Was it underneath to push it up? Or does it need to be pushed down on an Acer Aspire?

@@meselthan I don't know specific laptop variations, but this video is aimed at this specific connector.
You have to push the ribbon cable in as far as it goes (don't force it, just until it hits the back)...
...then the plastic strip pushes into the same gap and wedges the ribbon cable down onto the contacts.

This worked exactly has he showed. Just replaced a keyboard for a ROG GL703GE Laptop and the ribbon connect to the board broke when I was removing it. Thought I was going to have to buy a new motherboard. Did exactly what he did and it worked perfectly. Thank you!

You are a genius, I was trying with tape with toothpick until I saw your video and understood the main purpose of the little black part then I folded the same blue plastic attached to the keyboard flex cable to make it thicker and used a piece of plastic from my deli container and then a little piece of tape on top. And saved a lot of money bc the hard drive was also disconnected. Thanks a million!!!

Thanks to your observations, I just repaired the keyboard connector on the motherboard of my Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5535, which needed an effective solution.
It worked exactly as you indicated, it was okay at the first attempt and it was not the linguistic barrier that prevented the realization of this (I am Portuguese and I do not speak your language). So, congratulations on your way of explaining how these problems are resolved and I wish you to keep up your good work.

Very good video, a life saver. I had an HP mini Compaq Q 110 computer which I had taken apart last year to replace the CMOS battery and also fix the power connector which was intermittent contact and since my laptop big battery was also dead every time the computer lost power by accidentally yanking a bit on the power court I would have to reset the date which was very annoying. Well after a whole bunch of time has passed since then I decided to put it back together. I did not want to buy a replacement battery for the CMOS which is very small. Instead, I used the big ones the ones you put on the desktop PC motherboards. The problem with those is that they barely fit underneath the keyboard so I had to make a makeshift battery holder for it, so I looked in the recycling bin across the street for some tin cans and I cut two round terminals from the flat tin bottom of the Cadbury COCOA cylindrical can which is mostly made out of paper except the bottom. I left two small ears to solder the wires onto them and used sellotape to keep them tight to the battery. So when It was time to test it, I tried to put only the keyboard ribbon on the connector, and to my horror, I realized that the retaining clip was missing or I misplaced it since for every project like this I have a screw lid container where I put all the screws and other parts that could be lost easily if they are just thrown in a box. So search around how to locate to buy on eBay but no luck. Then I stumbled on this video which exactly solves my problem because I just used a clear and thin piece of plastic to secure the ribbon onto the socket and when I turned on the computer the keyboard worked perfectly.
