I forgot to add: The game is called "Xenoblade Cross" in Japan, because they intended for you to randomly cross paths with other players in game. The WiiU wasn't powerful enough, and they stripped back a lot of features. The Switch doesn't have these limitations, and Monolithsoft go above and beyond to enhance their games. The first trailer & beta for the game also showed way more social elements, that didn't end up in the final game. More in depth online features were clearly cut from the final game. I truly believe they'll add them back, and reach their original vision for the Switch Version! Also people are mentioning the online playtest game is way more finished than I thought! But I still don't believe it's coming out soon, it's most likely a Switch 2 thing!
Probably not for X, but I can see them doing something like this for an X2 on the Switch 2 with it's most likely better online capabilities. I'd still like a single player experience though, but having an MMO version of the game would be great too.
That's what I think. I do thing the playtest IP is actually a nearly complete game too, they even already data mined the soundtrack of 70+ songs (it looks fun). I do think it's a good sign they're doing this playtest thing, it means that they're trying. Also, I'm pretty sure they mention in one of their meeting that they're investing something like 2million in their online infastructure. Either way it's all very exciting,
As someone who is in the playtest, I can confidently tell you that it's a beta-test of what is a basically 99% finished game. Despite it also acting as a sort of multiplayer MMO stress-test for Nintendo's servers, I'm not sure I can see any connections.
The devs intentions with Xeno X was for you to randomly cross paths with other players. Hence the title being "Xenoblade Cross" in Japan. But they couldn't achieve that on WiiU sadly. Seeing that Nintendo are now stress testing MMO gameplay on their servers, it matches up perfectly with an enhanced Xenoblade X port, without said WiiU limitations. I dream and hope!
@@swizzlerHardly, I simply mentioned the game is basically near-finished. I'm not allowed to discuss direct gameplay details, but I can talk about the state of what it is.
@@MegaMotionCD That's very unlikely. Monolith soft isn't in the business of overhauling their old game's design for a port. If anything this is for both a game nintendo is developing in house and for future titles that want to take advantage of it's online capabilities.
From what I’ve seen of the gameplay! I 100% agree. Nintendo wants a piece of that Minecraft pie and the movement looks amazing. This is a near complete game.
Xenoblade X is such an incredibly unique and powerful game. I can't wait for you to experience it for the first time! It has a different setup with it's story, so my advice is to not rush through the game trying to beat the main campaign. Most of the games story & dialogue is actually discovered through side missions. Some are very complex side stories that most people completely missed! The planet Mira itself is the main character & story. And a wonderful one at that
You will be in for a ride. Have like 600 hours in the wii u version wich i last played 2017 cause my wii u broke. It is such a good game soundtrack awesome, graphics really good and such a fun gameplay, beautiful world and funny dialouge.
@@MegaMotionCD good way to put it, Mira herself is quite a character, a well fleshed out one but keeps her mysteries. (I named my oldest cat after her when she was a kitten, didn't realize she is nearly a decade old :c I have Mira, Pyra&Mythra, Reyn, Shulk-though he was super old stray, I think he passed away somewhere, he'd visit often then stopped suddenly, as with Reyn who brought him in the first place)- Nia
As someone who got in to the playtest program and is currently ADDICTED to the main gameplay loop, I really hope that they both use this as a stepping stone for xenoblade like you said (I played a bit of xenoblade x on Wii U and am hyped for the rerelease) but I also REALLY hope they fully go through with the new IP we’re playtesting. I’ve seen some people say the playtest gives them “placeholder energy” (as in everything is easily swappable and they’re testing something for a future mmo) but this game has fully fleshed out mechanics and gameplay loops and interactive features and I don’t want to see it go :(
Just so everyone knows, Xenoblade X was inspired by Phantasy Star Online (ep 1 & 2, Universe and Portable) they wanted it to be Online from the start but couldn’t figure it out. Xenoblade X then inspired Phantasy Star New Genesis so it ended up working both ways. Thank you Monolith and SEGA!
This is a schizo theory I would like to be true. I think they could pull it off if they limit the number of players in the map, probably around 32 or so. Kinda like that fallout 76 does, you could have several worlds populated by 32 players each and then have at it. If not, probably an X sequel for the switch 2 would be ideal to try and develop a mmo. As you said xenoblade is already an mmo-esque type of game so I think it can be done easily.
This doesn't really say anything unfortunately, the game previously put you in a group of I think a max of 32 whenever you started. It's really just the people you could do the group quests with.
Before XCXDE's announcement, I said on reddit that this online testing could take advantage of XCX or potentially test for full MMO mode or something like ff14 for a potential port of that game. Someone said I was unreasonable, but lookie here, XCX announced for Switch and a few months away, perfect for last minute polishes and online testing
@@rayminishi689 I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed this stuff! The original game was so clearly meant to be an mmo, they must be adding those features back in for the new version!
