Good to see a long term review on one of these products, instead of the manufacturer's hype. I've got through TWO Remington RX-5's in a year, both started stuttering with minimal skin contact, despite cleaning and lubricating. So I decided to go for one with a long term review instead this time. Thanks Dave, really appreciate your experience and insights, and your time for putting this together, nice one.
I've hardly used my RX-5 and it's already starting to act like it's tired even though I look after it. Thanks to this review and some research I did online I'm going to upgrade to this shaver and just keep the RX-5 as a back up.
I was thinking about getting this as a Christmas gift for my man and this video is what made me decide to order it. Thanks so much for the honest review! Also really rad tats!
I've been using pretty much all my life a trimmer to shave my head, today I've tried for the first time my new Pitbull Platinum Pro shaver and even if I was a bit skeptical I must say that I'm very happy with the purchase. It cuts shorter than a trimmer and I can use it walking around or under the shower.. with some warm water and a shaving gel works even better and for me it's perfect because I don't want to see my grey's but also I don't like the razor blade kind o smoothness ( like a Dolphin ) . The only thing I noticed it's that it used bit more battery than expected .I. The other hand its easy to clean.
I really don't shave my head, but I do administer my own "buzz cuts." The Problem is that, due to a pprogressive movement disorder, I'm finding It more and more difficult to manipulate standard clippers. I'm intrigued by clippers like the Pitbull, which allow the user to "palm" the device. I'm looking for clippers that I can palm, but allow me to obtain a buzz cut rather than a shave.
@@Alex-oy6wb Not so far. I did order a MANGROOMER Ultimate PRO Self-Haircut Kit, but it didn't really work for me. A trimmer that I could actually hold onto would have to be designed more like the Pitbull.
Love how quick to the point this video is. I use the Omnishaver and I love it but sometimes I feel too lazy to do the blade and been looking in to getting this for those particular days. I think I'll give it a try
Recently shaved my head… I’ve been growing my hair for over 2 hairs & I decided to donate it… literally just bought the platinum today. I’m excited!! There was a special offer, so with tax, total was $170+. And, also included a trimmer & a shave brush free gift 👍🏽
I have a full head of hair and like the shaved look so I shave it with my beard trimmer and it is miserable. Takes like 40 minutes and I dread it every time. This looks like the perfect solution
This could be a perfect solution but you would need to be consistent with using the shaver on your head. If you go to long between shaves it may not work as well. I normally shave my head every 4 days. Sometimes 5 at the most.
Some questions. -Where do I get the blades to change? Can I use the original ones only? Are they available outside of the US? -How does it work with "wet" hair (or skalp in our case😂) -Is the cleaning process with that bottle all it takes? What would the brush be for then? -Is the cleaning bottle included in every shaver or is it platinum exclusive? -What about if the hair is a bit longer? Like 2-3 months in if you got some lazy months behind you? Do I need to go at it with a regular shaver first or does the pitbull go through longer hair? I am really bothered by my current shaver, since it sucks and I don't want to use a razer, since I don't want it to be completely gone. Hope I can get some answers 😁
Nice video thank you for the tips I'm new to the electronic shaver after years of shaving my head with a razor. So I decided to buy the pitbull Platinum 3 Months ago it took me awhile to get used to it and how I love it. I'm using it about every other day now and it keeps my head clean and with a Close shave.
just a tip theres actual grooves for your fingers inbetween the shaving heads and the square top that youre holding on to. I find it makes it a bit easier and gives better control. Just upgraded from the silver to the platinum and has been really great. zero mess and zero shaving cream needed so happy days 👍
I was just given the silver model. Had been using clippers with no guard or a blade occasionally. First use of the pit Bull was disappointing. I’ll stick with it. Thanks for showing how to clean it using the stand.
My only experience with the Pit Bull brand has been with the platinum model. May be a few more uses will give you a good gauge if it is something that will work for you or not. Thanks for watching.
I will acknowledge it is a bit on the pricey side but for the convenience it provides it was worth it to me. I cant speak on any other shavers out there and how they work because I have only used this one. There my be a less expensive alternative but I just cant speak to how it will perform
You put the shaver between index and middle finger, to have enough pressure, if you shave like you you could brake the shaver when putting more pressure.
