1466 and 1066 are 2 of my favorite old IH tractors
Open-air cab, chrome exhaust pipe.......I could listen to that International all day. He's getting after it!! 👍🏻👍🏻
It’s the way it was. It’s great to catch this type of farming in action.
Yeah no muffler gets old fast. Lack of hearing is only nice when the wife is chewing me out for buying another tractor. But it’s embarrassing as hell when the deer takes the apple out of your hand on opening day. 😹😹😹
@@ram_diesel_power6039 No muffler acceptable for tractor pulls and parades. Otherwise nope!
@@bigtractorpower .
Wow! He needs to throttle that thing back when making them sharp ass turns.
It's rough as hell on all the tractor components - brakes, differential, front wheels and tie rod ends when you whip things around like that!
Love to hear the sound of them old tractors!! Thanks for sharing
The DT 436 engine has a great sound. 👍👍
The way farming should be!
Nothing better than a black stripe. Crazy how hard those single offset disks pull.
He needs some hearing protection!! Been there on a Case 930 Comfort King. Sound level is amusing at first, but soon gets exhausting.
Bought our 1466 in 1975, came from factory without TA. Used to pull 5-16 and 10 ft Bush hog offset plow in our clay base soil. Still going strong.
Roger I’m almost 70 ran a 1456 if I’m correct bough new in 1972 cut a lot of corn and hay silage, I was just 18 my job was cutting silage with a a 2 row JD cutter and dump wagon..dad said to drive it hard and that I did the only weak spot for us was the pto clutch pack…into like the third wk I parked it in a step ditch (so I didn’t need to drain the rear ended fluids)and pulled the clutch pack out the back,,,can’t remember what I did but I added something to the clutch pack ;threw it back together an it never failed again..the purr of her on cool nights still remands deep with in me…be safe , and my God bring an end to this messed up world
@@jackwillie2729 Had a 1456 as well, and you couldn’t wear it out. We also had a 1206 and a couple 806’s that really supported a big farming operation well. Had a little 560 we pulled a stock cutter and mower with, a C and a M, we used to run augers and roll corn back in the 70’s. Those red tractors always ran like a dream!
THOSE are some HARD Pulling Disc! "NICE" Pair too.
Our neighbor had a 966 and 1066 with 210 John Deere disk. Covered a lot of ground with those two rigs. Love to hear the engines on those old tractors under load working the ground.
All these old tractors working the fields lately is great! Especially an open station like this. Good looking old machine right there too. I hope that old boy had ear plugs in, because while that thing sounded great to me, it had to be LOUD sitting only a few feet back. Looked like he could use at least 4 more weights up front for a lot of this video, but maybe those were all he had available.
I love it
The farm I worked on growing up had a 966 with a cab. We thought it was a big deal for a small upstate NY dairy farm. Pulled a IH 4 bottom plow, discs, baler, corn picker, and manure spreader in the winter.
It was a big deal my friend

Uk it on on
You know what's a real hot set up. Is when you put a turbo on a 966 .. really transforms the tractor into a real shorter! Same thing for JD 4020s too.
We had a 1984 IH 3688 we put a turbo on after it went off warranty. That thing was a FUN tractor to run!
You in a van down by the river👍👍👍🚜🚜🚜🚜
Own a black stripe 1066 I bought from the original owner 30 years ago. Used to be my primary tractor for tillage, planting, chopping, and manure hauling. Now it's used for PTO work( ag bagger, manure pump), no till drilling, and windrow merging. It's never leaving this farm!
I use a 1975 1466 it pulls a 24ft 490 disk and 24ft field cultivator love it
Nice video, Kentucky looks just like my landscape here in Nova Scotia. Nice to see people who love running old antique tractors
Thanks, Jason for another fabulous Old Iron video. I could listen to that tractor all day.
It’s a great engine sound.
My great uncle had an old 966 and ran a 12 foot John Deere disk. After he died, we lost the tractor but got the disk. We have a 1998 Massey Ferguson 4243 with 85 hp that pulls it fine now. Just got a new 104 hp Kubota but its not her turn for the disk yet. That Massey pulls it just fine.