Whenever Nintendo sent an email asking for feedback I would always, out of the blue, ask for xeno x port (not that mattered) but here we are!!! I am extremely happy for Monolith Soft! From assisting various Nintendo projects and having all of their recent projects delivered the way they envisioned. Greedy me crosses fingers for definitive editions of the previous xenosaga/gears series, but even if we never get them, I will be pretty content with whatever they are planning!
Great video! I hope the online in X DE makes the world feel more alive and active. Recent online games for the Switch have also been using the "new" NPLN networking library instead of the outdated NEX library. The games that have used NPLN aren't long-lasting MMO-type games, so the play test may also be a stress test for this kind of player experience.
100% agree! The devs wanted X to feel like an alive world where you'd randomly find players. Unfortunately, you could only find NPC's in the final game. But they don't have the same restrictions anymore. I truly believe they're going to push to enhance & reach their original vision!
@@MegaMotionCDit's not a part I wish people would say it's not a part is a definitive edition do people not know what definitive is it's not like they say it's a remastered they're adding more stuff it's not a port
Yo, cool video. I feel like I'd be more inclined to think it could be a test for an X2 rather than changing that much about the base game. Also just wanted to let you know that your channel is flagged "for kids" and the subscription bell is disabled.
Thanks for letting me know! Despite RUclips already agreeing they wrongly marked my biggest project as "made for kids" before, they've gone ahead and marked the whole channel instead? I didn't know about this. That's so annoying
Literally bought a Wii U purely for Xenoblade X back then. I think only tried that Tokyo mirage sessions game and uh some obscure horror RPG that was similar to Galerians, kinda.
Done give me hope... i always wanted xenoblade to have co op like the old tales of games. It would be TOO good, games would stop being made because everyone would just play xenoblade co op instead.
I figured as much. I didn't know this was going into effect so relatively soon with the advent of XCX: Definitive Edition, but I got the rough idea that the playtest was going to be for Monolithsoft to, at the very least, add true MMO elements to their games in the future. (Potentially for a Xenoblade Chronicles X2 in particular.) Because who else would? Nintendo doesn't have a lot of studios with nearly as much ambition. The Splatoon and Zelda teams are up there to name a few, but Monolith is at the very top of that list.
Hi, you might not even see this, but i am in direct content with one of the "highest performing" players in the Playtest. Having seen most of their progress, but without getting myself or them in trouble, i can clearly state that while its capabilites and especially its interaction methods feel a bit like Xenoblade X, but this is clearly intended to be a new IP. It is essentially capitalizing on what Lego Fortnite wanted to be. I do not know why you think that the game is not in a releaseable state, as most players in that game agree upon the game being in a very well constructed state, and even are rallying for it to get released right after the playtest ends. It is linked somewhat with Xenoblade X, in terms of testing server stability, as i can attest from Xenoblade X on the WiiU, that disconnects were frequent. Being part of the final players after the wiiu online shutdown, i can now wholly attest that it was due to servers being overloaded, since when the game was active, disconnects were much more frequent, as opposed to when less players were active. We are clearly getting dedicated servers in the future, a new social media system and most importantly a nintendo exclusive MMO-type Lego Fortnite improvement.
The videos and forums I saw about the playtest said the game wasn't finished but I've gotten a few comments now saying the opposite! I wish I was in the playtest to have spoken about it better 😅 I still don't believe it's coming out anytime soon though, it's most likely a Switch 2 thing
@@MegaMotionCD From the close to 100 hours of content ive (technically while not breaking the NDA) seen (as stated, the player was VERY high performing, so they were also playing a lot) the pure scale of it is already extremely large. Its probably gonna be a launch thing for the switch 2, in line with a new social media system. From what i saw, some parts of it were also running pretty smoothly (as i might guess unintendedly scaling up to 60 fps) which might even indicate the switch 2 inclusion more. I believe we will soon find out more.
I’d love a more fleshed out online experience than the original had. I’m doubtful it would be such a drastic change as what you’re describing, but I’d be more than happy to be proven wrong!
Well it's not out of the realm. That's one of the reasons why we had a customizable silent avatar. So that we can solo, go out with random players and work together based on the wide variety of skill sets the game provides
I hope you're right, when I bought this game back in the day I assumed it was going to be an MMO, tried to play through it but lost interest as I realized what the actual multiplayer features were.
