I knew every beat and every word to these songs when I was sixteen years old, now that I am a woman of a certain age, I am happy to say my love for their music was not misplaced. It was exquisite then, and it is exquisite now. Well done gentlemen!
The good ol' days! The last time I saw this line up was in May 2004, Tampa, FL. Jon came down from the stage to hug people. All of a sudden he came my way and hugged a girl sitting behind me but when he turned around I grabbed both his shoulders from behind him and said, "Thank you, Jon, thank you!" He kept on going but then turned his head to make eye contact with me and gave me a smile. Or, so I think. Whatever the case might be, I truly miss this line up, I truly do.
On my first listen of the Close to the Edge album, I thought there was no way to top the title song. But then Siberian Khatru came on and I was proven wrong. The lyrics, Steve Howe’s licks and Chris Squire layin down the bass line...wow!
F___ Bill. He left an astonishing ensemble on his own accord. He's been bitchin and moaning on a regular basis about it ever since. The late Alan White was a superstar member of the best band ever. Burford turned into a bitchy clown with regards to yes. The spectacular creations after he departed should have been his conversation and appreciation. But he wasn't quite up for that. Thus the bitch thing.
That's when you knew.." Firebird" by Stravinsky..Hurry get to your seat, the show is about to take you on a journey to the other side, "YES" Close your eyes and enjoy the sounds..
Yes, probably the last time they were really great. I saw them in 2008 or 2009, with Benoit David on vocals and (I think) Oliver Wakeman on keyboards and they were already little more than a tribute band by then. They should've stopped when Anderson couldn't perform for health reasons and only restarted once he'd recovered.
Thank God my sister let me listen to her CTTE way back then..... I can't imagine having gone through puberty, teen angst, young, middle, and now early old age without being able to listen to them. Thank you, so much appreciated!
It's hard to believe sometimes that there was a time when songwriting and performance on this level could be witnessed by anybody who had the time and money to go see a concert, by YES or any other number of top notch bands. I saw them twice in the late 70's; I had to drive a few hours and spent a little bit of money, but you can't buy a concert like this again.
the keys are a bit too loud in the mix but I don't care, this is a version that made me absolutely fall in love with this song and I think this is the best solo on Siberian Khatru I have ever heard :P
Sing, bird of prey Beauty begins at the foot of you Do you believe the manner? Gold stainless nail Torn through the distance of man As they regard the summit Even Siberia goes through the motions Hold out and hold up Hold down the window (Outbound, river) Hold out the mornin' that comes into view (Blue tail, tail fly) River runnin' right on over my head How does she sing? Who holds the ring? And ring and you will find me coming Cold reigning king Hold all the secrets from you As they produce the movement Even Siberia goes through the motions Hold out and hold up Hold down the window (Outbound, river) Hold out the mornin' that comes into view (Blue tail, tail fly) River runnin' right on over the outboard River, blue tail, tail fly, Luther, in time Hold down the window Hold out the morning that comes into view Warm side, the tower Green leaves reveal the heart spoken khatru Gold stainless nail Torn through the distance of man As they regard the summit Cold reigning king Shelter the women that sing As they produce the movement River running right on over then over my head (Outboard, river) Blue tail, tail fly, Luther, in time Sun tower, asking, cover, lover June cast, moon fast as one changes Heart gold leaver, soul mark mover Christian changer, called out savior Moon gate climber, turn round glider
just saw "Yes" in Birmingham, Al....Davison is a very good singer, but the chief lyricist and soul of this band is Jon Anderson. Downes is a fine keyboardist, but nothing like what you hear from Wakeman in this piece. Downes and Howe have no keyboard/guitar battles and Downes solos are kept to a minimum. The volume on the boards is reduced to a minimum (I'm guessing Steve insisted on that -- ) anyway Yes music is timeless and I'm glad somebody is performing it.
It was the last time I saw this lineup also and it was in Tampa also, totally loved Minddrive.Bummer that the Ice Palace was only half full So glad that Yes can e to the Tampa Bay area, got a chance to hear all three singers barring Trevor Horn.Benoit was in my humble opinion better than Davidson, he seemed to hit the high notes like Mr. Anderson.
this was where it should have stopped. the band were in top form....after this they tried( and failed in my opinion) to drop in other musicians.... just isn't the same. RIP Chris.
Simon Kirkwood Yes was riding the highest of waves at this time, agree. But, I am personally happy they continued with Trevor Rabin in place of Steve Howe,,,, Loved the one Yes album he cowrote. I love Tormato, awesome album with Chris Squire showing his unique talents on his Rickenbacker, a piano sounding bass with incredible sustain, (been playing one since 1984 myself).. I had the pleasure of watching Chris Squire and Allen White for a solo (sort of) effort with members of Toto for the Chris Squire Experiment in San Diego. Allen White is a pleasurable man who I enjoyed a conversation with after the gig, just think.... he drummed for John Lennon in the Plastic Ono Band!.... think Paul and John should have quit,,, no classic Wings songs... sad to think of that. Quit?... no, never... as long as we enjoy their craft and they enjoyed performing,,,, there was always a full room. I love Yes, miss Chris and hope all the members of Yes enjoy a long and happy retirement. Thank you Yes.
Hippie Dave I believe Simon meant they should have stopped after the tour shown here (2003). Perhaps you realized that too and were simply commenting on the pre-90125 decision to carry on as well. Either way I agree with Simon...2003 was the end. They are just a tribute band now. I guess one could argue that so is Anderson, Wakeman and Rabin. But I did see their show and it was terrific. Chris’ absence is huge, but hearing Jon sing again makes it at least seem close to the old band.
most unbelievable ......this line up .... you had bruford at times in the band , but if if im not mistaken ..... this is as close if not the original line up . truly an iconic and irreplacable band . .... it would have been an even better double billing if toto was on tour in 03 .
2003 was the last year of Yes as we knew it. What has transpired since then has not been Yes. The two bands carrying on with the music were good tribute bands, but not Yes
All British 'rock gods', including Jon Andersen, eventually end up looking like they should be playing in a workingmen's club. Still, Yes' brilliance shines through here, doesn't it? It just doesn't seem as important now that they are so much older. Sad, really ...
please people stop saying that certain yes members are terrible because they arent and rick wakeman hates alan and steve so it definitely will never happen
One of the Greatest lineups of Musicians period! Everyone a Master!
This (Anderson, Howe, Squire, Wakeman, White) is my all time favorite Yes line-up.
Agreed!
I knew every beat and every word to these songs when I was sixteen years old, now that I am a woman of a certain age, I am happy to say my love for their music was not misplaced. It was exquisite then, and it is exquisite now. Well done gentlemen!
Don’t know you but we have all become a certain age and are better for it. Embracing those memories and joy they brought.
right there with u
never forget this awesome music.
for sure. always listening. gets better with age
Amen. We are all lucky to have had Yes music in our lives.
Angel music love YES ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 ❤️ 😍 💖 ❣️ 💕 💘 saw them 10 times in the round
More than 30 years later and still in top form. Very, very few bands could pull this off.
YES, a state of mind and ethos! Long may their music exist!
Miss Chris and Alan so much.
Always Loved Chris Squires Rickenbacker with those Roto-Sound strings..
R.I.P. my friend.. Missing You

