Thanks for posting the Interview with Michael. Charlie Rose has a great show and guests. I was lucky to have known Michael back in the 75-76 time frame when he "found" Patti Smith. When he played for me her record , I thought she was interesting but I didn't get it. She and Michael (R.E.M.) are now in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I guess someone got it. As far as the audio quality of the video clip, I couldn't tell if the eq needed more highs or that was just Michael, maybe both.
*Stipe is one of the most studied talkers with amazing perspicacity. I only wish I'd appreciated the early years of REM when it was happening. Their IRS and first few WARNERS albums are ineffable*
No way Stipe could have done this when they started. He was painfully shy when not fronting the band. He found a way to grow into the role of spokesperson, along with Buck and Mills, who were always great in interviews. I wish Bill had talked more. Still waters and all that.
I enjoyed Charlie Rose. He did an excellent job interviewing interesting people. Too bad he turned out to be a sexual creep and got booted off the air. Such a great career torpedoed by his unruly behavior.
