For armor, one of my favorite armor pieces is a blindfold that dropped from one of the blind monks in the 3rd chapter. It increases the timeframe you have for a perfect dodge.
Why all the hate in this comment section? Have any of you actually played the game? Sure, it has some issues, but some of these comments are just ridiculous. I love Souls games (I’ve literally platinumed every one of them), but Souls fans can really be the worst.
The only issue I have come across in 30 hours of gameplay is just the invisible walls, and invisible walls being in places that very much look like you can go to based on the terrain.
There's definitely a lot this game just doesn't tell you, like the fact that you can respec your stats whenever you want and constantly try new builds and combinations, or how you can use the shrines to travel to previous chapters after you've beaten them ( just found out that from a reddit thread 10 minutes ago 😅).
Love chubai spear just wish I could upgrade my weapons, currently doing the secret stuff in chapter four and doesn’t look like weapon upgrades are a thing yet
Wait for it to be on sale. It’s a good game, but it’s not like the best game ever as the Steam reviews would suggest. It’s much more similar to the recent God of War games than a souls game, familiar feeling combat, exploration, and upgrade system.
I have to disagree. It’s not like GOW at all. There is no real story driven aspect to the game, no map, no overarching goal, and the combat is much less forgiving. Some of the upgrading is similar but much more complex and the character doesn’t speak at all. You don’t have any attachment to the protagonist and most levels you wander around until you find a boss to fight. God of war has less then 20 big boss fights while this game is basically a maze style boss run. It’s 90 percent dark souls but the combat is much better.
how u wanna know the game is good or not while not even owning it and have played it brother? the game looks good and its a banger the reviews speak for itself :-)
I disagree. I love god of war. Just passed ragnarok dlc. The dlc was has very similar aspects to wukong. But theyre still different games. Similar mechanics:upgrades, combat Difference upgrades and combat. They have the same mechanics yet play differently. It works out well
I find the counter that nullifies damage to be the most oddly designed choice and ill explain why and its abit convoluted. So you need to activate your heavy attack mid combo but that can only be done at the end of one of your light attack animations. And the timing is so precise and small that you need to basically time your light attacks end point with the attack of the enemy to actually pull the counter off. Even then sometimes a boss enemy will just phase right through the counter and deal damage to you while also knocking your ass to the ground. I hate they didnt just have a dedicated single press button to counter and instead made it this way.
Yeah I agree. While I enjoy the game it’s mostly frustrating and doesn’t feel fluid. Just need to rely on dodge and basic staff attacks. It’s buggy, the level design isn’t great and I don’t see why everyone is acting like it’s the best game ever. There are 4 of these made every year, it’s nothing new.
I bought the game an hour ago, met up with my first “mini boss” (idk what you’d call them I’m new to this type of game) and let’s just say….i got humbled. Haven’t even played for an hour and I’m already looking up tip videos 😭😭
Imo you don't have to upgrade stamina recovery in the skill tree as its very expensive, and you can get +30 (from 50 base) stamina recovery from celestial medicines for very cheap (best value for them by far)
For example, the bells in chapter 1 are a (pretty easy to find) secret boss. For later chapters, there are hidden walls, collectibles throughout a map which unlock a boss, NPCs that unlock areas etc.
The tree recommendations are to be taken very lightly here. Since you can respec for free, you can basically spec for whatever situation or boss you're going into. Don't underestimate any of your spells.
You mentioned that you can freely switch between different staff upgrades, but I used the boss materials when i made them, so i can't. I'm not sure why yours weren't spent and mine were.
Don't look at this person's skill tree and try to copy it-they must have been testing or something because it was all over the place. 1. Max out the Stamina and Martial Arts tree 2. Fill the in Health/Crit/critDmg/Def/Atk in the Survival tree 3. Only max out points in one combat stance (your favorite) 4. Spend zero points in magic/spirit trees until you're level 90-100 and then start adding points to increase their damage modifiers and time-related enhancements. TLDR: If you have tons of HP, hit and crit hard, and can take a few hits without blowing through all your medicine, you don't need any fluff or magical ability enhancements. Get your core strong and GG.
