  • Okay. WARNING: Lot's of negatives for any Snowflake viewers.
Wow. Is the new parking-lot facing Fort Stanwix national monument, on Liberty and North James street, ever gonna open for parking? Are we gonna wait till July 4th, for a grand-celebration and fireworks? Waiting several more weeks to install some lights, or have those pesky state inspectors give the thumbs-up approval? Just open-it-up. The city government, of course, is already parking in there. I guess us residents and visitors, have to wait a while.
The Copper City's Erie Boulevard, gets the most amount of traffic(and piss-poor drivers. discourteous, alwaysin a rush. Refuse to share-the-road. And when confronted...refuse to get out of their vehicle). What's needed & necessary, on Eerie Boulevard is a complete overhaul. Remove the sidewalks, for an emergency lane. Put a pedestrian path in the middle of the boulevard, complete with guardrail, trees, shrubs, and crosswalk signals at various points. An additional traffic light, at Tractor Supply Company or the Rome Cinema, would be prudent. Declare Eminent Domain, within a certain block, in the name of...Progress & Revitalization, to create a industrial facility(with state/federal gratuitous grants), to add to the Mohawk Valley EDGE fantasy world, of a high-tech Mohawk Valley, or just have a meat-packing facility move-in with good-paying jobs, for us citizens without fancy college degrees.
Worse of all, what is it with the darn crosswalk signals in the Copper City, either they do not function(Floyd Avenue, for over two decades, it's been broke). Or the light signal gives a person less than ten seconds to cross. Or it takes several minutes before the light signals the person to cross. Does anyone in the over-abundant Rome government, check-these-things. I know. Too busy. Many things to do. Maybe ya all need time management.
And what is it with the aggressive daytime drivers on Erie Boulevard??! Sorry, the sidewalks are too corroded and bumpy. Yet, maintaining a three foot distance from the curb, I still had insane drivers yelling at meto get-outta the road. WTF? Most going way-over-the-speed-limit...Mayor Lanigan. News Flash: More angry/outrageous drivers during the day, than at night. By far. I know, we need use the sidewalk, or just take a different route, avoiding the boulevard( typical government responses). Oh. So sorry to interfere.; Guess sharing the road, no longer is suitable. What? Drivers can't move-over to the passing lane? Requires too much effort? What? Be nice, during the daytime & early evening, if there was some type of enforcement. Ah. Right. Too busy.
And I survived in the ninety-degree heat. So far.
