Dude I friggin LOVED this game as a kid. I played it into 4th grade as well and I remember thinking to myself "Man... I feel little still playing this even when I've moved up a grade" and then going "NAHHH THIS GAME IS AWESOME WHO CARES!"
I also remember playing this game when I was little. Back then, I had a computer with a collection of so many games, including this one, Jumpstart 4th grade, Jumpstart 1st, Jumpstart 2nd, Jumpstart World: pet playground, Jumpstart music, etc. Even though Jumpstart 3rd Grade was my favorite game in the Jumpstart series, I never got to finish it.
It’s awesome to see the original, unedited version being played. It made me mad as a kid when my CD broke, my mom bought a new one, and my story had been CHOPPED UP!

I was so obsessed with Android XL2; Botley, and the game in general. Even before being a Third grader I found some stuff complicated and even learned a lot while playing.
Man, I'm so glad you uploaded this. This game seriously brings back a lot of nostalgia for me. I played it all the time as a kid. Really bummed me out that I never finished the game. I remember it got pretty hard for me at the time and I either couldn't save my progress or I lost it after a while or something. We also didn't have RUclips like we do today so it wasn't until years later that I found out how the game ends.

Just looking at this video. This game also brings back memories of late 1990's and early 2000's. Some of these games are still relevant today as far as educational content. It is a shame we cannot get them for todays computers for the youngsters.

Wow! You added the version that includes some of the original dialogue that was removed from later releases! For example, Polly's extra credit question is mentioned early on unlike later releases. As a result it makes her Extra credit thing at the end come outta the left field.
I had that version too. ...I remember the painting gallery where I drew a kid playing with a toy car, but I was supposed to use the stickers. So I circled him, drew arrows pointing to him, even wrote "LOOK HERE MORON" across the picture and then I realised I was supposed to use the stickers. Then I laughed because of how stupid it looked.
Yeah, I was taken aback by that bc I didn't remember there being an Extra Credit question.......which tells me that I never actually finished this game like I thought! 😅
It’s a trip for sure- I spent so much time not even doing missions, but just hanging In the art gallery making stuff and looking back at the paintings. Massive nostalgia hit
I really just hoped that after you get all the robots, it would open a new part of the mountain that had a long hallway leading to the room she was in - not just a cutscene to it.. sigh.
@@systemthegaming I feel like for 1996 that's asking for a LOT, especially since this was the first game that moved away from just being a glorified Activity Centre game and into something with an actual story. We did get there, eventually, as I recall in Adventures 5th Grade, you had to travel the different industrial areas that were being targeted and for the final case you travel to the hydro dam to thwart the bad guy

Nope! You’ll have to run in a windows xp or lower environment. Take a look at setting up a virtual box. There are a few tutorials floating around - I might get around to making one later.

That’s the exact reason I got rolling with this channel. Just wanted to finish games I remember playing when I was younger, but know I never completed (or got close).
To be fair, this game is LONG. You have to rescue 25 robots, which means you have to get 100 clues, bonus points if you're playing on lower difficulty levels, have to go through the Wheel of Invention game each time, AND recharge the batteries every 2-3 robots. That's not even including all the dialogue, which there is also a LOT. The only JumpStart game that I finished when I was a kid was 5th Grade, and that game was actually pretty neatly streamlined in comparison to 3rd and 4th Grade, especially when it came to travel between areas (note: I did not learn about the quick travel system in 4th grade until I was in my 20s)
Not that I’m aware of - unfortunately I had to go through the process of running a virtual machine of winxp to get it working. Wasn’t the most user friendly experience on the planet, but that was the only way I was able to make it work.

The amount of effort put into this is greater than a lot of expensive non-educational games today.
The graphics, gameplay, animation, story - they really just nailed everything with this one. Probably the best in the series in my opinion.
The biosphere is giving me FLASHBACKS to the struggle and adrenaline of being an 8 year old and trying to manage the controls.
Oh - it's just as clunky as an adult... I think it was just always a challenge at any age!

I checked 1.2, and it actually uses the old Knowledge Adventure logo. I'm pretty sure the version that uses the newer logo is V1.4.

Depends on the game, Jumpstart 3rd required me to emulate win98 (used virtual box), but the others were hit-or-miss on windows 11