I disagree. Pretty sure the point of the game is to get use to spells. To really explore all game mechanics. I agree that get your core strong you yourself will be strong. I maxed stmina and martial arts tree first. Survival tho? Ive only needed crit increase at max (+5). Ill be honest. I like that the medicine is available (the mortal medicine) but i havent had a need to use any since you dont really need it at all. Oftenly you have yo combine it with combos, what i do > immobilize the boss while you having 3 focuses> doing full combos with light attacks> after delivering the finishing combo quickly press heavy attack to spent 4 focuses
Immobilize starts to become rather underwhelming the further you go into the game against bosses where basically they break it immediately after one hit That and other issues such as the limited s (almost none) given by resolute strike means that mastering these moves are not satisfying. Almost any boss will almost certainly smack you while trying to do this move. There are also too many underwhelming abilities you would think the game would reward you by being able to perfect dodge, but there is literary no reward for using a perfect dodge since the game doesn’t let you do any follow up like a lot of games that employ such a feature. In one of the trees there is an ability to leave a clone that deals some minor damage by using a perfect dodges, yet the enemy must hit this clone for it to take effect and the damage is minuscule. Often times you are best served by using cheap tactics like using cloud step and charging a full focused attack. This is a very stark difference between games like Wu Kong and other games like Nioh 2, Sekiro and many other Soul games There are also so many spirits but so many of them are trash Some enemies are almost impossible to stagger, you also are incredibly staggered by just about every move in this game It’s a good game but it’s very obvious the master of the craft between the gameplay of this game and others by other developers. I mostly rely on Dodge and Parry with the meter that you fill up by attacking. I would just use my abilities until they grayed out, so to be clear, the cool down only happens if there's mana? it seems kind of silly to have a cool down and mana, rather than one or the other. edit: I guess it's not really silly, I'm just coming off of stellar blade where dodging and parrying feel different meters which allow access to different abilities, and it's just taking a little bit of getting used to for me I guess. Finally a game that has parry mechanics, dodge mechanics multi build possibilities, secret bosses, 25-50hours of gameplay and its from a game studio in China.
There is no parry, you can get a parry effect after unlocking a skill by pressing Heavy attack button in middle of Light attack combo n that too you have to time it. But there is no dedicated parry. There aren't builds builds more like Jedi survivor skill tree where you choose a way that suits you (stance n spell) n dedicate skill points in those trees (though you have infinite free respecs). The Smith that upgrades your Armor doesn't unlock until mid game n thus until then you only have one viable Armor/weapon option - the one that is most recent as it will have the best stats. Choosing builds based on Armor passives is more of an end game thing but again it's not expansive n is closer to what God of war did or assassin's creed Odyssey n Valhalla. I went in with high expectations n got disappointed with all the lack of true RPG mechanics n build variety but the narrative aspect, storytelling, visuals n the overall experience of fighting is lovely, much reminiscent of final fantasy XVI n God of war Ragnarok n I'm now in love with the Chinese mythology. 9.5/10.
@@shaonakoltewhen I first fought the electric frog, I switched to a weaker armor set, the one that you can craft after killing Whiteclad Noble? Seemed to help some.
@@cybo294 yeah so is resolute strike but rock solid is locked behind mana and cooldown n resolute strike is locked behind focus charge.. this is not a parry mechanic which classifies the same as any other action which consumes just stamina like dodging, attacking, blocking (no blocking in the game as well). I'm not hating on the game I absolutely love it I'm 45 hours in n just reaching the final chapter.. it's just more God of war like than Sekiro like.. my expectations were different n I had to readjust them once I started playing it n the original comment also felt like a different expectation similar to mine, so I commented.
Uh this game doesn’t really have a great dodge, parry, multi build system For multi build just go to the many soul games out there For great dodge that feels satisfying to do just play Nioh 2 or any other game since completing a perfect dodge doesn’t reward you with anything in this game For parry just go to many other games like Sekiro or Sekiro clones
I’m level 22 and struggling with the Wandering Wight. However that’s my fault, the game is very good, exceptional graphics and very highly polished. Remember Shadow of the Colossus is just boss fights and folks are still talking about that games quality. I hate this game and love it at the same time.
I had to go back and kill him, but he is one of the most powerful spirits you can get in the game so def worth it! He boosts your defense and once fully upgraded does huge damage and staggers even bosses!
There is a cheese to beat him by maxing out your stamina I found on a video by a guy named grillaz, he explains it, but basically you just sneak up and spam light attack over and over until your stamina gets low, then cast immobilize spell and repeat. When he falls let your stamina build as much as possible before repeating and he'll never get to hit you
Go play dark souls then, you people are so weird to me. You all would love to just get the same game over and over again. Innovation is a good thing bro
Definitely this game is worth checking out, a blast so far. Sure the paths are somewhat guided by invisible barriers but it is a great looking game, even on ps5 balanced settings. PC version is where the detail is great !
