"90s speculator is a 2000s liquidator" is a great summation of this era of comics history.

I have fond memories of Sunday night television from back in the day and Kayfabe gives me a little taste of that.

Here’s a para-transcript of my watching the end of this installment with the wife:
    W: Who’s hands are those?
M: Jim's. See the wedding ring.
W: Do they know ALL these details?
M: Some. They do some research… read in advance… but they do know a lot.
W: How many comics do they own? Are they worth a lot?
M: Thousands. Well, they’re buying most at a quarter a pop, so they’re worth a quarter. However some are worth a little more.
W: Where do they film this?
M: My guess is Ed’s studio.
W: How many people watch this?
    M: 4.6 thousand.

I can't believe you're cutting a promo on Harrowers! I was specifically going around to comic shops looking for that when I was in the US last year! I mean, I didn't find any, but I was really looking!

Hey! just found out that on the Amazing Art section, there's an illustration from a penciler I used to ink for, Erik Roman. He kept making comics. At least the last thing I inked for him was the ERB weekly strips "The Monster Men" back in 2015. www.deviantart.com/docolomansky/art/The-Monster-Men-01-page-17-inks-Combined-521907506

ComicFest 93: I think I went to that. I could google it, but I went to one in Philly where I think Peter David and Todd McFarlane had a debate, and I think a chicken suit was involved? I do recall Dean Mullaney and Ted Adams were there selling Spogz™. I also met Jay Stephens and picked up some Sin Comics I didn't have.

Oh man, I clearly remember that exchange at the end of that Valiant interview and thinking that was weird, even at such a young age. Especially “you betchum!” I’ve never seen that used before or since that interview.

1:30:45 The Image comics delay. I remember an Image book would take FOREVER to reach the comic store. With Marvel and DC trying to figure out what to print as they fell behind with reality, Valiant comics were the only alternative (probably because of Wizard) that could produce a steady stream of comics for me. However it's like you guys stated, it wasn't the same after Shooter left. This was around the time frame that killed it for me, I didn't step into a comic shop for about a decade.

I’m always happy to listen to you guys talk about Pittsburgh comic shops! I went to the art institute from 2002 - 2005 and I use to go to the comic places there all of the time. I went to bill and Walt’s hobby shop almost everyday to buy cheap comics since it was right next door to the school, Eide’s and phantom of the attic. I was able to get almost the entire volume 1 run of TMNT at Bill and Walt’s for a dollar a piece or less which was amazing to me back then. Here’s an Eide’s story for you guys, I was trying to collect the Chris Claremont run of Uncanny X-men back then so I picked up a copy of Uncanny X-men 229 in their cheap bin under the steps. When I was checking out the guy who worked there started telling me how horrible of an issue it was and how it was the comic that made him quit X-men. That it was such a stupid idea to him and he couldn’t get past it. I just thought it was hilarious because here I am trying to give you money and you’re trying to talk me out of it.

Jaka's Story is one of the high points in comic storytelling if you ask me - but Melmoth I hated when I first read through Cerebus. I just didn't give a crap about the topic, get back to Cerebus fighting things and throwing babies and Lord Julius and Wolveroach already.

Speaking of Dracula - I remember not getting that film as a kid, but as an adult now I love it. What I thought was just shitty effects as a kid I now see the intent in what FFC was trying to achieve. You got Tom Waits as a crazy man - who doesn't love that??