Thanks for the review. I think I will just go with the shaver you use to finish the job at 4:07. Really, 6 minutes + however long it takes with your finishing razor isn't that quick and I would have expected much faster and better for the price. Much appreciated!
Yea that's what I got outta the video too. The barbers all rock with either the Andis or Whal foil shavers. I'm guessing they know something about cutting hair.
Been researching these for a while. I'm normally a razor guy, but to avoid irritation, I don't want to use that everyday and I'm hoping this will be a suitable substitution for those in-between days and I'll save the razor for date nights and such. Great video, I think I've got all the information I need to make an informed purchase! 👍🏽
Thank you for watching. I personally have never used a razor but I do use the skull shaver every 3-4 days. That seems to be a good gap between uses for me. Also consider the Andis foil shaver as well which is a great tool.
I am glad I found your review my husband has always used clippers but the one I got him does not come as close as this one you have. I also saw this on Facebook and thought it would be a great Christmas gift for him. But I wanted to make sure it was worth it.
I shave my head with a Razor. The Schick 3 blade xtreme. I have found the three blades are better than 4 or 5 blade. I use to shave with putting my hairs in a bucket than throwing that in the toilet. Then 10 years ago I learned if you shave in the shower in hot water, that works fine. Which it does. I also throw my blades in a cup of mouth wash or you can use alcohol. To keep the blades clean. I shave every two days. But somethings I go three without a shave. I can shave my head in less than 2 mins with out a mirror since I shave in the shower. I have been saving my head since I turned 18. I am now 44 years old. Also a barber cannot get closer with a blade. I had one try my Razor blade was better. I was looking into this pitbull. Looks so interesting. Your review was great on it.
Thanks for the feedback! I have never used a razor to shave my head. I have been tempted but never done so. I will say since you are use to shaving with a bald and that level of closeness, you would be disappointed with the Skull Shaver. It will not be as close but it is a cool product and easy to use and gets the job done.
Skull platinum shaver, very impressed so far with it ,the only down fall is the cup that cleans your shaver, it very good to drain your skull shaver on the shaver holder after its been washed, its best to detatch from the body of the shaver cleans much better under running water 💧 then place it in the holder to drain
Thanks for that information. I usually rinse it in the cup but then also hold the shaver under running water and rinse even more. I do not detach the shaver head but may try that next time.
Awesome video, thanks so much for the information. Now it's time for me to place my order for the $40 US Dollar palm shaver. For at least 8 years now, I've been going to my local barbershop and getting my head shaved in one form or another. I started off with an all over buzzcut with #3 guard then I dropped to no guard as I got older. 3 years ago, I started getting my head shave with balding clippers. I enjoy the look and feel after but it's getting expensive now. At 46 years of age with almost no hair on top and really bushy sides, it's time for me to invest into something like this.
Very helpful video! You are very thorough. I really appreciated the thought between people who are used to razors and those were used to trimmers. Good luck in your endeavors.
The cut will be very close but if you are currently using a razor to shave your head I think you will find a razor gives a closer shave/cut. Also, it depends on if you have coarse hair or not.
Hey man, great video! - also had a side question, where did you get your red bracelet? I like it a lot. Been looking for a good one to wear since I wear an Apple Watch daily similar to yours and wanted something for my right wrist too
I use the Skull Shaver with shaving gel. Trust me, then you have the feeling of a fresh wet shave. I shave my head everyday like this and I absolutely love it and recommend it to everyone. The Skull Shaver is the best thing that happened to my head. 😄
I always use andis clippers I had the same paid for 22 years( well maintained) and ny children andis clippers I had those for 10 years…. I wouldn’t recommend using tap water ( all the harsh minerals) for cleaning and also I would use antibacterial clipper clean spray to keep the blades clean and to prevent rusting…. Thanks for your review; I haven’t heard of this product til 12/7/22
once you rinse the blade, the hair comes out in the water which is in the holder. I then dump the water out and do a final rinse off of the machine under the tap
They seem very comparable and I chose to go with the Platinum when I made my purchase because it was on sale and close to the price of the Gold. Also, the platinum came with the bag and travel stand.
