who started with an Atari at age 5 XD.

    The NES had a polythony of 5 channels. Each oscillator had a specific set of basic waveforms. Like one would be solely for white noise, another with a triangle wave, etc. Bit depth affects quality and dynamic range. To get more accurate representation, you'd have to also record and bounce in 8-bit.
