Also, it made me really happy that Hayley saw your video. Your channel is brilliant and to me one of the best things in RUclips nowadays. Thanks for doing such an amazing work, and keeping things fun and interesting, Justin!
TLDR: Yes, yes... YES! It is very exciting Justin 😁 Paramore is my all time favourite band. STORY TIME: For me they were the first band I truly fell in love with, and that I didn't know by proxy. I was in secondary school, the Internet was still fairly new and exciting with Haul vids and ASMR just starting to become a thing on RUclips (before it was even called ASMR). One day I spotted this vid suggestion of this girl un-boxing some cosmetic product called something like Jurgens and doing it all whispered. My curiosity was peaked and here I was about to kill two birds with one stone; to finally find out what these two new trends were all about. However I wasn't able to focus on the subject of the video for long. As fate would have it playing in the background was the song Fences from the Riot album. Though, this was brand new music to me and it was muffled in the background - the video only long enough for a section of the song. I watched that video dozens of times and spent weeks googling potential lines. Until eventually I found the song. I soon started listening to more paramore, discovering their first album as well. But most of all I was super hyped to tell my best friend at school about this band. She had introduced me to Panic! - so they were "her" band - but now this was "mine" to introduce her to (of course we both share a love for both bands). What felt really special though was when, around a month or so later, I started hearing lots of people at school talking about this new band. As it happened I had discovered them just before they really became big in the UK. A few years later (I think in 2010) I was lucky enough to see them in concert at Wembley Stadium. Lucky being the oporative word; it snowed and we barely made it on the train, missing the support act entirely. I've since been lucky enough to see Buble and Adele at the O², getting extremely lucky with the Adele seats - near the front and nigh on level with the stage. But even those two titans, in that arena, pale in comparison to hearing Paramore play from the arse-end corner of Wembley, way up in the gods 🥹🥰
Here because Hayley mentioned this on that interview . I saw her in london in April her vocals were phenomenal and she has so much charisma. The band were really tight and it was one of my favourite gigs in recent years. I was a bit ambivalent about seeing her mostly went cos my dad and son wanted to go but i was absolutely mesmorised but their performance.
Justin, this was a “brilliant” reaction video. I have not been much into Paramore in the past; however, you kindled an interest here. Now, I’m looking forward to the much delayed release of Paramore’s new LP. Thanks, Justin.
one thing I like about paramore is that, their song feels like I need to push forward in whatever I going through. listens to them since 2006i the have this signature that it gives you feeling of eagerness to success to whatever.
Paramore completely passed me by until a couple of years ago when I saw the video for Rose Coloured Boy. I was mesmerized by Hayley and have took notice since. She's an amazing person.
It was cool seeing my TikTok in your video! (The second one) really enjoy your reaction videos to paramore, hope you do one when the full album comes out
Loving your analysis and actually seeing a RUclips video where the presenter is actually enjoying the content they are talking about.....well done mr hawkins.....my enjoyment continues unabated.
One thing that occurs to me listening to the new Paramore stuff is how much of a groove they're in. Like, in the late 90s there was a song by Fatboy Slim called Acid 8000 built around this sample of "If this don't make your booty move your booty must be dead". THAT is how I feel about the new Paramore stuff, it makes you want to move. And that's one of the core elements I feel has been missing from so much modern rock. They've absolutely NAILED that. And with their electric live performances, which btw I've seen several so far and I'm blown away by how tight the current line up is. I genuinely hope they appreciate what they've got here and keep it going, because this is a breath of fresh air. And thanks very much Mr Hawkins, not just for your own great music but sharing this and others I likely would've missed. People who share good art with you are to be treasured.
Probably about 3/4 of paramore's song's have the same structure where on the third and final chorus, they'll usually play the chorus twice, and Hayley will sing it with completely different harmony and on the repeat she'll sing it normal. I love how every melody Hayley comes up with for a song, she always manages to come up with interesting variations and always finds the best places in the songs for them.
It’s on my “What I’m Grateful For” list of 2022! Easily the best viewing experience of the year for me. And it got me to properly listen to The Darkness; kicking meself for not doing that sooner.
Super cool Paramore brought up your show. I didn't know who they were until you talked about "This is why". Was too busy listening to The Darkness when they first came out. love that song, and love the new one the news now. Thanks Justin
Love your channel and insights, I’m getting married this year and “I believe in a thing called love” is a tent pole of our reception celebration! Looking forward to your next vid! Cheers!