@UCgDHt3cqZ6NBAhBRPmrpG3A they told me the blades aren't covered by warranty, but offered me 50% off the purchase of one new blade... plus shipping lol
Does this work well with daily use? I'm assuming you just let your hair grow out fir the video. Thinking of this for my bf bday, he shaves his head daily
Fantastic video I've been looking into getting one of these myself. Other than the Platinum coming with the additional accessories, how is it different from the silver and the gold version? According to their website you can purchase the accessory separately for any of the models
The Skull Shave I have came with a cleaner container that you fill with water and then then place the Shaver in it and run it for 15-30 seconds. Then you can rinse it out. Or, you can rinse it under water if you do not have the cleaner container.
Do you use the shaver dry? Do you use anything after shaving? Never shaved my head before, and bald on top, thinning on the back. Currently I get a #2 hair cut. Will the pitbull shave my head or do I need to take it down more before using the shaver first time?
I do use the Pitbull dry. I just use a aftershave balm/ SPF lotion post using it on some days but other days I do not. Just depends if I am going out into the sun post shave or not. My stubble has never been longer than say a 1 shave so I do not know how well it would work with a #2 stubble. I would probably lean towards cutting it down lower before using it. I have not shave my head with a razor but I do use the pitbull and Andis foil shaver and like the results.
Hi Janet - I just used my new Platinum for the first time, and the main reason I bought it is I can't seem to shave my head without cutting myself at least 2 or 3 times, no matter how careful I am. I was very impressed with it, and no, it didn't bother any of the numerous small cuts/scabs in the slightest. I'm very much looking forward to those fully healing up and not having any more issues with cuts and scabs in the future.
@Vishant The Andis takes me about 15 minutes to completely shave my head from a 3-day stubble; if the Skull Shaver takes you 6 minutes + a pass with the Andis, is your process quicker than 15 minutes? Also, why not solely use the Andis if the times are similar?
My process is about 15-20 mins if I go over with the Andis. Sometimes I don't use the Andis. I don't only use the Andis because for me after a 3 day stable the Andis takes a while to cut my hair and I have to go over the same area several times.
Thought about getting this but tbh I was use my clippers then shave it with a decent disposable razor as fast if not faster than u did with this. I can "Bic it down" with a decent disposable razor really quick within seconds but im lazy and wait too long before I have to use my clippers then use a razor (which I really don't have to do). But seems like I can do both quicker than that time
If that is working for you, stay with it. I have never used a razor so I am not sure how long that takes. People who do use a razor however say that is very fast.
@@vishantdave7924 thanks man. I actually bought the bald buddy from Walmart. I guess it's from shark tank. It works great. Only reason y I got it is cause I could buy it right then
Is this skull shaver better than going to a barber shop. Also does it get every here completely off that's on your head. I always go to barber shop and get my head shaved but it's costing too much money more and more every time I go.
The thing is you don't have to use the Andis after. Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not. The Andis will just give it an even closer shave. The Andis in my experience can't cut the hair which is several days grown very well but the Skull Shaver can.
It seems pretty cool. But here's the problem. I wish u guys wud say if u r being paid or not to promote what ever it is ur reviewing. It wud make a LOT easier to come to a conclusion
No problem at all. I was not compensated at all to do this review. All the reviews on my channel the company's have not compensated me. Oura, Xero, Vivibarefoot, Skull Shave.
Well, looks like every other decent shaver I've tried. You have to scrub and scrub to get the best results and it's still not as good as a blade. As for anywhere, in a pinch, I can dry shave with a blade once in a while without much compromise. Of course, wet with good shaving cream is the best way.
In retrospect I use to go through 2 - 3 shampoo bottles in 6 months and now 1 shampoo bottles will last more than a year. It is what it is life goes on. - Cool video mate! Cheers
I was about to purchase but decided to watch some reviews. Now after watching your review, I am not sure if I will buy this because, I shave with a razor and you said, it may not work for those who shave with a razor. May I ask why?
Not that it won't work but if a person shaves with a razor already, the feel will be different with this product. It does not cut as close as a razor in my experience. May be if a person has more fine hair instead of coarse but my hair is coarse.
I currently shave with regular disposable razors but I don’t like the fresh shaved look too much. I find my best look is about a day or 2 after a shave. Would this help me keep a stubble look? Thanks!
It may look freshly shaved with this product but I dont think it will feel the same as a freshly shaved head with a razor. Look wise I could not tell you 100% the look. My hair definitely grows back and is visible grown back within 2 days using this.
