I like the sound of two-speed traction more - A 1960s Otis sounds great. I also like the sound of an EcoDisc, especially with the brakes (I am not talking about the American ones, they are crap).
Some of these definitely don't sound healthy usually an elevator is supposed to sound quite on the inside your not supposed to hear the motor humming it sounds like something is wrong with these motors. Sometimes you can hear the mechanical sounds near the elevator machine room.

Going down there’s no pump doing the work, hence, no sound. It’s just a valve that lets the hydro fluid back in the tank.

It could just be that the pump room is right next to the shaft so you can hear it pretty well.