I think XCX as a multiplayer game would negatively effect the individual experience, and so I doubt the networking tests are related. The single player experience of exploring the world of Mira would be diminished if other players could fill in your map, but if you could have your friends join your team then that would probably be fun in its own way depending on how it is implemented. The previous title only had copied segments of Mira's map for squad missions with small simplistic objectives, so it was short-lived and limited to 4 players. They also had raid bosses with server-shared health pools, which were not much different. The only other online feature was squads and squad tasks, basically shared counters on a timer to complete shared objectives like finding specific collectables or defeating specific enemies. Both of these were tuned to provide you tickets to trade for materials, affinity for NPC party members, and BP for leveling up skills and arts. Any attempt to heavily modify these systems would completely change the experience or balance of the game, and I don't think that is their goal. However, it is possible that they have plans to extend and "finish" the story, as suggested from the cutscene with Lao. It may be that they add new areas or a post-game multiplayer experience unlike the main story. I absolutely think a multiplayer focused post-game would make sense, as most MMO's really start when you hit the level cap. Other creators have suggested they might raise the level cap, which in traditional MMO fashion could be done 10 levels at a time, each as a DLC or "expansion" that could introduce new characters, arts, skills, equipment, etc. In doing this they could bring the level cap to 99 matching the other Xenoblade titles, while giving us content over the next few years. Of course your observations about past tech demos being years in advance, maybe that is a sign that most of these will be present in XCX2, which might be in development but won't release until years into the future.
It sounds too good to be true but at the same time makes so much sense! This game really does deserve an upgrade online section, it would really work well with the world building. Great video bro 🔥
the original game felt sooo much like it was meant to be an online mmo all along. And it seems to be true from dev interviews. Here's hoping they reach their original goal with the remaster
I personally never cared for the online multiplayer because it was a really bad for on X Depending on how the multiplayer is, I renew my membership, but so long as I’m able to do all the missions on the terminal in the quarters. Because literally that’s how I farmed the materials to get all the skells (I built them all on my Wii U) (and the raids that occur I was able to get all the materials easily lol) Either way, I’m super excited for X coming out for switch. We finally have every single Xenoblade chronicles game on switch.
If the multi-player thing holds true there's maybe three ways I can see them doing it. 1a. Its friends only, and its by invite only. (Max 3) 1b. Its friends only but also has an option for open entry for friends. (Max 3) 2. Has options for open lobby and friends/invite only. (Max 3) 3. Most unlikely. A mass world lobby (max 32) free for all. Options 1&2 I could see it possibly happening. How it could work is. All friends or guests that joined would be "linked" to the host. Whenever the host fast travels to a new area so does the party. The party also wouldn't be to deviate too far from the host. And would simply spwan near the host if they get too far, similar to how the normal party members do.
@anthonynguyen1289 That's how the original was as well. In the original, 32 players were put in cell groups, and all 32 were able to interact with each other only via squad missions and trading lottery. How trading lotto worked was, if you got a peace of gear you don't need, you were able to set a gifted trade lottery for everybody in that 32 group cell. The odds of winning determined how many people joined the lotto it was completely random. To join one, all players in that cell would get an alert on the lower right side of the screen with the name of the item with options to see the details. Simply pushing (I believe it was -) would put you in the list of potential players. In squad recruitment, you could recruit just their avatar as a pary member. There was no interaction available, and they wouldn't gain XP. However, they did "Accumulate XP." And when they left the pary, the owner of that character would gain some XP and G.
i think people need to understand that the nso play test is not a prototype at all. this game is very likely going to release the next year and it's not a test for something else... I just can't believe people are so naiv to believe this. Also this is video is spreading fan boy conspiracs theories...
I should have mentioned the original game had cut mmo features. It's called Xenoblade Cross in Japan because the Devs wanted exactly that, for you to randomly cross paths with other players in the overworld. And yeah I should have looked at more footage of the game, stuff I read made it look & sound unfinished. But players in the comments are saying otherwise
I know this is gonna sound crazy, but when I heard what the PlayTest was about I had a feeling it was Xenoblade Chronicles X, it sounded just like aspects of Xenoblade
I would very much like a more improved multiplayer experience from the game, including being able to go on longer or more diverse procedural missions, which I felt was lacking and could have been an easy change to make in the game. It felt too slapped on anyways and could have been better.
You're giving me so much hope and I'm scared cuz I don't wanna be disappointed. I've been praying for X to be ported with a full online co op main campaign FOR 7 YEARS. Id love it to death but I don't want to believe it'll come cuz the disappointment would CRUSH me
I've been wishing for it too. I remember back when it came out, I'd be chatting in live streams and with miiverse friends, wondering how we could even unlock multiplayer in the overworld. Everyone back then could feel the game was always supposed to have it
@MegaMotionCD yeah i agreeespecially with its mmo elements/design. Im okay if it's not the fullest extent of an mmo as I can play the entire game with at least ONE other person online then I'd be satisfied. Tho it would be awesome if 4 people could play the entire game online.
It's a theory that fits, but you can make many untrue theories sound believable with the right presentation so I'm not gonna hold my breath. If this all comes true, cool. If it doesn't, I won't be surprised.
