This had to have been the LONGEST Jumpstart game! It was so unlike all the others we had played as kids, and for a while I was too afraid to try completing it. My sister though had no such reservations. We definitely felt very accomplished to have finally beaten this game, they really went all out with this one. Thanks for this and so many other memories, JumpStart!
It took a good amount of time, that's for sure. I wonder if those games were really made for kids to finish, or if they were just meant to be repetitive to learn... I also just finished Jumpstart 2nd grade, and that one also took a while... 4th had a better ending tho.
literally the first ever video game i ever played. didnt get far into it because i was a dumb kid. but ill never forget some parts of it, seeing as its nearly been 30 years and i still remembered it. thanks for posting.
Damn I repressed this shit. I was literally just on my computer when I got a quick flash of that purple bat and had to see if he was real. I could never beat this game cause I got scared as a kid. Hella nostalgic revisiting this, thank you.
(Flap the Bat flies on screen at 1:45) “Well, hello...! What a nice specimen you'll make...! (Flap chuckles evilly with a grin, then he notices your scared face and realises) Oh... I didn't recognise you…! You're one of the kids, aren't you…?”

The prince sure doesn't LOOK handsome when being returned to normal. With all due respect, he looks better as a toad. That only slightly scared me in my younger self. But Repsac the Ghost scared me A LOT! Still does, too.
...fair! The ghost is terrifying. I believe that was a big reason why the re-release (reboot?) of Jumpstart adventures 4th: grade became Sapphire Falls - it was too frightening!
1:33 Gatekeeper: Welcome, mortals. To gain access to Haunted Island, you must enter your name. If a new arrival, enter your name in here. If you have set foot onto this island before, select your name from the list below.
This game was difficult for me to finish not because it's hard but it was very scary for me. The way those ghosts just pop out when you're walking and the whole dark vibe. T_T I believe I bought it when I was in the 3rd grade, played it a few times and got creeped out so I put it away for a while and was finally able to finish it in the 5th grade when I became more ballsy LOL. 😂
Good luck looking for it! I think it's been out of print for some time now. They also "remade" the game, but instead of being Haunted Island, they removed the "scary" element and made it about looking for crystals or something.
1:26:20 I remember navigating this game was a huge source of frustration. I think the game came with a better map of the island in the instruction book, but obviously, that isn't available in-game, so without it, you're kind of blind. It's poor map design, in my opinion.
iirc the game has a quick-travel option, of sorts. I definitely remember that when looking at the map if you clicked on a place it took you to that area. I don't think it took you directly to the mini-game itself, but nearby enough as opposed to walking all across the frigging island and chancing running into Respac
@@aceshighdueceslow You're correct. I definitely remember using "fast travel" by clicking the mini-game I needed to go to on the map, and it would send you there so you wouldn't have to try finding it yourself. Pretty sure the game dropped you off right in front of the mini games too. I guess the only real downside to not exploring the map by yourself was that you missed out on the in-game art/graphics of the island which I thought were really well done. Fast travel is best if you want to avoid bumping into Repsac or Ms. Grunkel randomly and be banished to the island labyrinth!
Fellow 90s where you at? Dang this was such a fun game to play, i didn't have a pc at the time so i always played it at my aunt's house everytime i visited lol.
I thought this game was some sort of fever dream I had as a kid, it's been so long. I never thought I'd find out what this game was.
yes same!!!
Same! LOL. I finally described my memories to chat GPT and it suggested this as a possibility. Watching this, the memories are just flooding back in.
Same here!!
I remember being so afraid when i got a key like "oh my god shes going to be mad i have one of her keys" idk why i was so immersed in it
I miss that feeling of immersion. Such a great escape growing up!
truly a gem. LOVED this game as a kid. The swamp game was my favorite!

Glad you enjoyed it! This is exactly why I started the channel. So many games I remembered from my childhood that I just never got very far in.
Loved this game as a kid. Used to play it a lot. Never beat it though😂
My sister and I use to love this game the concept is great and use to scare us both
4:08 KA Bookworm: Okay, so we gotta go see that fortune teller lady! Click on the wagon!
WOWWWWW THE WAY THIS WAS JUST LOCKED AWAY IN MY MEMORY
Tony Pope’s Peter Lorre impression is spot on.
Yes it is. RIP Tony Pope. 😢
Finally! I’ve been looking for this for quite a while!
Loved playing this and number munchers
This is part of my childhood, thanks for the upload! 😄
That’s what it’s all about!

It was frightening to play now as an adult!
1:44 KA Bookworm: I don’t know about you, but this place is really starting to creep me out! It’s a worm pun.
MADAM PALMREADA.....
I JUST got that after 20 years...
Same here, man. I just discovered that.

I remember that game long time ago. It reminds me of Tim Burton’s jumpstart game and the music reminds me of Danny Elfman
Ooo good call on Danny Elfman

@@systemthegaming I appreciate it!
I also suggested to follow up with 5th Grade: Jo Hammet, Kid Detective and 6th Grade: Mission Earthquest.

i remember as a kid, i dreaded this game. because it instilled trauma music in me
I’ve never played that game when I was a kid, the only Jumpstart game I have is Jumpstart 3rd Grade. Maybe I should play the Haunted Island game.

Scariest game ever!
The scariest part?
Younger self: absolutely the ghost
Today: the wishing well level
but a great adventure in the least (rescuing *13 adorable children from an evil witch)
*The most adorable of them all is Tiffany
@@systemthegaming Let's not forget Ms. Grunkle's powerful magic at her house along with enemy pirate ships blasting their cannons at you, will we?
Yeah dude like this game gives me the creeps!!
Wow! I have been looking for this game for ages!! Could you please give me a link to download it? please please please
Really cheap too
Dont know where to find it 😭
i know
Omg my old teacher always wanted us to play these games good times 😂
I wanted my mom to get me this game, but I chickened out at the last minute...
@thanomyloans2585 I just said I chickened out.
@1:09:56, Not exactly a song I would play considering the situation I'm in.
They honestly can bring this back for iPad and it would still be good.
...@ 16:05, did he just play DIXIE?
yes