Thank You Very Much That Was Awesome.
One of the best tractors ever made. I sure hope that operator is wearing ear plugs.
He is.
Love the oh good video 👍📸🍻😎
It was biggest tractor I ever drove in 1970, pulling 6 18”s.
Very cool.
I still have a 1466. But you really need a 5- bottom plow if your prepping for corn.
We had one from 1972 until 1996. Great tractor, never let us down. John T.
Very nice.
That old girl has her hands full with that off-set disc
My first tractor and disk was just like that. I was 19 years old.
that brings back memories!
I have a 1066 IH my dad bought brand new in 1971. Has 4100 hours on it. He farmed with it and also pulled in tractor pulls. To this day nothing has ever been done to the engine except for a new fuel pump.
Worked on an organic farm that had a 186 Hydro. We used it on hay and it also powered a compost turner which needed the slow speed. It had good power but would not out pull my 4020.
Thoroughly enjoyed!
That is classic red power doing its job. A pretty straight looking black stripe.. sounds good too..
Love the old iron! She sounds great! The way that sod is workin'...I believe I would have put a turning plow to it first.
qoø
Really cool video would like to see what the farmer does next cuz that ground really rough with that offset disk
My son and I still own two 1066 and one 1466. They all crank and run great.
Very cool.
Awesome video we had a 1066 black strip and a 966 and a 986 and 1586 was all great tractors
With the price of grain there will Thousands of acres of grass turned under.
I just love to see the old iron hard at work😁💪
You have an excellent voice and presentation style. I like the new and old machines equally. Just finished waterway tillage with a John Deere 5525 and I-H chisel plow today eastern Iowa.
Red power
😁👍👍
We are still currently using a 7, a 10, and a 14 in south central Indiana. The 10 and 14 are 1973 models and the 7 is a 1975. Great tractors.
Very nice. Do they have cabs?
All open stations
Hello! Full power hard disquing!
I use a 1977 IH 674 with a sprayer mounted on the rear and front tank & a 1989 CaseIH 885xl I use for drilling cereals and on occasion use a Lemken 4 furrow reversible plough, here in the UK. did have the priviege to drive a Farmall 966 a couple of weeks ago at a friends plow day
I have an old Inter 1066, these days all it does is run a Seko feed mixer. Here in Aus they were fitted with a different type of mudguards, more rounded. It has rear duelled wheels just like the one in your video. Regards from Down Under.
Fabulous
I just brought a 1486 yesterday. Plan on pulling my IH 490 disk and Wilrich 21 ft. field cultivator this spring.
Congratulations. Very nice.
If he travelled a little slower would get better job, disc is heavy enough to do a good job.
q
can't beat the old ih farmall didn't even bog her down when he dropped the disc.
💪🏼👌🏻
Good ol tractors
Kentucky is big on no till planting. They usually just burn the grass down with round up and then plant. I guess this pasture has been there for quite some time if he's discing it up. Offset discs are a lot more aggressive.
Kentucky is the home of no till farming. The first no till field ever was planted in 1962 in Herndon, KY. There is a variety of planting and tillage practices done in the state varying from no till to deep tillage. The farm in this video farms mostly river bottom ground which requires tillage each year. This is an old pasture and they decided chopping and filling over the grass was the best course of action to build a seed bed.
Great awesome video Jason
I love that old iron out in the field. Good looking tractor. Great video.
The 66 series are solid tractors.
Hello everyone good vidéo big tractor power i like the sounds of the case harvesters 1466
The 66 series has a great sound.
Would love to sit in the seat just for a couple of hrs…and he’d take the risk of me never given him the ride back…brings back memories of a 18 yr old kid that felt the power back in 1973 cut thousands of corn acres into silage it’s power surpassed the 4630 JD. We had
Spent many hours of my childhood in a 966 with FWA
Very cool to have a 966 with FWA.
My Dad had 1566 around 1979, biggest hunk of junk that was ever on our farms.. P.S. I like this guys tractor....
