Opponents’ defenses load the box and run blitz when Najee’s in, unlike when Patterson is. Smith needs to get Najee the ball in space and on screens instead of telegraphing runs and attracting run blitzes and a loaded box.
True: The Colts out played and out coached the Steelers, for most of the game.

Bill Belicheck success against Mike Tomlin was because Mike Tomlin's game plan is always the same and Belicheck even said that. This 1st half running on first down nearly every time is no different than the Country north of us. I don't think Smith is that stubborn but Tomlin is and we all know it or should know it

Joe Flacco coming in and the inability to stop run or pass are good reasons to try something exotic. The defense seemed very vanilla and just allowed the offense to play their game, hoping for mistakes. Something Joe isn't really known for. The guy can make decisions and can throw with accuracy. Try sub package blitzes, exotic coverages etc to throw the colts off track. This didn't seem to be part of the plan.

Justin Fields made two boneheaded moves. There's no denying that. The thing is, this is the only two bone-headed moves he's made all year. Considering it was a weekly occurrence in Chicago, I think it's safe to say the man has changed.
As for the offensive line, I usually describe it to people that the offensive line is one cohesive position. And the reason why five good lineman can play poorly together is because they're not playing together as one unit.

I honestly think he sometimes forgets his size and mass. Losing all the guys one at a time is killing us. No time to come together at all. Yes this is the worst I have seen the defense in what seems like forever. No changes at all during the game is so so bad. By the time they changed it was way to late.

As a former player in Najee's position, I STRONGLY agree with Najee. It ALL starts with the front line and them creating holes to move through based on the offensive schemes. On top of that, he's a bull (power), he's not a gazelle (speed). He moves people! His take on J Fields, it gets fatiguing to hear on our end, I can only imagine on their end. Even the you guys beloved TJ Watt was tired of talking about Herbig, though he laughed, he was serious.I do respectfully listen to your content due to you being spit on more so than any other journalists in Pittsburgh. I simply disagree with you on this one. Respectfully.

  • @christianglover2447

DK, I don't think your take on Najee is fair. He has to perform behind a line that is mostly injured and he hasn't had the opportunity to run behind an established Oline since coming in to the league. Where as LB was able to get behind a mostly veteran line and ran exceptional well. Look, I don't know why you don't like Najee (that's fine), but you should be fair and objective when reporting on him. Lastly, a blind man can see that they stacked the box when ever Najee is in the game. That's a scheme which arthur smith seems to understand clearly. He tries to get Najee running a route and out in space instead of behind a rookie Oline.

This running game really worries me. Najee just does not run the way he should be as a 245 lb back; as you stated he braces himself before he even gets to the line! And given the fact that center was a huge position of need for the Steelers that year (and for years to come), the fact that they took Harris instead of Creed Humphrey - who was touted as a generational center - is one the Steelers probably wish they had back.

If we all can agree that Garrett “almost” making plays doesn’t make him great, then it’s time to look at our own players through the same lens. 39 is making far too much to not be an impact player. I wouldn’t rank him on the level of Wagner, shell, lake, Troy, or Clark in team history at safety, and at the moment he’s not even close.

It seems Najee is a straight ahead guy and has issues finding the holes in the opposite DLine. With Jaylen and CP injured this is a big problem.

They can never get this line right and with all they invested? Not good!

I understand that naj has to hit the freakin hole, but on the same hand…you have to have a freakin hole to hit. Seriously bad O line play….fields is fine as a starter. Back to fundamentals for O line ? Where is our intensity on both sides.

Najee has been incredibly frustrating all year. I’m tired of his extra curricular bs on every single play. He will run into the back of an O-lineman for 2 yards, then get up and immediately start jawing at a defender.
    Every. Single. Play.
Dude, throw the ball to the ref and get back in the huddle. If he put half the effort into finding a hole that he does talking shit to opposing players, he would actually be a decent back.

Najee seems to have bad attitude and seems to be very rude and sarcastic when answering questions. I have seen this from day one of him being drafted. He is not a pittsburgh type of player. I have always thought that they needed to draft a Lineman that particular draft. Warren i alot better. I also want to know when Roman Wilson is going to get on the field? # Dump Najee trade his ass

DK when it comes to Harris play go back and watch the tape...when Harris is in they stack the box because they know it's a run...why do you think players were in his face soon as he touched the ball...but when Patterson was in the back field the defense wasn't stacked and they worried about him going out for a pass
