    It's like the Spitfire and the Bf109 mated to have a Eurofighter Typhoon.

    • @swunt10
      @swunt10 3 года назад +3

      Technically that's correct. Messerschmitt (Messerschmitt-Bölko-Blohm) came up with the eurofighter design in the 70's, then called TKF-90, so the eurofighter is a Messerschmitt at heart just like the Bf109

      Obviously not.
      The only combat the German Air Force fighters saw since WW2 was back in 1999 in Kosovo when German Tornado ECRs helped to fight against the Serbian air defense.
      They fired 236 HARM missiles during the conflict.
      Apart from that the German Air Force basically only flew reconnaissance and air policing missions, no combat operations.
      Countries like Israel or the USA have of course far more combat experience.

      The potential of a centralized EU military runs completely counter to the UK's own security interests, which are much more global. The CANZUK sphere is deeply intertwined with the USA, Japan and India in the Indo-Pacific. Many EU nations have little interest in that region, and NATO interoperability is still strong despite Brexit, making a split along this issue logical and almost inevitable.
      Economically speaking the picture is similar. The UK has needs and interests that extend beyond the scope of the EU and clash with it's centralizing policy. China is the EU's biggest trade partner, while the UK government is currently using threat of economic sanctions as pressure on the PRC over political issues such as crimes against the Uyghur minorities and aggression against Indo-Pacific allies. The USA and the nations of the Indo-Pacific offer a wide array of trading partners for the UK to cooperate with outside of the restrictive agreements of the EU. So economic slowdown will not be as intense over the long term as naysayers have suggested; especially if the EU does not deliberately sabotage the relationships of member states wth the UK out of spite for leaving.
      Brexit is such a funny bit of politics. The only reason I can gather why people support staying is the hope that the EU would have paved over the native social politics of the nation, removing the requirement to pay any regard for their dissenting countrymen. Pretty gross, honestly. Glad that the UK won out in the end.

Neither will China, Pakistan, India or Israel. That leaves one. Russia. When in any mind blowing world do you imagine the UK and Russia will engage in firing nuclear weapons at each other, without NATO, UN and anyone else getting involved?
