your reviews are the only ones that help me choose a vehicle when im in the market and want to know everything about a car. You even helped me pick my first car I'm glad you're still on youtube and your video quality has only gotten better and better really one of the OG's now
I've been waiting for a Saabkyle04 review of the new WRX for some time and it's well worth the wait!^^ As always, I really enjoyed watching it so much.^^
The OG, the King of car reviews on RUclips. Came here after re watching the 2015 S65 AMG review. This WRX really looks good for me, but I wish they make it more affordable.
I really like the TR upgrades, but for me the sweet spot is the Premium trim, which can be had for below MSRP, no easy feat in today's utterly insane new car market.
I'm right there with you. I bought a '24 Premium with the upgraded sound system and moonroof. All discounted to just above base price MSRP. Perrin intake, Noble Titanium singe exit catback and a Dmann OTS tune makes an already fun car pretty damn quick and amazing
Couple questions. I heard that premium fuel isn't required on the 2024 like it was previously. What kind of effect did that have on the engine? With the eyesight system, how does it account for it being a manual? If the system decides it needs to slam on the brakes for you, does it automatically push the clutch in? How about when adaptive cruise control slows you down below what is appropriate for the gear you're in?
Been looking at these alot lately and thinking about pulling the plug on one. Never owned a Subaru so this will be new to me and never owned a newer car
@@nateallen2714 Yes. It's probably still there, but the debris grill is very wide, so it's highly unlikely that any flow is impeded. And if it was, Subaru would warrant it.
@@Link_1129 Indeed. The head gasket issues were on things like the outbacks... these issues haven't been seen for many many years. The ringland failure in the STI EJ was the biggest issue, so jokes about head gasket's really show how little people know tbh. I assume you know, so just putting it out for others, that the FA24 is a heavily beefed up FA20, with almost none of the shortcomings. Without any engine work, it can take about 450whp until it starts lifting the head (so need stronger studs), and by that point you would have already ruined the trans anyway lol. Crazy how low tuned these are from factory, so much potential for cheap to get 'medium' levels of sports car perf.
Anyone considering getting a TR, save up an extra 5k and get yourself a used RS3... trust me. I just went from a 2020 STI to a RS3, you won't regret it.
Oh but you will when things start to break. Oh and there are other things involved in peoples decisions too. Like insurance. Where I live going from one of these to even just a Golf R; i'm looking at 800 a year more. Not for me buddy. But enjoy your new ride!
@Vecc-tq3fb Agreed. However, when i did the trade-in, i didn't want to be spending more than what i was with my STI. Overall, the cost of ownership, insurance, etc, so far wasn't that much of a difference. Yes, $800/year is a bit much, 66/month. My insurance only went up $15/month with the RS3. I got it CPO from Audi with a 4-year extended full coverage warranty. Only had 8k miles on it when I got it. That was one of my top priorities when trading in my STI. CPO, 1 owner, extended warranty, etc. But again, I'm roughly paying about the same I was with the STI.
I miss my 2016 WRX in more ways than I can name. The TR model is the one I am focused on as it is way more attractive in features than the next one up. To each their own and I prefer the manual. No spare tire is a problem as I see it. Not a good idea. This can be fixed.
I have a 2020 with what would now be considered the TR package. Brembo and Recaro from factory. Cost 10k less. I've put 10k into it and it would make little work vs this. Way overpriced
It's ridiculous that it's sold in North America where most people even can't drive manuals but not sold in Europe where we love manuals. But they slowly also cancel the manuals here, starting with the premium brands.
It is the same speed as the last Gen STi so who cares what they changed. Now with improved braking, suspension and tires, it’s likely faster around a track.
@TheRealCatof but it's not very fast for what your paying. There is not $10k more in performance from any aspect in this, from a 2020 with the equivalent package, and it was $10k less. After that much in aftermarket thus thing isn't even close
Couldn't agree more with you, not only that, but those boxer engines are notorious for blowing head gaskets and transmissions are not the best either. So all in all not a good buy at all.
The interior is fantastic compared to the last gen. If you want to see a horrendous interior, look at the new Corolla GR. That think is like a jail cell.
@@technogeek1219 Please do some reading, and then come back and let me know which WRX or STI engine in the past 15 years of boxers have had head gasket issues, because guess what.. they didn't. Transmissions yes.... WHEN TUNED, and that's the WRX split case, not the STI trans. Trolls gonna troll though /rolleyes. The FA24 is an EXCELLENT engine with some minor issues that aren't really issues, but like to be talked to death about. The VB WRX is also a very good car. This compared to the VA WRX it is wayyy above it.

You would think they would include the short shifter with this model.
I agree. But for $600 you can buy it from the Subie parts counter
At least this video showed up on my feed, that's some progress.

Wxr is also offer a automatic too, which is faster than the manual.
Great review
Cool! And first
Hi, I got my name down for one! thanks for the review. Would you know if 18's fit properly on the TR for a winter set up?
No
It won’t clear the 6 piston front Brembos
I heard they redid a lot with the engine so it doesn’t blow up….till 80k miles
You joke, but the new Boxer engines don't typically have near as many head gasket issues that the old ones were notorious for.
@@Link_1129 didn’t they have a quality control issue with RTV getting sucked into the oil pick up?