I should have added the dev interviews where they said they wanted the game to let players randomly meet in the overworld! They couldn't do it because of WiiU hardware limits. But the Switch port won't have said limits! "We refer to the X as "cross," as in a place that can serve as a crossroad where people can come across one another unexpectedly. The game has an online aspect, so there will be a lot of player interactions, as if they're meeting each other at an intersection or a crossroads"
This is a pretty cool idea! Definitely cooked with this theory and open to it! I wont be mad if they didnt have that MMO rpg aspect of having your friends play with you in real time, although if they managed to pull this off. Nintendo would have blown my mind all the way to Mira lol
@ agreeed! After watching your vid, I do hope they do this! I remember watching ign reviews and other game review youtubers talk about how this game “looks like it was meant to be an MMO RPG” but they fell short for some reason. So hopefully! Im hyped!
I love the Xeno series, I own all Monolith games (and all Xeno-games including Xenogears and Xenosaga) - even every CE of their games. I bought Chronicles X at launch for the WiiU and for some reason it is the only game I have never played. I am so much looking forward to finally experience this game on the Switch (or maybe its successor) next year.
i've always thought that it's weird for nintendo to not have a proper mmo game, and that a port of xenoblade x would be their golden ticket for that. though i think if that were the case, they'd at least have shown that in the announcement trailer instead of focusing solely on the story aspect.
I'd love for this to be the case, as I've wished for a full online functionality since the initial release, but I just can't see Monolith Soft doing a complete overhaul. I think its more likely that, if the playtest is related at all, it might be for an X2 down the line
I just hope they add more mech variations, there was only like 4 real models that you can choose from, and the endgame mech (ares 60 & 90) was also pretty lackluster and you couldn't even customize it so it was weaker then your lv 60 endgame mech
This is basically confirmation bias the video. It's highly unlikely they would include a completely new multiplayer into a remastered to a wii u game, especially because this kind of multiplayer would be pretty hard to implement in a game made 10 years in the past which wasn't ever designed and programmed to be a multiplayer game.
There's dev interviews where they said they originally wanted you to be able to randomly cross paths with online players. The WiiU clearly stopped them from achieving that, so they stripped back the online elements. To just being smaller isolated missions & boss fights. I don't doubt they'd try to reach their original vision, with an enhanced switch version!
Have you played X before? XCX feels like it was supposed to have this feature from the start. There was a lot of speculation between announcement and release that this was already in the game. Also, it's pretty Obvious the game switched from story focused to multiplayer focused somewhere in development.
@MegaMotionCD the switch isn't much better that the wii u so it's pretty unlikely that it would be possible. And its even more unlike to port it into a remastered of a wii u game. The playtest is actually testing out a new game. Nintendo never would do all of this for a new of mode of a switch game which is a remastered of a wii u game. I think they probably test server capacities with this playtest which can be useful for all kind of games
Sounds plausible. But Monolithsoft would totally port X as is with the DLC. They are working on a new IP as well as the next Xenoblade game and the X port is meant to pad out Switch 1's release schedule. Your idea was the original plan for X, to make it more of an MMO with that idea in mind. So maybe they could have something lined up for Switch 2 based off that idea with X2.
I hate the Nintendo online service to me it's just a way to squeeze the wallets of Retro Nintendo fans especially as the online games seem to be missing a lot features like commution and besides I do see any online games I would want to play so it's not worth it for me just for Xenoblade X.
honestly, if XCX was an online MMO, I'm ok with that. I've been wanting to play this game with the online experience anyway. I have it on WiiU and quickly got bored of playing by myself lol
I don’t know a lot about Xenoblade, but I DO know that this theory has legs. You’ve convinced me. I can’t see why they’d frame the play test like that it if wasn’t planned to relate to Xenoblade in some way at least. Amazing video 🎉
@@corkben Many thank yous! Yeah I don't believe for a second that a random 3GB social game tech demo, that's probably not coming out for 1-2 years.... ISN'T also a test for an upcoming experience. Which I believe is Xenoblade
I've been wanting an entirely multiplayer version of this game since I first played it, I really hope this becomes true, X has been my favorite in the whole Xeno world (Also what's yalls favorite weapon combos, I love Sniper+Longsword)
Xenoblade X doesnt need the same graphical overhaul, its more a performance increase, better draw distance, higher framerate, higher resolution etc. The only thing they should do is what they wanted to do the first time around - implementing the mmo-like feeling and adding more story. Though part of me thinks that they wont be expanding on the online features, and if they do you will need the online membership which alot of people dont have. So for the most part, X will just be performance improvements & new story. I do think however that the recent online playtest was not for X, but an upcoming Switch 2 game, possibly even the next Monolith Soft game.
I'm a playtester. The planet the test is on is named PNF-404. There is also a central hub with access to challenge zones, mini games like tank battles, and an aptitude test held at certain times that allows players to make user generated costumes. This may or may not mean anything at the end of the day.
