There's a laundry mat near my apartment that has a NEOGEO arcade with multiple games. Metal Slug being 1 of 3. I head over and drop some coinage from time to time for nostalgic sake. The laundry mat is pretty much frozen in time. Also there isn't any hipsters around. Just Philippinos and Mexicans.
Top tips, Mike! Bombs are Use Them OR Lose Them between levels. You have to actually pick up the drops that the hostages give you. Mummy form makes you invincible to most things, but is hard to use. Laser is OP. There are loads of hidden secrets! There's no good reason to die with special weapons / bombs. Let loose and worry later! That's all I got.
Such a good game, this is the one we had at the pizza shop within bike distance from my house. Many a quarter was spent on that machine. But it was fun.
I used to play this game every time I went to the beach. It was at a Pizza Hut on the way home we would always stop at. Fond memories of this game it is great
I played Metal Slug 3 at Galloping Ghosts. Otherwise I've only played them at home, other people's houses or on handhelds. I think I have at least one Metal Slug game for every system I own other then my SNES classic, including my laptop.
there is a special pattern, order and hidden items to beat this game without getting hit. For example if you stand in the first platform in your mech at the 2nd boss and shoot as fast as you can you can beat in like 10 seconds and if you stand under the 3rd boss the flame thrower won't come out and you can shoot him there safe, just watch for the leg vapor cuz that means it's gonna sit down so you have to run outa there, go back to shoot hit in the belly when it lifts and so on...
I have play all the metal slug games using emulators, my favorite metal slug games are metal slug 3 and metal slug X since they got the most chaos and the best weapons.
I think the only "bad" game in the main series honestly is 4. Even then I wouldn't really say it's bad, just lackluster after the brilliant gem of a game that is 3. 5 is a bit rough around the edges (and kind of unfinished) too but not necessarily bad either. 1 is classic and still fun, 2 is good too but X is basically a better version of it so you don't HAVE to play it and as I said, 3 is absolutely amazing. 6...The digital backgrounds don't have quite the same charm is probably my biggest gripe with it, other than that it's fine. Actually makes choosing the characters matter. 7 I never played, but XX is basically a better version of that anyways and from what I played is fun too. Just my thoughts and something to go by if you read the comments.
Hadn't you skipped the tutorial at the beginning (which is just 30 seconds long), you would know how to exit the tank, and how to avoid exiting by accident...
Play Mars Matrix. Capcom vertical shooter... BTW, Metal Slug X is one of the best ones. My favorite is 3. Metal slug games are amazing. Even the PS1 wasn't capable of running them.
Does the Switch port have Game Over or just an endless amount of continues? I have noticed that games that are arcade ports usually neglect to adress the problem of not including any sort of challenge in the games because of how the arcade games innately work; you need a limiting factor, and in the arcade it's the amount of money you are willing to spend. However, when the game is ported to console, you really need to implement a different type of system, like a set of continues, which is limited in it's own right; otherwise, it's not even a game, it's just a 16-bit movie that you know you will be able to watch from start to finish from the point when you switch on the game. That's basically the problem with every MAME game, no challenge whatsoever because you can just press the credit hotkey and immediately respawn when you die. Ofc you can try to limit yourself, making rules like "I will only play for three lives and then stop if I die one more time", but come on.. who deos that? Why should you be forced to do that? It's very jarring to have to force yourself to stop playing a game that you like, you NEED that hardwired limit in the game from the outset.
Not a good stream this time around Mike. You make good streams usally but you focus to much on the chat and less at the game. Metal Slug deserves better and you can do better at this game.
Hey, how fucked up would it be if one morning you woke up and the whole world was in 2D and with a pixel art style exactly like AVGN Adventures 2? And if there were all those death blocks every fucking where?
I always thought Metal Slug was overrated as hell and in desperate need of an auto fire button. Why did SNK keep getting such basic things wrong as not having auto fire in a run and gun game? Did they not play Contra?

I would try to buy that thing.

Definitive version of Metal Slug 2
The best arcade games to play with a friend, when I was a kid.. this and Michael Jacksons moonwalker ...
How to get out of a vehicle: DOWN + JUMP... i say so coz if Mike or James ever play MS3... well... they are going to need it...

It gives you the option of not using continues. The Metal Slug Anthology has limited credit options(5, 10, 20).

The whole point of a live stream is the live chat interaction, if you want pure gameplay then watch a pre-recorded let's play...
Read what I said, watch the video and come back again with your thougts.
Haha this is why stay away from fanboys lol
Is it emulation or did they actually port this game?