There is no blade involved with the skull shaver. Therefore, it does not cut as close. It may look similar aesthetically but a razor will cut closer. So that is why if a person is use to shaving with a razor and that close of a shave, this will not be the same.
Thanks for the video. It was difficult to tell how much time you actually spent with the skull shaved because the video was fast forwarded. I was about to make out that multiple passes see needed for a specific area, similar to a face shaver.
you go in a cirrcular pattern but depending on how long your hair is will determine that. When my hair is not to grown out its quicker then when it is a few days (4-5 days) of growth.
Thank you for watching! I do believe it can be used in the shower but I personally have not done so. I use it without any shaving gel as well and it works well.
Glad you found the video helpful. No, I have not tried any of those other two products. I have only used in addition the Andis shaver which I referred to in my video.
I was looking at norelco one blade as well. I currently use a pair of clippers and a safety razor. I’m looking for something else, considered one blade but I’ve seen mixed reviews. And the bad ones were pretty bad
@@grizzleg8729 I think the skull shaver is a good buy. For me to have it for 1 year and the amount of time it saves me is just great. I think if you get one you will feel the same way. I have not used any other head shavers on the market.
I currently use a Wahl head buzzer with no guard to get that close to clean shaven feel. Is the Pitbull shaver worth the price? Can you trim your beard with it, or does it just have that one setting of a near clean shaven look?

They seem very comparable and I chose to go with the Platinum when I made my purchase because it was on sale and close to the price of the Gold. Also, the platinum came with the bag and travel stand.
My shaver broke after 1 or 2 months, only 1 of the 4 blades is actually working. When I open it up to clean, there's only hair in one of the blades.
@UCgDHt3cqZ6NBAhBRPmrpG3A they told me the blades aren't covered by warranty, but offered me 50% off the purchase of one new blade... plus shipping lol
Is that product okay to use if you’ll shave you head with a shaving cream? Like Cremo o Gillette foamy for example. Thank you for the good review.
yes, you can use shaving cream or use it without it
Does this work well with daily use? I'm assuming you just let your hair grow out fir the video. Thinking of this for my bf bday, he shaves his head daily
It says you can use it daily but I use mine every 3-4 days.
mine keeps shutting off on me while im shaving my head. annoying
If you are within a warranty period you may want to reach out to them about that. I have not had that happen with mine.
Fantastic video I've been looking into getting one of these myself. Other than the Platinum coming with the additional accessories, how is it different from the silver and the gold version? According to their website you can purchase the accessory separately for any of the models
How does the hair come out when you clean it
The Skull Shave I have came with a cleaner container that you fill with water and then then place the Shaver in it and run it for 15-30 seconds. Then you can rinse it out. Or, you can rinse it under water if you do not have the cleaner container.
@@vishantdave7924 why not just open it up and rinse it out ? If it’s closed the hair isn’t going anywhere…..
A better close up of cleaning the device. Would have liked to see the hair in the sink. Otherwise good video. Thanks 👍🏿 👌🏿.
Thanks for sharing your real experience.
You’re welcome and I appreciate you watching
Can you use it to shave your face without destroying it?
Great review. I had no idea it captured the hair.
Thank you
Thank you for your review. Really helpful 👍🏼
Great review I'm gonna pull the trigger on one thanks bro 👍
You're welcome
How do you like it bro
@Lookout I like it I use it a couple times a week works good for me
Do you use the shaver dry?
I just order this one, it arrives monday I cant wait.!
I hope you like it!
How is it going?
My husband has sores on his head and has to be careful when he clips his pate. Will this shaver catch on small raised areas?
In my experience with using the Shaver for almost2 years, I have not come across that issue.
I gotta have it baby butt smooth or I'm not happy. Stubble is not a option for me.
Would it be annoying to use this if you wait like 3-4 days before you shave again
I got my today l love it great shaver
Great to hear!
Only reason y I got it is cause I could buy it right then
@@builtat_the_beach1516 I have not seen that but I will check it out. Thank you
👍 I imagine it works just as well on your face, too?
I cant speak on that, I have never tried.
Is there any better ones or shall i go for these one :)
Great review. I've been using a Wahl. It's messy.