I finished it and i recommend it specially if your playing it blind it's so rare for Developers put an effort in designing Bosses maybe its abit easier compare to other soulslike but its not the criteria for player enjoyment, just being a Monkey fighting Demons and Later gods is so epic
It’s all about timing. This isn’t a “mash buttons till you win” game. You have watch the bosses moveset, and remember how it attacks. As soon as they get close, roll out of the way, and then do a flurry of light attacks, only to roll out the way again. Every boss has a specific moveset. Some will attack 3 times in a row, then stop, giving you a chance to hit and build up your focus bar. Timing is the only way you’ll beat the bosses. Try to focus on just surviving a boss without hitting first. Watch out for when you need to roll. You’ll very quickly learn their pattern
These games are always hard at the start. You have to push through, level up then at a certain point everything just clicks, u understand exactly what u are doing and can kick ass.
Don’t give up. I used to think I couldn’t play these types of games then gave Elden Ring a chance and got completely hooked and I’m hooked now. You can do it just take some time to play around with your timing and practice. You got this
Bro… BRO BRO BRO! No, do you hear me!? NO, don’t give up. These types of games are the best, they make you sharper as a gamer in just about every game. Just look up a free guides (non cheese of course) and you’ll love it.
No dedicated single press counter button or deflect or block but hey apparently this is the best game in centuries. Even DMC2 had such basic combat mechanics....
now imagine a modern action game that tells you how all this through tutorials rather than saying "screw it, elden ring didn't do it so we don't have to either."
I’m seeing so many people having trouble fighting the bosses. Remember guys, timing is everything in games like this. Your roll is the most important weapon IMO. You want to watch the boss and learn their attack patterns, and watch how many times they hit so you can roll out the way each time, and then take advantage of the opening. Every time you come back, you should be hitting light combos and building your focus meter, until you have a bigger opening to put down more damage. Go into a fight and just try to stay alive for a while first just by dodging and rolling. It will quickly show you just how predictable their attack patterns are. They only have a certain amount of movesets each.
How can you talk of timing when the game has delayed inputs, combos don't register and the attack animations even with lockon settings tend to veer away from the enemies. I guess maybe if you are on the PC or developed the game but even a blind person can see the game has annoying flaws and issues that make basic combat annoying.
@jolt187 see thing is I don't feel it's a need of an easy mode. Just make a game that has functioning button inputs and also animations that make basic combat flow better. With a counter deflect parry or block button a lot would be fixed. You would know if it's a timing issue or skill issue or just technical issue. Just releasing an easy mode doesn't fix a game..... ask CDPR they know about that.
Its definitely easier than a souls game. But it is mechanically similar, it plays more like the OG god of war games just with upgraded graphics. It is a good game!
This is just a lie. I didnt say "i dont recommend this game, wait for a sale", I said if you arent familiar with JttW, wait for a sale. Alot of the meaning behind locations, NPCs, short stories etc. will be lost on you unless you go through the effort of researching the novel.
As much as I like the concept, souls games bring a certain level of immersion and personal customization that I feel black myths story being derived from an old eastern masterpeice will actually take away from the initial draw of action rpg/soulsbourne players. It looks beautiful, but I imagine rise of the ronin will somehow do better.
Rise of the Ronin is 100x better. The combat is so exciting and rewarding. Also you can adjust difficulty. Even after 70hrs I wanted more. Its my GOTY Black Myth isn't bad, but Im having trouble getting excited to play
If you’re on PS5, definitely wait. But if you have a half decent PC couldn’t recommend this enough. Even on medium setting game looks amazing and the combat is *chef’s kiss*

@@sammysokosammysoko stellar blade is south Korean. The Chinese don't usually make international releases because of the CCP, but when they do, they dump a lot of money into it to impress the world and validate them as a superpower. It's really interesting to look into
@@sammysokosammysoko stellar blade was south Korea. The Chinese rarely make international releases because they try to CAREFULLY curate their cultural image to the world. Fun fact
@@shaonakolte I would consider rock solid a parry
Uh this game doesn’t really have a great dodge, parry, multi build system
For multi build just go to the many soul games out there
For great dodge that feels satisfying to do just play Nioh 2 or any other game since completing a perfect dodge doesn’t reward you with anything in this game
For parry just go to many other games like Sekiro or Sekiro clones
Great Video Guide! 👍👍👍
Have the game and plan on playing it after work, so this video helps out bigtime for me.
I would love to play this game, but with no difficulty setting, I would get nowhere. lol
Which stance is better for chapter 1 please suggest me
I’m level 22 and struggling with the Wandering Wight. However that’s my fault, the game is very good, exceptional graphics and very highly polished. Remember Shadow of the Colossus is just boss fights and folks are still talking about that games quality. I hate this game and love it at the same time.
