As a little sheep in Zootopia, Dawn Bellwether (Jenny Slate) endured a life of insults and belittlement, especially from predatory animals. She eventually reached a breaking point and decided to knock the predators down a peg. Using a toxic flower called a night howler, she synthesized a drug that causes predators to go feral to spread pandemonium.
Bellwether is lacking compared to other female Disney villains in personality, but her plan is quite sinister. She has no remorse for the prejudice she is spreading, nor does she really care about elevating prey species above predators. It's all just a veil for her own selfish ambition.

Finally... Somebody has something good to say about king Magnifico from Disney's Wish. I feel that he is over hated.
If you think about it, he is like half of the disney villain fandom. He has magic powers, desires the respect and obedience of those under him,he is entertaining (Maleficent, Scar, Judge Frollo....) etc. And if anyone feels he is misunderstood in some way, then he is like the other half of the disney villain fandom (Yzma, Edgar, Shere Khan...).
Long story short, I find him cool and nobody is telling me otherwise.

I'm very happy to see that you guys picked John Silver for 2002. He's definitely the most underrated Disney villain of all time. He's one of the many, many reasons why Treasure Planet's an underrated masterpiece. He was unlike anything that Disney has ever created before and sadly for obvious reasons, we may never get another Disney villain like him. He's such a sympathetic, complex, three-dimensional, morally-gray, memorable, and even relatable antagonist. He may be a cutthroat, ruthless, dangerous, scheming, cunning, and menacing cyborg pirate, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a heart of gold at all (or even a conscience for that matter). He becomes the father that the movie's hero, Jim Hawkins, wish he had. He changes the boy's life for the better. Had Jim never went on that voyage and met Silver, he would've never had a bright and prosperous future. Not only did Silver change Jim, but Jim changed Silver as well as proven by Silver's redemption near the end of the film. And if Silver's Makings of Greatness speech isn't enough to solidify his character, then I don't know what does. The late Brian Murray did an amazing job voicing Silver and for his performance on Silver alone should be more than enough for him to be recognized as a Disney Legend just like Robin Williams was for Genie.

    • @1992disney
      @1992disney 8 месяцев назад +1

I'd like to give Scroop an honorable mention. He's the secondary antagonist from the same movie as John Silver. He's almost the complete opposite of Silver. He does things throughout the film that Silver himself wouldn't, even if he tried. Scroop attempts to slaughter Jim Hawkins twice, successfully-murders Mr. Arrow by cutting off his lifeline, making him scream in doom as he falls straight into the black hole, gets Jim falsely-blamed for Mr. Arrow's untimely demise, and tries to expose Silver as a big ol' softie just for his affection towards Jim right in front of their whole pirate gang in hopes that they'll turn on him and even kill him. Scroop's one of the scariest, if not, THE scariest Disney villain of all time. He's such an evil, violent, blood-thristy, cruel, cold-hearted, selfish, sadistic, and psychotic (Is it any wonder why Jim calls him a spider psycho?) eight-legged monster.

Bruce is not really a villain, in fact, he was actually a friendly and somewhat bumbling character, is committed to the cause and wants to be a vegetarian shark and his slogan is "Fish are friends, not food". Sure, he does do his creppy face at Marlin and Dory in his first appearances, but he was making fun with them (mostly on Marlin) and the only reason he went after Marlin and Dory because there's a bit of blood that hypnotized him.

While I have heard that people complain here and there that these newer villains are getting less and less "truly villainous", I personally actually really _really_ like this trend of having more complex and layered villains. I believe that it adds more humanity to them, allowing us, the audience, to both feel empathy for them and talk about some actual and harsh real life problems. Instead of laughing at cartoony villains, exploring these problems is way more valuable, in my opinion.

I got to work with, and was personal friends with, the late Dale Baer, who was the principal animator of Yzma. While he didn't work directly for Disney until "The Emperor's New Groove" (as part of his own company, Baer Animation, he worked on many Disney characters) I have zero doubt that for over twenty years before then, Dale was the best animator in the world who *didn't* work for Disney. On "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," he was the animator trusted with drawing Mickey when Mickey and Bugs Bunny dropped in the sky with Eddie Valiant (Bob Hoskins).

Actually, that dialogue you came up with would make sense in an "epilogue" moment after the events of the short. Since Hans was in the picture behind Anna & Elsa, maybe he snuck in at the last moment and they didn't see him until after the picture was taken.

I don’t think Bruce should be considered a villain because it’s clearly Marlin’s fault. Dory was trying to ask the sharks to read Dr. Sherman’s address on the mask, but Marlin tried to stop her because he was afraid to lose her since he said later in the movie during the John Ratzenberger school of fish that no other fish in the ocean was gonna help him find Nemo but Dory, leading to the drop of Dory’s blood that threw Bruce overboard. So, yeah. I know Marlin needed help, but he needs to let others who are helping him to get more help. Secondly, if Marlin let Dory ask the sharks for help, the sharks would’ve killed Dr. Sherman and Darla in the final battle of Finding Nemo, and the movie would’ve been turned into a rated R shark horror disaster, leading to an early death for Pixar and Finding Dory would’ve had a villain, which is Darla’s father and Dr. Sherman’s younger brother, voiced by William Atherton aka Walter Peck from Ghostbusters, and his name would be Walter Sherman. Finally, Bruce is actually considered an antihero and he and his buddies are actually my favorite Pixar characters ever. Did you know that?

19:34 - 20:49 = The list that MsMojo made on the Top 24 Best Disney Villains of Each Year (2000-2023), is very biased and flawed at the very worst; for Msmojo truly snubbed and taken out of the villainous performances of Shere Khan and Gaston on its respective list of Top 24 Best Disney Villains of Each Year (2000-2023), of which these performances were seen as the best and were widely praised by both critics and audiences, and such performances should have been listed and mentioned on the Best Disney Villains of Each Year (2016, 2017).
25:43 = Moreover, the villainous performance of Baroness von Hellman in 2021's Cruella should have also be further elaborated, as that performance was also widely praised, alongside with its complex characterization, and it should have been listed on the list of 2021's Best Disney Villains.

I would replace those villains with the following:
2000 - The Carnotaurs from DINOSAUR
2009 - Charles Muntz from UP
    2010 - Lotso from TOY STORY 3
2011 - Blackbeard from PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES

Well she's very controlling and abusive towards her whole family, especially Mirabel, and her trauma's used as an excuse for her toxicity. The movie tries so hard to make us feel sorry for her, but how can anyone with common sense sympathize with a cruel and irredeemable person like her?
