- LOW ON OIL Compilation PART 2! You guys really loved the first one that I made 2 years ago, so I've made another one that's even better. I love it when elevators are low on oil!! This only occurs with hydraulic elevators and happens when there isn't enough oil in the hydraulic tank for the elevator to reach the top floor smoothly. Instead of sucking in oil, the pump starts sucking air. The result is quite a loud and fun ride!

The elevators at 8:24 and 9:10 were enough to make me take the stairs for life. You are brave to ride them twice.

I have no idea how building managers can get away with this, because not only does lower hydraulic oil levels cause a rough ride. But what they are doing at the same time is damaging the pump unit which could put the elevator out of service completely!

The lifts where i live made a horrendous noise at times. We got new lifts and one broke within 8 days of being put into service. Great 😂

They need to put these out of service until they can add oil! The pump is going to burn out causing a more serious and expensive breakdown! Plus the high risk of passenger entrapment

What’s the oil for?
Traction elevators use pulleys to pull the elevator up, but hydraulic elevators use large pistons to push the elevator up. It goes up when oil is pumped into them, but if there isn’t enough oil, the pump pumps in air to compensate which creates vibration. I don’t think it’s dangerous, but it probably isn’t good for the components.
