Green Street: Best of Charlie Hunnam's Cockney Accent
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 13 сен 2024
- Behold the attempted Cockney accent of Charlie Hunnam, covering all bases from Aussie, American and Kiwi to Manc and even Dublin.
For some reason Geordie Hunnam was cast in the lead role of 2005's London football firm flick Green Street (Hooligans in U.S) as Pete Dunham: a primary school teacher who's somehow also leader of West Ham's 'GSE' arranging weekly fights with other firms, incl Millwall's Bushwackers & Spurs' Yid Army. He takes yank relative Matt (Elijah Wood) under his wing & shows him the exciting world of hooliganism, leading to all kinds of drama & tragedy. Marc Warren also stars as the 'Major'. - Кино
What the hell is Frodo Baggins doing with Jax Teller?
Where was sting in wee frodos first fight eh?? Suprised he didn't call out for gandalf
love that! SAMCRO vs The Shire
+Adam Holland yes..yes! time to meet Mr. Mayhem Frodo.
no Gandalf to save you now Frodo - give him a Chelsea grin boys ! your bubbles just been popped muhahaha
therifle1 Took a left turn into Charming when he was suppose to take a right into Chalame.
honestly thought the guy was an aussie with that accent
CfCFan99 he lived in Australia for quite some time
Right. He couldn’t nail it
Yeah his cockney accent is awful 😂😂
Still thought this during 'The Gentlemen' Glad to know i was never alone to begin with 🙌🏼
He's from Newcastle
as confusing as his real accent
Hes from newcastle
He’s a Geordie but he doesn’t sound it
Born in Newcastle and moved to Cumbria in his teens, guess that explains the confusion
he goes from Australian to west country to cornwall with such fluidity.....
How did this guy pass the audition with that accent 😂. If I was one of the other actors in the cast I couldn’t have kept a straight face when he was talking. Sounds like a guy who grew up in America until he was 5, then moved to Australia for a few years, then spent his teenage years in London. Absolute mash up.
The funny thing is you basically just described Charlie hunam except not in the right order.
So is everyone
I don't think it helped that the director's German
His dialect coach should be sacked. He sounds terrible.
Harry Burrows stfu he was the perfect actor I would like to see you do one

That is a cracking line too, wise advice as well
This aged well...
This goes to show the insane diversity of accents in the British isles, a guy from Newcastle struggles just as much as an American would with a cockney accent.
There are more accents in America than there are in the UK. In MA the amount of different Boston accents is up into the dozens. And that's just one city in one state. And it was pretty embarrassing seeing Benedict Cumberpatch try to do one in Black Mass.
Hammond of course, america is 40 times bigger than the UK and has 5 times the population. but thats not whats important about the discussion. When adjusted, the UK has much more accents. If America had the same density of accents across the country that the UK has, America would have hundreds more accents that it does. Do you see? Its a cultural thing. To do with the age of a country and it’s culture.
@@GT-wo2oj Like I said, there's dozens and dozens of different Boston accents alone. And then there's accents for northern MA and central MA and north-western MA and south-central MA and south western MA...all those areas have dozens of variations. Then we can go to the south and all the different accents there.
And MA is a tiny, tiny state. London has a larger population than MA.
A lot of people from outside the US think there's a southern accent and a NY accent, and that's it. You can walk down a street in NY and hear 5 different accents from neighborhood to neighborhood.
Hammond yes but your missing my point. Im not one of those people that think America has two accents. I totally acknowledge the amount of accents yours saying. But its about how long britain has existed as a culture verses america. Its not a competition it’s just fact based on history and anthropology. Yes MA has a smaller pop than London and has many accents but London has many, many more accents than MA. London has existed for more than 2000 years. The cultural depth of accents is insane. Much more than most states in America purely because of age.
@@hammondOT there actually is far more accents in the UK due to the founders effect, the same reason there’s more genetic diversity in Africa than the rest of the world, the place where said thing started usually has more diversity in that said thing.
Bollocks accent but a top actor
Bollocks both you mean.
Paul Meyer virgin alert. you won't be giving nobody a beating you melt
He sounds like a right nob.
Paul Meyer had a public meltdown there. Hunnam is a big fairy, like all actors and he's a midget.
Paul 87 you never seen sons of anarchy? Guy can fuckin act trust me
He sounds South african
Haha yeh
I said that as well, bordering on Irish too.
South Africans are Cockney just like Australians and New Zealanders are

