It was a fun watch, I hope to see Charlie in more collabs in the future
Okay, so it's been a veeeeeeeeery long time since I've played MTG, but given that the faerie was a creature, does that not bypass the cost increase of Grand Arbiter? I recall there being a difference between creatures and spells like instants, sorceries, enchantments, artifacts, etc.
I watched it and it was Hilarious! I laughed through the whole episode!
@Eragon057 anything you cast is a spell, including creatures. The only cards that aren't spells are lands.

The best part is how he didn't eveen fully understand what was going on (I guess he just read the lines of cost reduction and didn't read the one that makes opponents pay more)

Well, when i played magic the most repeated expresion was "leer es cantrip" which would be like saying "the best play is to read cards carefully".
@Plonom I didn't find that out till recently and I was like whaaaat? Lol but it makes sense now I see it like a spell book and you use spells to bring out creatures.
The fast deadpan "you make me sick" killed me when I first heard it.
It was also cast at instant speed.

I once had 2 of them in play against me... there were 2 staX players. My abilities costes 5 more but the end of the game....

I love Charlie entering the Magic content scene because he's so quick with his quips. They're never like, mean, but they're fast and they're funny.
i like that he makes more misplays than a person who hasnt played magic for 10 years... and even then was 1 game
I hope we get a short of Grand Arbiter making Prof mad about Mana Crypt, you can see the actual second he mentally snaps. Made me laugh every time
And everyone talking about how embarrassing it is to pay mana for a 0 cost spell. Prof was ready to implode.

Charlie's plunge into Magic is what got me into the game recently, this game was fun to watch.
I would like to remind everyone that Prof himself set Voxy up with an azorius commander, an element she never plays

Cards like this are why I have the card silence in my deck. 1W, instant: Target player cannot cast spells this turn. I've literally never used it for an optimal play. I've only ever used it when someone made me angry, like I would be if I couldn't play my 4 drop with tempo.
Silence costs (W) to cast.
Cool card. Gives you advantage while everyone is behind a turn. You definitely will take agro though, so make it count
Charlie was such a great fit, I hope they're able to coordinate more collabs with him.
The problem is that, iirc, Charlie has a big fear of planes which is why in this episode they're not filming at the usual location, because as far as I know this was actually filmed in Charlie's area, down in Florida.
@@SassaparillaI'm aware of his fear of flying, and that this was shot on his set, so I know collabing again will take some coordination. I just hope they're able to pull it off again, because he was a great guest.

No grand arbiter is hated waaaay more. Then it's rhystic, then Jin, then..idk. cyclonic rift? XD there's a lot of hated blue cards
@@mwbwyatt I'd argue people would be more likely to hate study more, because you're way more likely to see it being only blue, instead of having to be in Azorius.

If GAA4 was printed with only the cost reducing effect, as an efficient ramp source, no one would bat an eyelash. But nooooo, it has that +1 cost on it and everyone looses their minds- instant removal. But that viewpoint is my personal soapbox of which I will tout until my last breath.

I believe out of respect, "Scooping" is at sorcery speed.

I've built decks around Stasis. Augustine is chill.
Turn 1: Jeweled Lotus + Island/Plains to play GAA IV
Turn 2: land for turn + Sol Ring to play Trinisphere (opponents now have to pay 3 mana to cast a spell at minimum; foiling free-cast spells entirely)
Turn 3: Win because of the saltfest occuring
I bought a little proxy set of cards on wish. This card came in it. It was one of three cards i ripped in half so that at least when someone gets my collection in the future they wont be able to hurt anyone with it ever.

The last fun game I had against Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, he was played round one. Round two he was equipped with the Helm of the Host... Funny .... really funny but not for me.

Yep, he started playing in the view of the public almost a year ago (11 Months is the oldest I've seen) but has played magic for longer if a statement from the Professor himself is to be taken as truth (which stated Charlie has been playing in some capacity for years).

Prof choose the commanders and they build the decks. Crim deck was Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar just because prof wanted to troll his ex-student by making him read that name on camera
I keep a red elemental blast or a pyroblast in my jund deck specifically for this kind of behavior.

I have the Grand Arbiter in a deck of mine. I play the game to have fun, and sometimes the reactions from the table alone are worth it even if I just became public enemy #1 lol

When someone rolls up with G.A. Augustin Indigo Violet as their commander you just know exactly what their deck is going to do and what they are thinking. They are thinking "I don't want to play magic, and you wont get to either."

I made a Grand Arbiter commander deck nearly a decade ago, and have played it only once. My friends would probably be fine if I brought it out occasionally, but with him as commander and a bunch of RTR Azorius lock-down, I could just feel the mood of the table grind to a halt. I still like the deck though!
