I found this quite easy to follow:Pinyin's c- initial is simply a "ts" sound. It's like the "ts" you hear in the English words "cats" and "Watson" and "robots".
@@CCChineseTeacher Yes, I know. I can make the sound when by itself... I can't when it is part of a word, such as cài. Cài sounds a bit like "Thai" to me, like "Thai food."
Pinyin is rubbish. "c" is like kh. "can" food is like khan. Use your ears. If you have an electronic voice analyzer it would be helpful. Just as in speech the spoken words at speaking speed is different from the isolated word. Like "I dunno" versus "I don't know". Also many teacher arefrom different provinces and have different dialects so it might have a slightly different pronunciation. In Cantonese person is "yan" or "yun" but in Mandarin it is "ren" but I hear most of the teachers say "yan".
Please continue your work is very quality work
