Hmm that’s weird. Are you using a bobber stop between the disc and fly? How much of a gap are you leaving? Try running the disc about 1-2” ahead of the fly and see what happens. Make sure the disc is not facing the wrong way.
Awesome video and content. Really appreciate your videos. My buddy bought some of your trolling flies and switched to them after nothing was working at Collins. Within a minute we were in the biggest fish I’ve seen at the lake. What an introduction to trolling flies, talk about a game changer! Thanks so much, your a huge asset to the fishing community 👍🎣
Cal, I am very interested in your magnum fly. I guide on the Missouri River for walleye. Every year we have a massive bug hatch in May and June. What is the hook size on the magnum because walleye and pike are toothy critters. I’m also very interested in the action disc. I would run them on leadcore. What would you recommend?
Hey Cal, when top lining the regular metalhead flies, how deep would the go if setback is like 150ft with no extra weight added.I am assuming not very deep.
Depends on speed but not much at all if any. At 1.5mph I’d guess no more than 5’ deep. Learn as you go. Only way I ever really know is if go over shallow structure on my fish finder then I snag. When I do that I remember ok 120’ back half ounce weight I’m down x amount
What I love about the metal head flies is how they simplify the fly trolling process. I use them all the time at Almanor, for both Rainbows and Browns!
Hey Cal, I purchased a couple of your broken back flies I did catch a decent fish with a black one. I don't ever see or hear you talk about them. Any tips or knowledge about them you can offer? Thanks again for your video, I'll see you in April
Hey Cal, just to let you know, I tried to buy some gear thru your website and while trying to checkout, an error message says you don’t deliver to my area. I live in San Jose, CA, so it seems like something is not right. Let me know if it gets fixed so we can make a deal…
Excellent explanation of using trolling flies Cal!

Hi, how do I keep my streamers from spinning behind the action discs?

@@FHSTackle Ok, I'll try all those things. I'll also move from the Medium size disc to the small. Hope that does the trick. Thanks

Awesome explanation on a great technique! Definitely have to try it next time I’m on the water. Thanks 🙏🏽🔥
Thanks Cal! Where on the set up, do you put the small sinker you referred to in the Woolie Bugger section?
Awesome, Cal, thanks!
Can I buy some action disc’s? Can’t find them on your web store!

I’ll put up a video about it Thursday!
Try a trolling fly on the back of a small chatterbait..You're welcome.