There is another boss in the area kill it first
@@VincentVarieur yes I got that one thanks. Much easier than this Bastige with the massive head.
I had to go back and kill him, but he is one of the most powerful spirits you can get in the game so def worth it! He boosts your defense and once fully upgraded does huge damage and staggers even bosses!
@@NatetheGr891 yes, thank you. Level 23 now, getting closer to beating him.
There is a cheese to beat him by maxing out your stamina I found on a video by a guy named grillaz, he explains it, but basically you just sneak up and spam light attack over and over until your stamina gets low, then cast immobilize spell and repeat. When he falls let your stamina build as much as possible before repeating and he'll never get to hit you
wiki for this game when!?
Already have one blackmythwukong.wiki.fextralife.com/Black+Myth+Wukong+Wiki
I wish they would have gone full on souls like with it but it’s still a great game
Go play dark souls then, you people are so weird to me. You all would love to just get the same game over and over again. Innovation is a good thing bro
11:30 people still trying to find endings? i thought those things can be found by data mining
The Pillar stance destroys the dragon boss ...
This game i find it harder than elden ring. I think i did elden ring ranged and with shield which i best the game with. This one is waay harder
That’s because Elden Ring has too many broken stuff
On the other hand Wukong almost everything is underwhelming
Definitely this game is worth checking out, a blast so far. Sure the paths are somewhat guided by invisible barriers but it is a great looking game, even on ps5 balanced settings. PC version is where the detail is great !
the horse dude in chapter 1🤔 seems no one else is mentioning him?
I didn’t find him until chapter 2 tbh. After that I’ve found him in 3 and four what does he give you in chapter one?
you meet him in every chapter
Haha I back tracked and found him, very fun battle to get his abilities. Definitely a cool addition
After looking up a guide video I did find the horse in chapter one, I just didn’t realize it was a horse lmao. He’s clearly a horse in chapter 2 lmao
This voice of the video is throwing me off from the usual videos narration. Hope all is well
Cas is the usual voice and he’s at gamescom. Tyr has been a team member for years so hopefully you can listen to him too now and then :)
@@FextralifeNope sorry. We want him gone! Now! We’re calling the police, and the police’s manager! Lol
Running smooth on my 3070 on high settings.
Knowing i can get my upgrade mats back is a game changer i havent upgraded anything yet. Badly explained in game.
Is it actually good or just sexy because of the controversy?
i love it, btw there isnt any controversy really, only made up.
I finished it and i recommend it specially if your playing it blind it's so rare for Developers put an effort in designing Bosses maybe its abit easier compare to other soulslike but its not the criteria for player enjoyment, just being a Monkey fighting Demons and Later gods is so epic
Fantastic game. The environments are mind blowing
A lot of this talk gets lost on players who literally just started the game
I regret buying this game I’m not good at these games… I don’t understand the mechanics
@@MarioGoatsevery good tips.
How do you do that spin move with the pillar stance?
what happened to your voice dude?
No dedicated single press counter button or deflect or block but hey apparently this is the best game in centuries.
Even DMC2 had such basic combat mechanics....
12 hrs in and I feel like every corner in the game has a boss lmaoooo. Worth the money I say.
This game is 10/10 dont sleep guys
This is a soul imitation game
Don’t know if this was said, but if you use imobilize and then staff spin you do alright damage and amazing focus gain
Vote for Pedro
Why do these tutorials have to show so many boss spoilers.
I mean to be fair most of the game is boss fights. Seems like constantly fighting one.
Why do people watch these type of videos if they don't want spoilers? Especially if the video doesn't include "spoiler free"??
Cause it's just about killing bosses
Cause it's just about killing bosses
Watch AOE from enemies they’re the lamest part of combat definitely will steal the fun in a fight you’re having fast.
now imagine a modern action game that tells you how all this through tutorials rather than saying "screw it, elden ring didn't do it so we don't have to either."
No dynamic tone mapping this is not very colourfull is darn dull
It's not bad advice, but at the same time, bosses like Whiteclad Noble having a 20 hit combo before you get to do anything is just silly.
@@spccew9818 For moves like that, you just need to get out of the AOE.
How can you talk of timing when the game has delayed inputs, combos don't register and the attack animations even with lockon settings tend to veer away from the enemies.
I guess maybe if you are on the PC or developed the game but even a blind person can see the game has annoying flaws and issues that make basic combat annoying.