Sometimes when I'm sat down with my guitar, on my own with no one around, I'll play and sing "juuuuuuustin hawkins riiides aaaaagain.... aaaagain" (various widly diddlies) That is one surprisingly catchy intro riff and a satisfying falsetto, I think this is why you have huge artists like Paramore talking about the professionalism and quality of this channel, truly a marvel
They were one of the current bands I really latched onto when I was a kid in the 2000s, so it’s great feeling when they continue to release great stuff like this. In really like how the single captures some of that Brand New Eyes era vibes and incorporates it into their current sound.
Loved their first 4 records, and was really impressed by their writing and performances as such young ages. I kinda gave up on them after Josh left, because I loved the songs & guitar parts he would write. When I read recently that Ken Edwards (from Failure) mixed their self-titled "comeback" record, I decided to catch up on their work since the split. It's different, but highly listenable and extremely catchy. Her vocals have always been awesome, so it's cool to see them still out on the ice...
I hope this comment finds you well. Upon watching The Umbrella Academy I can't help but think that the character of Klaus Hargreaves is a pale imitation of you. Love your work, and even more so now that you're doing this wonderful podcast. Thank you for being a sun in this dark and dreary world. XoXo❤
I really like their first two albums. It's not a style of music that I would normally listen to but there was a feeling of being at the edge of control I was getting from them. Musically it felt like they were coming off a blast pad and Hayley's vocals were like a wild stallion that had just freed itself from a corral. Brand New Eyes still had some good songs on it and I thought the refinement and polish that had been applied fit very well. After that they started to come across to me as more "Hayley's band" and it felt more to be all about her and less and them and the music. Because of this, the songs didn't hit me the same way. If they truly are returning to an earlier sound and attracting old fans then I may give them a listen again.
They have also found a new older audience too. Never really got in to them the first time round but, tracks like Ignorance poping in to my Spotify have made me take notice.
you are %1000 right about it being like christmas day for older fans when they drop a new song. when they first released "this is why" i was so excited that they were back and so fuckin happy. i saw "the news" just 3 hours after it was posted on youtube because i couldn't get to sleep and was so fuckin happy when i saw it. tbh i like "the news" better than "this is why" but that's just because i like more rock stuff but i do like em both. i'm so fuckin happy they're back and hope they come to australia.
He's NOT the only one. Geddy Lee likes the progressive and heavy (NOT poppy) side of Paramore. John Kay of Steppenwolf mentioned that his grandchild listens to Paramore. And Kay himself sort of endorsed them.
Adore you Justin and hooked to JHRA. Thanks for all the super entertaining content. For a future comments day, could you discuss how Rufus came to be the drummer for The Darkness please? ❤
Nice compliments on both sides. I remember first time I saw paramore. Give it a name 2006. I remember her saying we were the largest crowd they'd played to at that point. A year or so after 'permission to land', which I bought and loved at the time. I don't have an anecdote. Just think it's ace that you acknowledge eachother. I bought both your records back then. Can I have a goodie bag of sorts?
Almost a mix of The B-52’s and Blondie. Different and, yes, it’s great to see so much rock coming back. I wonder if we might hear something new from The Darkness, you may have heard of them?
Dan mentioned in an interview that you were into progressive stuff at one stage. Did you ever listen to band called the Ozric tentacles and if so what did/do you think about their music? My Dad was the bassist but I never got to meet him.
Absolutely loving the new material from someone who has never previously been a fan before their 80s synth phase a few years back. Let's leave Weezer alone though ;-). I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on their new material.
Justin, I think you should check out waterparks. They're a fantastic pop punk turned more like electronic rock band? I put question marks cause it is hard to nail down their genre now now a days, but the frontman, awsten wants it that way. He also has synesthesia and it plays heavily into their music.
Riot and Brand New Eyes I absolutely loved. I was not moved at all by the follow up album, save for the odd tune "Aint It Fun" for example is one of my favourite tunes. I lost interest after that assuming the writing magic was the combo of Williams and Josh Farro. While her lyrics and vocals are always fantastic, it was only half of what made me love them two albums. But, after hearing this review of the latest single, I think I'll check out the new album!

I'm so excited about their new stuff. I think there’s a really good chance that the upcoming album will become their best work yet. I've been a fan for a while and it’s so nice to see that they are always evolving and trying new things. I just got tickets for the Brazil tour. So excited!
STORY TIME:
For me they were the first band I truly fell in love with, and that I didn't know by proxy.
(The second one) really enjoy your reaction videos to paramore, hope you do one when the full album comes out
Facts! Love your channel.
Loving your analysis and actually seeing a RUclips video where the presenter is actually enjoying the content they are talking about.....well done mr hawkins.....my enjoyment continues unabated.
Been a Paramore fan since day one, and I am constantly amazed with Hailey's voice with every new album ...