He does an american accent better than he does a british one
If you listen to him in recent interviews, he's got a 'uniquely' mixed accent that has elements of Geordie, Estuary English and American but doesn't actually sound like any of them. If you look at the T4 interview with him in 1999, you can see that he's got a 'normal' soft Geordie English accent - it's been mangled along the way somewhere. After hearing this, I'd definitely say his American accent's better than his Cockney one.
2:32
Elijah Wood must've been standing on a box or something lol
The power of the one ring.
He sounds Australian or something - my ears are confused!!
Aussie accent is actually quite similar to cockney accent

I watched Green street/Hooligans when I was a kid, with a few of my mates. I said all the way through it, this guy is an Aussie doing a terrible cockney accent and my mates all said I was daft. All these years later, finally finding out I wasn't alone has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders 🤣.
I love this movie from the first second to the last.
It just doesn't sound like any accent, it's in a world of its own this one.
When this was first released I was a teenager and I genuinely thought he was an Australian actor trying to play a cockney 😂
I watched all seven seasons of sons of anarchy (i had seen green street prior to ever watching it) and I only just realised this is jax haha -.-
Dharmaa RS me toooo!!

Same here. Only just found this out after seing an accent vid on here .

Pete's performace in this movie was amazing 👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥
spot on Ozzy accent there
Awesome movie with Charlie Hunnam in it.. Accent always cracks me up when I hear "Aww F**k Off, you're blowing a bubble"
You listen to that "accent" and you'll have a better appreciation for Dick Van Dyke's character in Mary Poppins.
I don't care how off his accent is, Pete's still one of my favorite film characters.
Goes to show that even us Brits can be awful at our own accents lol
He's spooking Kickney rooming sling
I don't care if accent is bad he is still beyond fine ugh

Shame he's gay then, eh!
This is so fucking unreal.

Been one of my favoritemovies for years, but first now I realised that he is Jax from SOA.
I started watching SOA half a year ago and I thought to myself: How haven't I seen Charlie Hunnam in any other movie?
Like,he is a great actor.
Im so shocked that he play's Pete!!
Same here, I can't believe I didn't realise.
He's also in the movie Deadfall which was great.
He is also in the comedy Frankie goes Boom which was funny and cute. Without a doubt, he's the best and sexiest in SOA.
Youre a fucking mong then arent you
Damn, Charlie's cockney is as bad as his "californian" in SOA

