At the end of the day, I made this video for fun, and you don’t have to listen to anything I said! It’s totally fine to buy the things I mentioned in the video-for me, it just becomes a financial problem when you buy too many. As long as there’s moderation and you’re being realistic with yourself, all is good, y’all! 😅😅
I have walked away from stuff and my brain will constantly remind me about it until I buy it. I mean a constant nagging in my head that drives me nuts!!
walking away from something u want is soo hard but it rlly works and often times im grateful that i waited a while to see if i still want it

one thing my parents taught me is DELAYED GRATIFICATION. if you want something expensive or something you don’t need, wait it out, and if you still want it, treat yourself

my rule on blind boxes: if there’s even ONE that i wouldn’t like, i don’t buy it. cuz knowing my luck i always get the one i don’t want. it’s saved me so much money

This works for online shopping as well! What i do is that i add them all to my cart then just look at it and remove them again. Instant gratification activated when I just look at them and not buying them 😎

@memonos exactly! Thats why some also argue that having a large space just makes you want to spend a lot more so you can fill it up vs a small space that has all the things you need
2:31 i think buying *one* water bottle can be good. i bought a stainless steel one 8 years ago for around €20, it's still in great condition and i don't have to buy plastic water bottles anymore. so it kind of pays itself after a while. plus i can use it for different beverages, it keeps temperatures for longer (especially cold water) and i'm not drinking microplastics lol
But still, you don't need buy more than one 🤷♀️

@strawberrysundae_megan i actually rewatched before commenting to be sure, and she said "one thing you'd never catch me buying is a water bottle" so i believe she was talking about water bottles in general and not just multiples. but english isn't my native language so maybe i misunderstood.

I have a retail therapy problem as well, what I found works for me is by adding things to my cart online, and just never look in my cart, then after a while, the shopping high runs out and I just don’t want to buy it anymore

Oh the body mists I KNOW. There was a period when I liked really sweet cute smells, then clean girl fresh, then more mature and serious musk or wood, then floral..I am sick of all of them now, seriously. More so when I remember how much I spent on them👍 now I don't use any perfume or try to finish up all those bottles that I don't even enjoy anymore😭 and my friends and family aren't near so I can't even gift them. No more mists or perfumes until all this is gone 💪💪💪 same goes to way too many things, really, it's depressing

I absolutely love these videos! Something that’s helped me is if I think I want something, I make myself wait *at least* 24 hours before I buy it, usually several days. If I forget about it in that time, then it wasn’t that deep. Only exception for this is if I’m traveling or thrifting. Finding hobbies help too, a lot of people shop just to fill the time.
What I like to do is invest in something that a) is worth it and b) is something i’ve wanted for a while. some great examples of this are glossier products and an owala. but when it comes to little things that i’ve probably gotten as gifts 5+ years ago? still using them

2:43 tbh, I have spent R$429 (73,85USD) on a 40oz Barbie Peaches ‘N Cream Stanley cup bc I’m a Barbie fan and I was in need of something to give me motivation to drink water at home (for some reason, I have no problem to remind it outside, so a simple sleek bottle works for that). The fact that I drink from the straw helps me to drink more water than I could if I was tilting the cup and having bigger amounts at once. I’d only swap the plastic straw to a glass one (bc it accumulates less “taste” and I prefer glass over steel bc you can see the inside when cleaning it). The fact that it is Barbie themed also made me happy to get it (as I grew up a Barbie doll/ related items collector and had a bad person to ruin my collection of years). I just have a consideration: on the bottom of my cup it says “(ethically) manufactured in China”… I didn’t see it being clearly mentioned on their website and, honestly, I think it would impact my buying decision! They do claim it is “ethically”, but so do other companies like, for example, Shein. I don’t agree when some ppl say you need one of each thing bc I think it depends on the type of use for the buyer… The cup was a great purchase to help me go though the average 2L intake (and I also use it as a measure reference for water intake), but now I’m planning to buy a “thin” sleek bottle that I can take in my backpack when using public transportation/ walking (if I had it first, I’d steel buy a tumbler cup, regardless of brand, bc it serves me a “different” purpose)!!
But I don’t like to see people hoarding and promoting it as something ok and not harmful!

I wanted it, my friend knew I wanted it, but going back to what we were talking about earlier, he pulled me out of the store. We thought "whoa, that was close" and said our goodbyes. Tbh water bottles are good as you can just fill them and it costs less in the long run than buying plastic bottles over and over again, plus it’s better for the planet.
