I’ve lived in NYC for 11 years, and the price of a cheap beer is closer to $7 if you’re lucky to find a happy hour. Same in Miami and many parts of the US.
Zona Rosa is nice ,but stay away from nightlife some places. They do have the milatary with big guns that protect tourists, but there are pickpockets everywhere. That mall is nice but that has criminals there. Change your map,but don't get lost or pull out your phone. Locals will tell you that advice. I liked the plaza, but la Candelaria is dangerous the higher up you go up the hill. The plaza downtown by Plaza Bolivar is dangerous its full of drug addicts, and don't let any older man or woman stop you for anything. You could be followed. I was followed by two blond colombian younger guys that were on that plaza ,and my instincts kicked in and I went into a fashion store, and told the owner that I was being followed. He knew what was going on,and the two guys left. They most likley knew that I knew what they were up too. The merchant seemed to know what they were doing. It was just one of those trips where everything was ripped off.
This is complete BS. I’m a gringo and live in Candelaria. There is so much more to do here than in Zona Rosa. Also, plenty of tourists around. It’s the cultural center and is quite safe during the daytime. At night it has a thriving nightlife and awesome restaurants. Sure, there are dangerous areas. But that is the same in all big cities.
Good video. Glad you had the balls to fight off that guy with the machete.
Being vegan can sometimes save your life!
$3 for a beer is not a SUPER CHEAP. That's the normal price everywhere in the first world countries.

@@StevesieTours yeah sure, if we're comparing it to the one of the most expensive cities in the world, than you're right.
Yeah for $3 that’s ridiculous for colombia that’s equivalent of a $60 beer in US
I teach Spanish 🇨🇴🤓👍🏻

Thanks for these details! I didn’t experience this personally, but always had my guard up and never used my phone in public as you mentioned.