Yes!!! I was waiting for you to cover this!!!
This is Why is a banger! I never listened to Paramore that much back in the day when they were huge, but their new stuff has made me a real fan.
I'm so happy i found your channel.. I love listening to you x 😀
It’s on my “What I’m Grateful For” list of 2022! Easily the best viewing experience of the year for me. And it got me to properly listen to The Darkness; kicking meself for not doing that sooner.
Haven’t really listened to Paramore since their early stuff but looking forward to this album, sounds great so far
Imagine paramore doing a cover of “Love on The Rocks With No Ice”.. sounds fantastic in my head .
Cheers!
Sometimes when I'm sat down with my guitar, on my own with no one around, I'll play and sing "juuuuuuustin hawkins riiides aaaaagain.... aaaagain" (various widly diddlies)
That is one surprisingly catchy intro riff and a satisfying falsetto, I think this is why you have huge artists like Paramore talking about the professionalism and quality of this channel, truly a marvel
this is my new favorite Paramore song! I wish there was more of this style on the album :')
They were one of the current bands I really latched onto when I was a kid in the 2000s, so it’s great feeling when they continue to release great stuff like this. In really like how the single captures some of that Brand New Eyes era vibes and incorporates it into their current sound.
i really really like justin's voice and i love when he plays the tracks his reviewing on guitar it pleases me immensely.
what a great musical breakdown, love your quirky energy!
They just keep getting better.
Love 'em.
Your show is fantastic also that watch is stunning (ps I did a darkness tribute in college and it's the most exciting gig I've ever played)
Great review, and yes, it is like Christmas Day!
You are brilliant. My therapy.
Thanks for the diversity in the artists you choose to assess!
You deserve the recognition.
thats so cool that she watched your video about the last song, i absolutely love this song as well!
XoXo❤
love this channel!
The interview that Hayley mentioned you in is how I found you lol I'm an instant fan of your show so thank you
I really like their first two albums.
I’m so glad you like it! And I love listening to your musical breakdowns! Thank you 🙏
I think we’re well overdue a compilation video of all of Justin’s intro theme jingles
Justin. You are too damn cool. I have so much respect for you Sir. Thank you!
Hayley Williams seems to have brilliant taste in music. She's namedropped so many great bands that I like.
@I Just Wanna Talk About Games Calm down.
I heard she is a Rush fan. I think she cited Geddy Lee as an influence. I could hear Geddy and Rush doing "Decode."
4👍thxs again for riding again
From AZ
They have also found a new older audience too. Never really got in to them the first time round but, tracks like Ignorance poping in to my Spotify have made me take notice.
Just after this notification appeared, I get notification of Riffs to learn by Andy Guitar. They are The Darkness riffs!
This song gives major Ignorance vibes, I love it
you are %1000 right about it being like christmas day for older fans when they drop a new song. when they first released "this is why" i was so excited that they were back and so fuckin happy. i saw "the news" just 3 hours after it was posted on youtube because i couldn't get to sleep and was so fuckin happy when i saw it. tbh i like "the news" better than "this is why" but that's just because i like more rock stuff but i do like em both. i'm so fuckin happy they're back and hope they come to australia.
loving the fact that justin hawkins likes paramore!
He's NOT the only one. Geddy Lee likes the progressive and heavy (NOT poppy) side of Paramore. John Kay of Steppenwolf mentioned that his grandchild listens to Paramore. And Kay himself sort of endorsed them.
Been following paramore since they started . It's been amazing to grow up listening to them develop!
Adore you Justin and hooked to JHRA. Thanks for all the super entertaining content.
For a future comments day, could you discuss how Rufus came to be the drummer for The Darkness please? ❤
This song absolutely rocks I’m so glad you’re covering this
Had to check this out. I knew Justin was gonna like it
Have always loved Paramour, especially Hayley’s vocals. Great artists. Thanks for reviewing.
Justin Fucking Hawkins Rides Againnnn 🎸🎼🎵🎶
Did he ever really stop?
@@RByrne No and I hope he never does.
Dan mentioned in an interview that you were into progressive stuff at one stage. Did you ever listen to band called the Ozric tentacles and if so what did/do you think about their music? My Dad was the bassist but I never got to meet him.
"Bound down the stairs and open up the tower pc..." ahahaha...Great episode and always love the insight.
Absolutely loving the new material from someone who has never previously been a fan before their 80s synth phase a few years back.
Let's leave Weezer alone though ;-). I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on their new material.
Great band and Hayley is a fuckin awesome front person.
So glad that you are appreciative of Paramore!
love your channel and all of your reviews!!!! you never disappoint!!!!!