Probably for X2. They mention in X that they want to expand frontierNav to other planets. Probably in X2 we'll have other planets to explore besides Mira and we'll have to expand the network to these planets as well
There is a noticeable upgrade to the graphics though, it certainly looks alot sharper then it did on switch. as for the online I would be perfectly happy to have 4 player multiplayer lobbies in the same vein as MHGU where you pick a mission, complete it with players in your lobby, then return to the lobby to select another mission. I remember doing a couple of co-op missions ON the Wii-u but after completing it the lobby would automatically disband and you have to set up a whole new one to do another mission.
Sorry I am in the Playtest you are wrong. The Game is nearly finished. Its a Cross between minecraft and Miiverse. It is more a social creative game than a normal game
I've seen conflicting reports, people say it's clearly not finished and others say it's fully featured. But still, If it's a miiverse styled social game they're testing, I still don't believe it's coming out any time soon. Most likely a Switch 2 thing
Honestly any step towards a better network is a good thing. Kinda fed up with the switch online when something as minor as fire emblem just checking status of a map fails it's really bad when something that minor breaks randomly because of how bad Nintendo's online service is.
Would love for this to be true. Would also love a Xenoblade MMO on the switch/switch 2. The playtest stuff does seem to match up with Xenoblade X like you said, but this could also be for a completely new IP, or an existing franchise. Fingers crossed on expanded multiplayer for X.
they are similar in game loop because is the basic rpg or sandbox loop of ANY BASIC GAME. though i also agree this could be a test for their servers and a new feature in xeno X, the ´´evidence´´ you present is laughable at best.
Nintendo don't have any other IP's that could remotely take advantage of their MMO server test. Except Xenoblade. While I believe the playtest game that they demo'd, will eventually be a finished game, I don't believe it's any time soon
@@MegaMotionCD depends, nintendo switch 2 is literally next year. So i could see them making this demo specifically to launch it alongside (or a little after) the console to promote it. the demo itself i am sure was made to see how the servers would work, more than how advanced is the game (it has happened that developers show a earlier version of the game than what they currently have, for showing purposes normally) this could be the case this the main priority isnt how ''finished'' is the game; but to know the concept of MMO can be feasible to their servers and for xenoblade x also, i want to see what dlc they have
Thats a hard strech , especially considering that in the original XCX you do nothing of that actually online with other players , you do it mostly locally and you can have Online Avatars of others with you , but the Server communication is just a bare minimum. That said , if they would actually make XCXDE fully online playable in the actual overworld , then it would still be very limited in player count. But yeah them using collected data from XCXDE online for whatever they want to change in NSO or for whatever game they have planned , makes sense.
I forgot to mention in the video that the intention with the original game was for you to cross paths with online players you'd randomly find while playing. It's why it's called Xenoblade Cross in Japan. Online features were clearly cut from the original, so I don't doubt they'd be reworking things for the remaster!
The entire premise for Xenoblade Chronicles X is that all these different Blade teams are running around performing tasks. Some focus more on exploration, some are taking on Titan class enemies, etc. Whether or not anything too ambitious happens, I don't know. Nintendo would actually need to provide real servers to pull this off. They've never done anything other than ad hoc for any of their games. It would be cool and this would definitely be the ideal game to do it, but far too many RUclipsrs read way too much into everything and get everyones hopes up so, I don't know.
I always felt even back then that XCX felt like it was meant to be an MMO, and thought perhaps it was originally intended to be, but that it had to get scaled back to what we got to get the game out the door at all.
You're right! Development interviews say they titled the game "Xenoblade Cross" in Japan, as they intended for you to randomly cross paths with other players online. But development issues & hardware limitations, made them strip back a lot of features and content!
If there won't be any spectacular multiplayer ideas, just ending mosters or some other minor ideas or theh would chsnge nothing with the multiplayer, im honestly fine with that. Sure, if they want to attract more new potential players that would help.
@MegaMotionCD what i meant is that i do not want them to change the solo experience for the updated online experience to work, i dont mind using online functionality itself
While I would like to believe this, I think I’ll limit my expectations. I feel like making it into a full on MMO will transform it too much beyond Takahashi’s original vision for X and will cause too many complications with sidequests. This could be alleviated by it only applying to the post-game, but needing to play around 80 hours before you can play multiplayer won’t be great either. I’ll be happily surprised if this ends up being true, but as of now I don’t have that much faith in it.
They did intend for you to randomly cross paths with other players in the original. A lot of game elements got stripped back since the WiiU was poo. They'll keep the "turn off online play" option on the start screen I'm sure!
I mean, I guess it makes sense that the playtest program was just testing the concept of a large multiplayer world so they can use it on other projects along with the original playtest gameplay.
@@nuclearbeeberman It's not a prototype, I'm just saying they could also use the knowledge that they can make large multiplayer games for other projects. I'm not saying they're throwing out the playtest program game, I'm saying that they're using an early build of it to make sure the multiplayer is stable.