While his accent is really bad, that doesn't mean his peformance as pete was horible. At least in my opinion. There are a lot of great peformances from actors where they play another nationality, but their accent is bad. Like for the case of Charlie Hunnam as Pete. His accent is pretty shitty, but his peformance is really good.
For the record, I've never said his performance was bad, because clearly he is a talented actor in whatever role he plays, just like Don Cheadle, however neither can nail Cockney and no one it seems could do anything about it.
Kris Griffiths Oh I wasn't talking to you. I was just making a comment.:)
And I was just adding to the comment rather than directly responding to it, to set out my own stall on the subject just for the record.
Kris Griffiths Oh never mind then. Sorry about that. :D
He's not another nationality though he's a Geordie isn't he?
Blissfully unaware of this terrible accent when the movie came out when i was a kid. Watched it years later and thought something was wrong with the DVD audio.
He has no actual accent anymore from living in America so long he sounds like a family guy character. His cockney is shocking though.
Everyone has an accent
He's from Newcastle upon Tyne trying to do a London accent
Stoneman180190 he dnt even sound like a geordie either
Number1SoundSystem he's lived in many places that's why and picked up on loads of accents like Australia and American and now his accent it all over the shop
He shouldve done geordie, aye man?
@Jamie Rhodes he sounded Swedish or Russian or Finnish to me
Jamie Rhodes there’s a video of him when he’s about 20 and he sounds a bit Geordie
Holy shit i saw green street hooligans years ago. Fell in love with the film. Saw it just once but it stuck with me. Come to find out many years later after finally watching SoA this was Charlie in it, wtf.
currently in the middle of sons of anarchy and omg PROPER!!! cant get enough of it :) jax teller is a ledge!! love it all brilliant 11/10 all round :D
When I first saw the film I thought that he was Australian. His accent wasn't much better in "The Gentlemen".
I think he's a model that stumbled into acting
That accent is a knifeable offence
Compare it to football factory (proper London accents), this geezer is shocking with his take on Cockney 😂😂😂
I never knew this guy was English he sounds American.
In real life he doesn't sound American. He has this weird mix of English and American accents. In "Sons of Anarchy" he did sound American, though still did not pronounce everything clearly, the way Americans do, and did not sound like somebody from California.
He was born in Newcastle
I cannot beloved this is Charlie Hunnam you just wouldn't recognise him, despite his terrible accent. He never would've gotten his best role as Jax Teller in Sons Of Anarchy now that's what I call top acting. He absolutely nailed that role and they couldn't have picked a better guy for the part easily one of the best actors of all time.
And people say Don Cheadle/Basher Tarr did the worst cockney accent ever! Don's was at least semi convincing, this is just plain disgusting!
ThatOneDaxSter so unless we plan on doing this job in reno were in barney !!
His accent was so dire in this I actually thought Hunnam was American. I was stunned when I heard he’s English. Not London I know but still thought he could’ve produced better.
Charlie hunnams accent literally has no place
It's either when he's whispering or yelling that I can hear Jax
How does a native Brit end up sounding like Don Cheadle in Oceans 11? It's like someone from California trying to do a Texan accent and coming out sounding Dutch....
The accent does not matter when he's looking like that 😍🔥
Jesus he sounds like a bloody Australian lol
I always thought he was doing a softened cockney accent that American's would understand, makes sense to find out he's a Geordie, which is probably further removed from a Southern British accent than most American is.
Beware: comments filled with professional accent coaches. Who knew there were this many in the world.
You don't need to be an accent coach to know that this is a fucking atrocious attempt at a cockney accent, or at any accent that has ever been spoken by an actual human being
Tony Moran facts!
You must be a yank
It sound like a cross between an Australian and American doing a bad English accent and a Netflix kids show actor
I don't care about the accent!! just a awesome film!!
I'm an actress and have studied it for 4 years now. Being a Geordie and doing another accent can be really hard, not just that.. Let's also state that just because you're and actor doesn't mean your going to be good at all accents or any of them. It also doesn't make you a shit actor! I honestly don't think the casting director and writers etc thought really hard about this when casting him
And getting him to do the accent! Geordie is a very strong accent and you can hear it slip through!
He doesn’t even sound the slightest bit Geordie when I see him on talk shows. His accent baffles me. He kinda sounds more Welsh than anything
I'm from London but I genuinely reckon cockney is one of the toughest accents to pull off. I don't even have the accent he's aiming for as mine is probably more modern, but I reckon I'd struggle to do a good job even though I'm from south London. It's a hard one.
I'm from the Czech Republic. I saw the movie when I was about 14 and I remember being blown away by Hunham's performance. I didn't know what kind of accent he was supposed to have so that was not an issue to me but his performance was, to me, off the charts.
He's a very good actor. As someone from London I admit when I first watched it I found his accent laughably bad, but he's a good enough actor that I got over it. By the way your English is amazing.
@@sacred1827 Thank you! ❤
i dnt know shit about the accent but he was damn good in the movie.loved it
he looks very similar to Brad Pitt at the end of fight club in this movie
Seriously did nobody pick this up during filming? Frodo sounds more cockney with his American accent 😂
If I closed my eyes and didn't know who it was I would've thought it was an American doing a really bad English accent
S'funny, coz in Sons of Anarchy it's the opposite.
I’ve lived in east London my whole life

He sounds better as Jax. xD
Anyone with taste know he doesn't like like he's from Cockney. I love how the OP recognizes this lmao.
His American accent is better than this and he's from fuckin' Newcastle.

For a right-old Geordie, I think he does the accent well. Must be hard, because Geordie is such a distinctive accent, and so is Cockney.
It's objectively awful.

When I first watched this movie a while back I had no idea who Charlie Hunnam really was. Now that I've seen Sons of Anarchy and Pacific Rim and then watch this movie again it really makes me appreciate him as an actor more and more.

Even Charlie’s real voice sounds like someone putting on a Geordie accent.
Okay, so he is not good with accents. For god's sake, he forgot his original accent trying to play all these characters.