Thanks. This is clean and quick.
Is this skull shaver better than going to a barber shop. Also does it get every here completely off that's on your head.
I always go to barber shop and get my head shaved but it's costing too much money more and more every time I go.
I cant say if it is better then going to a barber shop but in my experience it does get all the hair off.
@@vishantdave7924
That's awesome,
Thanks for that information and yes I appreciate it a lot
I know this video is very old but what is the point of using it if you just use the andes shaver afterwards? Appreciate the honest review.
The thing is you don't have to use the Andis after. Sometimes I do and sometimes I do not. The Andis will just give it an even closer shave. The Andis in my experience can't cut the hair which is several days grown very well but the Skull Shaver can.
@@vishantdave7924 Okay thanks for the clarification so it's basically like a razor you don't have to use it but you choose to after clipping it.

Nice video…is the Diamond version different from the platinum?
What kind of conditioner do you use on your head after you shave it?
I currently shave with regular disposable razors but I don’t like the fresh shaved look too much. I find my best look is about a day or 2 after a shave. Would this help me keep a stubble look? Thanks!
It may look freshly shaved with this product but I dont think it will feel the same as a freshly shaved head with a razor. Look wise I could not tell you 100% the look. My hair definitely grows back and is visible grown back within 2 days using this.
How come if you shave your head with a razor this isn’t for you? Isn’t it the same effect
There is no blade involved with the skull shaver. Therefore, it does not cut as close. It may look similar aesthetically but a razor will cut closer. So that is why if a person is use to shaving with a razor and that close of a shave, this will not be the same.
Does it give you ingrown hairs tho that's what I'm worried about
I have not experiened any ingrown hair issues.
Can it under wather?
It is cleaned with water and some people I have seen do use it in the shower. I personally have not.
what model of Andis foil shaver is that?
Andis 17150 pro foil lithium
Thanks for the video. It was difficult to tell how much time you actually spent with the skull shaved because the video was fast forwarded. I was about to make out that multiple passes see needed for a specific area, similar to a face shaver.
It took roughly 2:45min to shave 1/2 of my head using the Skull shaver so overall it took me 6 minutes to do my whole head.
Have you had to change the shaver head since you had it in the first year ? Or it still going well with it
Yes I have changed it. I believe in the manual it says to change it every 3 months but I went 6 months before changing it
Why is there noise playing while you are talking?
How many times you gotta over the same spot?
you go in a cirrcular pattern but depending on how long your hair is will determine that. When my hair is not to grown out its quicker then when it is a few days (4-5 days) of growth.
Great video. The wife just hooked me up with the platinum today for Christmas. Can you shave with it in the shower?
Thank you for watching! I do believe it can be used in the shower but I personally have not done so. I use it without any shaving gel as well and it works well.
Really enjoyed this video I too shave my head ...
Thank you
Thanks i was not sure but after see ur video i wll get one. Did u ever tryed babyliss or norelco one blade?
Glad you found the video helpful. No, I have not tried any of those other two products. I have only used in addition the Andis shaver which I referred to in my video.
I was looking at norelco one blade as well. I currently use a pair of clippers and a safety razor. I’m looking for something else, considered one blade but I’ve seen mixed reviews. And the bad ones were pretty bad
@@grizzleg8729 I think the skull shaver is a good buy. For me to have it for 1 year and the amount of time it saves me is just great. I think if you get one you will feel the same way. I have not used any other head shavers on the market.
YOU MAKE THE SKULL SHAVER LOOKS SO EASY TO CLEAN I LIKE HOW QUICK AND CONVENIENT IT IS… I NEED TO HEAVILY INVEST IN ONE OF THESE❤❤👊🏿💯🙏🏿
Is it good for shaving your beard too? I hate shaving my face.
I have not tried it on my face, only for shaving my head.
@@vishantdave7924 thanks for the reply!
Nice. Have you used it for your face?
I currently use a Wahl head buzzer with no guard to get that close to clean shaven feel.
Is the Pitbull shaver worth the price? Can you trim your beard with it, or does it just have that one setting of a near clean shaven look?
Super helpful dude thanks a ton!
Great to hear!
Such a great video on this thanks dude
Glad you enjoyed it
I would say it probably takes about 10 minutes if you do it thoroughly but that’s still good