I didn't know there was a Pokemon MMO coming! That actually adds to my theory that Nintendo is secretly testing other games with this playtest program!
As much as i love all the Xenoblade Chronicles games on all platforms and as much as X is my most favorite part of this series but i would not give a cent for a MMORPG, especially not for one with a monthly subscription.
@MegaMotionCD By that logic It would make more sense if the test is for the MMO Pokemon game that was leaked in the Teraleak since... Well it's an actual MMO.
@@MegaMotionCD You wouldn't need it for something still rather niche. Like would you really need such a stress test for the worst selling and most divisive Xenoblade game released ever? Having some sort of MMO component for such a game seems like a bit of an overkill, too ambitious for its own good.
No, the Playtest Program is a nearly finished game, I have no idea why everyone keeps saying it's a prototype. It needs a better tutorial, progression, and a few extra features but that's pretty much it.
I unfortunately didn't get to play for myself, I only repeated what I saw in forums & other videos. Comments have corrected me though, but it still seems the game isn't coming out anytime soon. Most likely a Switch 2 thing
it better not be....i have no desire to play the game online only...i want to play the game single player, not forced into a subscribtion that i dont' want. I want the game fully on cartridge so i can purchase it physically and have it forever
I'm happy if they include this, but I hope it's not essential. I would say I "tolerated" the MMO elements when I spent over 500 hours playing it the first time. I would have played it again but for the fact that so many features were locked behind live servers and community achievements. So I hope this version is more "future proof" and that those who are interested can indulge in an MMO experience. Otherwise, if they haven't learned from the past and this version will become semi-defunct in a few years when most players move on, it would sour me a bit on it.
@@TheNosferatuChannel the games beta seemed to have way more multiplayer features, it seems like a lot got cut for the final release! I hope they're added back
Game couldve been better. Biggest shock in the game was when you found out your an android with your old body consciousness. The cliff hanger at the end was bleh.
I think it's more likely the playtested for the Switch 2 Online Servers. And you are already way overhyping the game. There will probably be some new online stuff, but I'd more expect soemthing like a new Nemesis boss and some new missions. It's probably still a lot of work to make the online features work, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.
The original game was clearly meant to be an MMO. I'm sure they'll keep the option to turn off online play, from the start menu. Like the original did!
@@MegaMotionCD I hope so , Im not too keen on mmos and I always wanted to play this game , also need to complete the Xenoblade collection , but I dont want to be forced to pay for online to play the game.
Terms can be a bit confusing sometimes. I'm refering to it being an MMO inspired game, as the game was made to feel like you were playing an open world JRPG, where you constantly met new people that helped expand the world. From the devs: "In Japan, we refer to the X as "cross," as in a place that can serve as a crossroad where people can come across one another unexpectedly. The game has an online aspect, so there will be a lot of player interactions, as if they're meeting each other at an intersection or a crossroads" Xenoblade X was developed as a single player, MMO inspired game! That part of it's development, I truly believe they're expanding upon it with it's definitive edition. Transforming it into a fully online MMOJRPG
@@lpfan4491 The games themselves aren't linked. But the features Nintendo is getting 10K players to test on their servers, seem to be. I don't believe the Nintendocraft demo they've made is coming out as a full product any time soon. So why the playtest? Why now? I realised they must be both beta testing a game, while also testing their servers for a different game. Xenoblade X definitive edition!
@@theshadowdirector We've not seen enough footage. So far it looks like higher res textures with some updated models. The majority of the game looks to be intact from the trailer
@@MegaMotionCD you keep repeating that same line, but it's not the good faith solution you think it is. an mmo experience for x would be *entirely* different, and disabling onliny completely prevents players from doing squad tasks, which are a very valuable source of crafting materials. The best solution would be a form of drop-in/drop-out co-op with friends.
I forgot to add:
The game is called "Xenoblade Cross" in Japan, because they intended for you to randomly cross paths with other players in game.
I hope so omg. Imagine Zhu Pharg Nemesis 🎉
Either way it's all very exciting,
I just hope the black knight still has his kickass skell and spaceship
I’m saying 😮💨
I doubt it, I'd argue if anything it's way more likely to be for a X2 or entirely new IP.
Nintendo actually had a full multiplayer experience planned for X, but they canceled it because of the failure of the WiiU
Yeah earlier footage showed they were clearly planning for more online features before it got cut
RIP, the Nintendo ninjas are coming
The eShop page mentions play with up to 32 people.
that's just the squad size from the original game. It doesn't say anything about playing with those other players outside of squad tasks/missions.