@@kronosleblu888 theyre coming out with an easy mode for players struggling
@jolt187 see thing is I don't feel it's a need of an easy mode. Just make a game that has functioning button inputs and also animations that make basic combat flow better.
With a counter deflect parry or block button a lot would be fixed. You would know if it's a timing issue or skill issue or just technical issue.
Just releasing an easy mode doesn't fix a game..... ask CDPR they know about that.
Games weird…. I dont know, it’s definitely no Souls-Like, whoever said that, never played one.
Its definitely easier than a souls game. But it is mechanically similar, it plays more like the OG god of war games just with upgraded graphics. It is a good game!
I refunded this game on steam lol
Why
downvoting because this video has WAY too much content for 'beginners' and spoiled quite a bit - booo :(
.
if yuo dosent use controller it sucks
I use mouse and keyboard and it's great.
Idk why but when this guy speaks I just lose all interest in watching
Why are you making these videos if you don't recommend getting the game and waiting for a sale?🤷
Because some people have bought the game anyway 🤷
For people who like the game??
@@blacklily250 Practice what you preach
This is just a lie. I didnt say "i dont recommend this game, wait for a sale", I said if you arent familiar with JttW, wait for a sale. Alot of the meaning behind locations, NPCs, short stories etc. will be lost on you unless you go through the effort of researching the novel.
@@chikaokoye8405 Then don't worry about it 😉
As much as I like the concept, souls games bring a certain level of immersion and personal customization that I feel black myths story being derived from an old eastern masterpeice will actually take away from the initial draw of action rpg/soulsbourne players. It looks beautiful, but I imagine rise of the ronin will somehow do better.
Ok if generic open world is your thing
You obviously haven't played this game so keep your seemingly detailed opinions out of this conversation 😂😂
Doubt it
I’ve played both rise of the ronin and black myth wukong, and I can for sure say this game is leagues above that game.
Rise of the Ronin is 100x better. The combat is so exciting and rewarding. Also you can adjust difficulty. Even after 70hrs I wanted more. Its my GOTY
Black Myth isn't bad, but Im having trouble getting excited to play
I just can’t bring myself to pull the trigger on this game. Maybe when it’s $19.99.
Same here. Then my gf bought it for me as a gift😅
If you’re on PS5, definitely wait. But if you have a half decent PC couldn’t recommend this enough. Even on medium setting game looks amazing and the combat is *chef’s kiss*
That'll be in like 5 years. Sekiro came out in 2019 and is still 40 50 bucks.
Then you’re just cheap. 70 for this is absolutely worth it
@@Mavs-1 It looks great on my PS5 and its running smoothly with performance mode and motion blur turned off.
First ? No one cares. Nice video tho keep it up!
It’s just a boss fighting simulator.
What a strange comment. So is every Souls game with that logic. Not sure what you expected
With six hours of play I am getting bored and unfortunately, I cannot return the game.
Skill issues for sure. Git gud.
@@xcenic why do you think that? The game isn't hard it is boring. The combat isn't much different than any other smash game but with nothing else to offer. 100% souls games because they are fun. Hell, even Dragon's Dogma 2 was fun while the combat was easy. Git gud, LMAO.
@@PowderKeg3838obvious troll is obvious
@PowderKeg3838 you can put more effort into your trolls than that
A lot of people mention getting bored around the start of chapter 2. Try pushing a bit further the levels open up and it gets a bit more interesting. But ofc not every game appeals to everyone
Kind of lame you can waste an upgrade on the 1st healing gourd. Still a great game but, REALLY?
The first gourd you get becomes the best gourd later in the game giving you 10 sips
Yo can I get pinned it is my bday today
Not pinning but happy birthday!

Ya man this looks good but the amount of currencies upgrade systems and powers just sounds like gibberish. Reminds me of God of War 2. Just don’t have time for that BS
if you spend all your time comparing things, you'll never be truly satisfied... comparison is the thief of joy my friend
@@SteppingStoneforlifeonmaxlvl what am I comparing? I said the game reminds me of another game that had similar systems that made it less fun. That’s how you evaluate if you might like a game, by evaluating if it is similar to other games you played.
The game is super fun. I love all the leveling and picking out what I can upgrade each time. Just try the game. You went be disappointed.
Game is just one long boss run...no real sense of exploration, finding stuff....etc. Just one boss right after another...while I do enjoy boss fights there are way too many.
New GOW series did the same. Twice.
lol you must have not gotten far! Starting in chapter 2 each map gets progressively HUUUUGE to the point it’s overwhelming with pathways and secrets and things to explore.
There are secret areas and bosses on every level. The best gear is found by exploring. You can find buffs and upgrade items.
