Bionicle was really the best thing I ever looked at one of my most favorite Lego characters of all I really wish I can watch it over again and over again 😉👍
Watching all these together makes me realize Bionicle has never been the same since its introduction. They went so hard and put all the work in at the start to the point where each year moving forward we had incredible expectations!
One of the reasons Bionicle G2 flopped imo. You compare the insane amount of effort they were throwing into advertising, worldbuilding, and just the brand in general in 2001, then you look at how Bionicle G2 launched in 2015, and it's a huge disappointment.
@@sanctumscream372yup, g1 was aimed at kids, but in a "we respect their intellect" way. Give us cool designs, mystery and flash game with plot and characters and we're set. G2 was aimed at kids in a "we are making teletubbies, but they're robots". It had zero depth and had no reason or passion behind it.
@@MrFiremagnet You're 100% right. The reason Bionicle even still has a dedicated fanbase today is because it had a crazy amount of depth and substance for a toyline aimed at kids. I really do admire the work Lego put into the line over its run, and I'm always grateful for Bionicle igniting my passion for writing, worldbuilding, etc. We were truly the lucky ones. I don't think anything like it is ever going to come around again.
@@MrFiremagnetYou’re 100% right. I think they realised g1 stopped selling because the story became too complicated and convoluted, so with g2 they thought it would be a good idea to make it as simple as possible, but they just made it way too simple and silly
This was the first time the concept of "World Building" and "Universe" was introduced to me. I got into the Bionicle lore so much, thanks to this game and others that came out around the same time. #Nostalgia
If Bohrok were scary back then, wait to see their true origins... where did they really come from. That's stuff of nightmares, one that even Toa were terrified of and made them even question the Great Spirit's motives.
there used to be so many videos and images of characters either getting their masks knocked off or casually putting them on after not wearing them, but by the time of MOL it was like there was a rule against seeing maskless characters.
fascinating! I've seen some of these clips before but never this arrangement on the CD! or the menus full of information, where did the CD come from? what's the design on top of it?
9:59Isn't this villager form Tohunga form? I thought Matoran refers to bulkier villagers after Bohrok Kal's demise. While Tohungas are villagers after being Devolved by Dume's capsule.
Not quite. "Tohunga' is a word that holds a lot of importance to the Maori people and Lego basically had to swap it for "Matoran" in order to avoid a lawsuit. That word basically no longer exists in the Bionicle Universe.
The BIIIG mistake Lego made in rebooting Bionicle is making "kid-frendly" AF. That resulted in some of the most tame and pretty of boring themes and designs of the sets. The reason old bionicle was awesome was becuase it had a dark story in a dark sci-fi fantasy setting, and the sets and characters were built around that. Why do you think Brutaka, Axonn, and factions like the Vahki, Barraki, Piraka, or the Toa Inika were awesome?
rofl that has to be the lamest Toa ever, Whats your power brown robot? Your brothers and sisters control elemental powers and might that make them demi gods in their own right Pohatu:.....I can kick rocks.......like....really good, like you got no idea, you see that can over there on that fence.....can kick it off with a rock!!
The world of Bionicle where everything evolved to knock a mask off your face
Untill late 2023

2:27 "But the Toa were victorious" Then a Rahi snatches Tahu's mask 😂

@@MrFiremagnetevery armor part was just so noisy or generic, all the armor plates being basically ovals.

That is the most Y2K Techno sounding music I've heard
@user-mr3lv2tz9m indeed it is...

They were actually Av-matoran. They either stay matoran or evolve to Bohrok
I really love that bouncy presentation of the pointer cursor in the menu. Have a lot of love for such features of 2000s design
Thank you for uploading this video about Bionicle 2002 CD.
Really enjoy watching it. It should had more views. Great video!!!
Thank you :)

Those good old OST, sound effects and narration still rocks in 2023.
Good memories never forgotten!
The song that plays during the intro gave me goosebumps as a kid, I was obsessed with it. I'm obsessed with this theme again now.
The legend of the bionicle :3

I bought such CD sold separately as a videogame in Ukraine back in 2002.
Awesome upload. So many memories.
Was this the one that was a tiny gamecube sized disk? I remember having one
Odd how Toa and Bohrok videos weren't in a higher framerate like the rest of the videos. This promo CD-must've been rushed.
I spent HOURS on this thing as a kid.

@@erixon8382Is this smol form called as "Matoran" too?
@@tomvhresvelg9286As far as official lego stuff is concerned. Fans still use "Tohunga" to refer to their diminished forms though.
Tahnok was the first Bohrok I had.

I don't think I'd consider literal undead minions as kid friendly
Still love the creepy soundtrack.