Im huge xenoblade fan. Imagine my excitement i have because X is the only one i havent played

I’ve seen some people say the playtest gives them “placeholder energy” (as in everything is easily swappable and they’re testing something for a future mmo) but this game has fully fleshed out mechanics and gameplay loops and interactive features and I don’t want to see it go :(
I believe the playtest game will come out one day! But yeah, from what I've seen, it's not very soon. Glad you're enjoying it so far!
I doubt we'll see it go, it literally already has test microtransactions implemented.

Xeviously?
Just so everyone knows, Xenoblade X was inspired by Phantasy Star Online (ep 1 & 2, Universe and Portable) they wanted it to be Online from the start but couldn’t figure it out. Xenoblade X then inspired Phantasy Star New Genesis so it ended up working both ways. Thank you Monolith and SEGA!
I wish I had mentioned the original intent for the game in the video, a silly thing to forget aha!
As you said xenoblade is already an mmo-esque type of game so I think it can be done easily.
its description on eshop says "online multiplay 1-32 players".
i've never been into mmorpg, but XB mmo? fck yes!
This doesn't really say anything unfortunately, the game previously put you in a group of I think a max of 32 whenever you started. It's really just the people you could do the group quests with.
Yeah and at best you could do a quest with 3 other people.@@jedimarioe

I truly believe they're going to push to enhance & reach their original vision!

mmo is a gigantic stretch, i can see it being like scarlet and violet with coop with up to 3 other friends, but not mmo lol
Cool theory but the playtest program nsp is too small though, it's like 25MB.
100% agree. Good point!
I wish I was in the playtest to have spoken about it better 😅
I still don't believe it's coming out anytime soon though, it's most likely a Switch 2 thing
I kid myself into thinking the mmo mode was a late game unlock 😂
This is an interesting theory! We'll have to see. Either way, I am beyond excited for Xenoblade Chronicles X to come to switch!
Thank you!
I personally never cared for the online multiplayer because it was a really bad for on X
Depending on how the multiplayer is, I renew my membership, but so long as I’m able to do all the missions on the terminal in the quarters. Because literally that’s how I farmed the materials to get all the skells (I built them all on my Wii U) (and the raids that occur I was able to get all the materials easily lol)
Either way, I’m super excited for X coming out for switch. We finally have every single Xenoblade chronicles game on switch.
If the multi-player thing holds true there's maybe three ways I can see them doing it.
1a. Its friends only, and its by invite only. (Max 3)
1b. Its friends only but also has an option for open entry for friends. (Max 3)
2. Has options for open lobby and friends/invite only. (Max 3)
The official website page for the preorder states that the online has up to 32 players.
@@anthonynguyen1289 which is the same as the first game
Ughhhhhhh I wish xenoblade was releasing tomorrow
i think people need to understand that the nso play test is not a prototype at all. this game is very likely going to release the next year and it's not a test for something else...
@@k1ttyKaT808 agreed!
11 years for me. I know the game came out 9 years ago, but when it was announced I knew I wanted it on the NX instead of the Wii U.
The game would go from a 10/10 to an 11/10. I need Xenoblade X MMO so bad
@@BossXAOC The Switch is plenty more capable than the WiiU, not graphics wise. But computing wise, yes
This is also what I've been saying once the definitive edition of XCX was released.

The original had that option, so they'll keep it in with the new one too!
Probably in X2 we'll have other planets to explore besides Mira and we'll have to expand the network to these planets as well
World of Xenoblade... am in
There is a noticeable upgrade to the graphics though, it certainly looks alot sharper then it did on switch. as for the online I would be perfectly happy to have 4 player multiplayer lobbies in the same vein as MHGU where you pick a mission, complete it with players in your lobby, then return to the lobby to select another mission.
Intresting theory, weather its true or not we will have to see.
Would love for this to be true. Would also love a Xenoblade MMO on the switch/switch 2. The playtest stuff does seem to match up with Xenoblade X like you said, but this could also be for a completely new IP, or an existing franchise. Fingers crossed on expanded multiplayer for X.
Can only hope!
they are similar in game loop because is the basic rpg or sandbox loop of ANY BASIC GAME.
though i also agree this could be a test for their servers and a new feature in xeno X, the ´´evidence´´ you present is laughable at best.
So i could see them making this demo specifically to launch it alongside (or a little after) the console to promote it.
the demo itself i am sure was made to see how the servers would work, more than how advanced is the game (it has happened that developers show a earlier version of the game than what they currently have, for showing purposes normally) this could be the case this the main priority isnt how ''finished'' is the game; but to know the concept of MMO can be feasible to their servers
and for xenoblade x also, i want to see what dlc they have
@@alexanderflores-MazterDestiny Agreed! I definitely feel like it's a switch 2 thing! And yeah they could easily be showing early gameplay
I think it's related to pokemon, they seen Palworld and got inspired
@@bluezaton both is good!
No, the online test program had like 75 songs datamined from its files. This is separate from xenoblade.
