Killing Radovid and letting Dijkstra win is the 200 IQ option. This way Geralt plays both sides. He and Yen do everything Emhyr asks of them and still Geralt denies Emhyr forcing Ciri into a life she does not want and taking her away from Geralt and Yen. While also denying a lunatic like Radovid to win the war und massacre people. Geralt can even claim to have been neutral, because he helped both sides, Redania and Nilfgaard. He just killed a monster, so that it does not commit genocide. And in the end the North wins the war, just like Vesemir wanted. So, he didn't do it for politics. He did it for his loved ones, Ciri and Vesemir. And all he really did was Witchers work: Killing monsters.

Of course it's the best option to let Dijkstra kill Thaler and Roche and reunite the north if you think about the fate of the world but book Geralt would never have watched the people who helped him be killed for political reasons. The only time he gets involved is when his conscience comes into play, be it good or bad for a kingdom, only the people close to him matter so if you're playing a lore friendly Geralt, no way in hell you're gonna choose Dijkstra instead of Roche. The other things you mentioned only sound like making up excuses why siding with Dijksta would be neutral after letting his friends die. I think you're dead wrong.

He's not as close to him as he is with dandelion or zoltan but by the time of the third game he can be considered a friend, especially if he helps the witchers in kaer morhen, geralt wouldn't just stand there when their life is in danger out of a political scheme, he would defend roche and ves

@@House-of-Hades That's on iorveth's path, not the "right way" to play the game, it's just one of the choices you can make that sets your path apart from roche and he's a soldier doing his job, someone who has no love for geralt who didn't listen to him and broke his promise if you side with iorveth. Considering roche is amicable to geralt and along with other references to roche's path in w3, it's also much more reasonable that geralt canonicaly went with roche's path in which he makes no offer to kill him

I am playing this quest for the first time right now and am cripplingly conflicted, putting all of the information out like this really does help show the overall outcome of both sides which i definitely appreciate, but i cant help but feel that loyalty with Roche which is whats making the decision to side with Dijkstra so painful! :(

      I personally really despise Emyhr.
Dijkstra is a lesser human being than Roche, who truly is a friend, and more often morally right than wrong.
That said....I think deep down Gerald would have upheld and honored his lifelong mentor wishes...?

Is it just me and the fact I like the Iorveth path much better in Witcher 2? Because I don't really see the whole "Roach is Geralt's BFF best buddy" side of the deal. The way I see it, Roach is a good ally, and a more ameanable than Dijkstra at that, but he's not a friend whose bad ideas are worth dooming a continent. He's not Zoltan or Jaskier. Besides, it's not just cold politics - Geralt is trying to protect Ciri from Nilfgaard, so a stronger opposition to Nilfgaard is *also* a personal choice.

  • @bammac69

    A) Roche put his life on the line for you.
    B) Ves did the same, with sex tossed in.
    C) Geralt can’t see into the future.
    D) What he DOES know about Dijkstra is that in a time of war and famine, he, as a state functionary managed somehow to accumulate 20 TONS of gold.
I actually LIKED Dijkstra, but that choice was easy. Ves - Sex. Dijkstra - Not even a peck on the cheek.

Before the battle of Kaer Morhen, Geralt asks both Dijkstra and Roche to send help in his fight against the Wild Hunt. Dijkstra says that he doesn't owe anything to Geralt and refuses to help, while Roche arrives to the battleground himself and puts his life on the line. After that event, it's hard to let Dijkstra kill Roche for his own personal gain. I think making Dijkstra the ruler of the North would be easier if there was an option to make Roche survive.