👍👍👍👍👍🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Jason when I first subscribed to your channel and the first time I saw it I should say you were reviewing a John Deere tractor articulating tractor then I subscribed right after that I’ve been hooked ever cents this is Brad from Minnesota
We had a 1066 for 15 years
That tractor looks beautiful and powerful but it needs a roof for the operator 😏
Unfortunately no internationals were used by my family. My uncle and grandfather ran alischalmers equipment. But I do understand why they don't hear so well straight pipes and no cabs except one tractor. I was fortunate enough to get to drive some older equipment when I was a kid helping them . Best times of my life driving a wd46 while picking stones at 10 years old .
Drove a 4320 pulled a John Deere cutting disk.
✌️✌️✌️
Back in 1972 I bought a brand new 1066 w/ a 6 bottom plow for 18500. So after the prices went sky high
Put a lot of hours in on one of those back in the day
Has this setup been filmed before? Feel like I've seen it before or a very similar set.
That straight pipe had a sound didn't it? Cool video.
Thank you for watching.
i found they had to much rpm and it not enough tq, would lug down when in a bind, the JD tactors would hold their 1800 rpm these rev to 2400 but
Mon 1046 enmene 30 disques également
Very cool. 😁👍👍
Good looking tractor. No stupid plastic panels make all the difference. Needs a muffler though. That’s a lot of sod to chop up. Is discing better than moldboard plowing in this case?
The disking works well and moves faster. The second pass is less rough behind an offset disk rather than slabs left by a plow.
Looks like the screen behind the grill is getting stopped up
My dad has 2 1568’s. One open station that’s restored and a cab tractor that we use on the farm.
Nebraska dyno called it 145 at the PTO. That's within spitting distance of a 4630.
I always go by the company sales literature specs. The 66 series are well known for putting out much higher horse power than their factory ratings.
@@bigtractorpower yes sir, I meant no argument. It just got me thinking that while the 1466 should have been a competitor to the 4430, it was probably closer to the power of a 4630. Those binders made a lot of power and they could put it to the ground too. Cool old iron.
How can he do this without GPS? 😉
hope he dont let the hills wash away .
They won’t.
What's the secondary tillage on that farm?
Disking and then a Reel Disk.
Our 140 acre farm 2 international 584, a john deere b, and a f12. My uncle then bought used in the mid 90s this exact same kind of tractor and it did as much work in the field as 3 of the tractors combined. Then he sold it in 2009 and it sits at the farm down the road in like 3 pieces its saddens me. But I'm chomping at the bits for the 2 584s and the f12. Not a fan of the green paint
so much grass being turned in that not much fertiliser will be needed?
No new DEF railway shipping , no new fertilizer! Many other things are band as well!
👏👏👏👍👍💪💪💪🚜🚜🚜👌👌🇧🇷
Look up CF IND can’t take new rail orders! (UP RR !)
I farm beef cattle in saskatchewan canada I have a ih 766 966 1066 1466 and just bought a 1566 but it has been sitting for over 18 years runs good but put it in gears would move split it the clutch is good so guess I will have to go deeper into it
Was'nt the 1466 145hp pto, hp, 1566 160 pto hp, 1066 125 pto hp
Yes and know. In 1976 the 1066 was increased from 115 to 125 hp and the 1466 from 133 to 145 hp. I should have listed 145 hp because this is a 1976 model but from 1971-1975 the 1466 was 133 hp. Ultimately the 66 series tend to offer allot more hp than advertised. This tractor can turn out 175 hp pretty easy.
you need to go other places other than western Kentucky
I live in Western Kentucky. I film in a 120 mile radius to film these tractors. WKY provides a nice mix of new 2022 machines and classics. I travel up to Il and IN to film and out to Iowa. I have friends filming for BTP in OK, IL, WI and NY for the channel.
@@bigtractorpowerYea but the videos are more likely to get popular when each one is in a different state just saying
What year was that
It’s so loud that it sounds like it is laboring hard for such a small disk on the back!
Smaller disk in width but it’s digging in 6 inches and flipping sod so it’s working.