If there won't be any spectacular multiplayer ideas, just ending mosters or some other minor ideas or theh would chsnge nothing with the multiplayer, im honestly fine with that. Sure, if they want to attract more new potential players that would help.
As long as they do not destroy the solo experience i do not mind what they do with online functionality
You can turn online off from the start menu!
@MegaMotionCD what i meant is that i do not want them to change the solo experience for the updated online experience to work, i dont mind using online functionality itself
0:58 Seeing LittleBigPlanet remembered in 2024. LBP deserved way better than how Sony treated it. :(
I just hope XCX DE won't have body type A|B instead of male/female.
XENOBLADE POGG
@@TheAncientRylanor did you just epicly pog me??
I still annoyed that Nintendo will likely never trust us to playtest any of their games again simply because people can't be trusted to keep quiet
@@TheOriginalSolicious yep 😭
Don't be, they're not naive. They knew it was going to leak that's why they used a placeholder game
dat is true, its so big its lonely
I mean, I guess it makes sense that the playtest program was just testing the concept of a large multiplayer world so they can use it on other projects along with the original playtest gameplay.
irn makes no sense at all. the playtest is a new IP, Nintendo would never put so much polish and design in a prototype... it's naiv to believe this
@@nuclearbeeberman It's not a prototype, I'm just saying they could also use the knowledge that they can make large multiplayer games for other projects. I'm not saying they're throwing out the playtest program game, I'm saying that they're using an early build of it to make sure the multiplayer is stable.
If it’s a Mii finding one on the map would be kinda jarring
It can be related with the Pokemon leaks of the kind of mmo too
I didn't know there was a Pokemon MMO coming!
Its official. Nintendo fans have lost their minds.
The original game was intended to be an mmo, there's dev interviews about it
@MegaMotionCD By that logic It would make more sense if the test is for the MMO Pokemon game that was leaked in the Teraleak since... Well it's an actual MMO.
@@diegomedina9637 I believe the playtest was for the social game, Xenoblade and Pokemon!
@@MegaMotionCD You wouldn't need it for something still rather niche. Like would you really need such a stress test for the worst selling and most divisive Xenoblade game released ever? Having some sort of MMO component for such a game seems like a bit of an overkill, too ambitious for its own good.
I certainly hope that's the case
The original game had the option to turn off online play from the start menu. It'll 100% be the same on the switch version!
It would be cool but I doubt it. XCX multiplayer was very limited and separate from the main game.
@@TheNosferatuChannel the games beta seemed to have way more multiplayer features, it seems like a lot got cut for the final release! I hope they're added back
How many Skell Discbombs does it take to get to the center of an Everqueen?
@@hunterryan6291 Trick question, the Everqueen one shots you before Elma can even request a melee attack
@ She didn’t use Ghost Factory quick enough lol. Gimme my decoy.
I never used the online mode and honestly didn't really know how it works it looked so annoying to use so I never bothered with it.
I love Xenoblade x that's why I'm commenting 😌
Game couldve been better. Biggest shock in the game was when you found out your an android with your old body consciousness. The cliff hanger at the end was bleh.
7:00 So we have to play online all days? Not offline too?
The original game had the option to turn online features off, from the start menu. I'm sure it'll be the same in the new version!
🚬 Thanks for the copium brutha. Gonna be high on this for a few weeks
If this becomes a mmo then I wont play it
The original game was clearly meant to be an MMO.
Jokes on them. I'm still not subscribing to their Online service.
I doubt Nintendo EPD4 are doing anything related to what monolith soft are doing tbh
hope you get beder soon
It’s an jrpg not an mmo hack and slash need to release the skills manually with out an auto skill release button is an mmo.
The game has an online aspect, so there will be a lot of player interactions, as if they're meeting each other at an intersection or a crossroads"
Xenoblade X was developed as a single player, MMO inspired game!
That part of it's development, I truly believe they're expanding upon it with it's definitive edition. Transforming it into a fully online MMOJRPG
Nintendocraft and Xenoblade X are linked?
@@lpfan4491 The games themselves aren't linked. But the features Nintendo is getting 10K players to test on their servers, seem to be. I don't believe the Nintendocraft demo they've made is coming out as a full product any time soon. So why the playtest? Why now? I realised they must be both beta testing a game, while also testing their servers for a different game. Xenoblade X definitive edition!
This game needs a lot of improvements before they add multiplayer.
theyll add water combat
Don't think you're giving the graphics upgrade enough credit.
@@theshadowdirector We've not seen enough footage. So far it looks like higher res textures with some updated models. The majority of the game looks to be intact from the trailer
As if you are an inside Nintendo employee who can speak Japanese, otherwise all these things are just speculation on your part
もし私がそうだったら?
I hope u're wrong.
can't see XCX beeing fully mmo as a good thing.
Tyrant farming ☠
You can turn online off in the original, would be the same for switch!
