I’m not even Catholic, but I still love these chants as a musician - these chants go back hundreds of years, and they’re still being sung. We’re literally listening to one link in an unbroken chain of chanters that goes back centuries - at least that’s how I look at it.
This is Gregorian Chant which was collected and codified by Pope St. Gregory the Great around 590AD. The said chants are all based on the chants by King David himself which was passed unto one generation from another. It is said that these chants sung and propagated by King David is how angels would sing to God in heaven, the closest man could get to it at least. 😊