Totally sublime! This is THE Yes i love best & saw throughout the late 70's & beyond. Without Rick, Chris & our Jon they are not Yes.
Fantastic!
come on man
anyone can hold the name yes and alan and steve are crucial yes's sound
I'd throw in Steve just for S and G's.What do you think?
Agree 100 %
Without Jon and Chris Yes is NO.
On my first listen of the Close to the Edge album, I thought there was no way to top the title song. But then Siberian Khatru came on and I was proven wrong. The lyrics, Steve Howe’s licks and Chris Squire layin down the bass line...wow!
This was my favorite track
Amen brother, so glad we have this....Bruford would make it PERFECT, but a lot of people undersell Alan...I'm just quite alright with him!
Had many oppurtunities to take my seat, close my eyes and feel the sublime. Yes!
I totally remember Firebird playing before they entered the Stage.. 1970's were the Best 👌
Thanks! They look wonderful. The version is perfect for me. Good Old Times...
This is how I remember and love them.
Yes, probably the last time they were really great.

Jon looks like he just came off the night shift at the hospital.
haha!
Es freut mich immer wieder zu sehen, wenn alte Männer Musik machen. Ich bin auch so einer. Aber nur Zuhörer.
Thank God my sister let me listen to her CTTE way back then..... I can't imagine having gone through puberty, teen angst, young, middle, and now early old age without being able to listen to them. Thank you, so much appreciated!
@TacomaPaul -- Same here... December 1974, the OLD Boston Garden, the "Relayer" Tour - one hell of a show!
Al Tavers I was in the front row at that show, right in front of Chris Squire. Unforgettable!
When you heard Firebird Suite you got chills and knew they were minutes away from the stage they are electrifying
many thanks for posting! I have enjoyed their concert at Cardiff in 2003 and really remember this song a bit slower than my favorite speed.
It's hard to believe sometimes that there was a time when songwriting and performance on this level could be witnessed by anybody who had the time and money to go see a concert, by YES or any other number of top notch bands. Funny how Rick is walking without moving his arms. I missed his Mellotron chord transition between ‘Firebird’ and ‘Khatru’ though. :/
Yes es lo mejor que pudo pasar todo aquel de oído fino.
RIP Alan White the brillian drumer of YES
☮️🎸🎸🎸🎸☮️

ROMA GIULIO 2022
the keys are a bit too loud in the mix but I don't care, this is a version that made me absolutely fall in love with this song and I think this is the best solo on Siberian Khatru I have ever heard :P
Steve's Solo is amazing but I wish it had that little touch of distortion.
@@mirrortime and a little more gain.
Gracias Milllll
Breathtaking!
That intro.... Mussorgsky's "Firebird Suite".... ever since I first saw them in '74.... BEST EVER !
Igor Stravinsky of course rather than Mussorgsky, but brilliant.
Greatest symphonic/progressive rock group of all time.
Man, thank you very much for your hard work!!!
I'm somewhere in that audience. Just getting in the mood for a Cardiff show tomorrow.
They are an great live band
Sing, bird of prey

River, blue tail, tail fly, Luther, in time
Hold down the window
Hold out the morning that comes into view
Warm side, the tower
Green leaves reveal the heart spoken khatru
Gold stainless nail
Torn through the distance of man
As they regard the summit
Cold reigning king
Shelter the women that sing
As they produce the movement
River running right on over then over my head

Jon Anderson looks like the grandma from Napoleon Dynamite here
Crazy that this concert was 20 years ago 😳
And still playing today!!!
@TacomaPaul Correction: It's actually Stravinsky's Firebird Suite.
they came to ottawa on the day of a snow storm.. sorry Yes.. i wanted to go.. darn

Band Extraordinaire.
Far better than the karaoke thing that masquerades as Yes now
Even Siberia goes through the motion! I wonder what the people of Siberia think of this statement?
Replying to my own comment i Having been to Siberia, I didn't see any Khatru(s). Never did I think I would be able to reply to this!
Ahhh... thank you !
Yes it is.
I don't think i've ever heard that story before. Peter Banks named the band Yes!
They are so quiet here especially compared to the 72 version
Wakeman looking and sounding very cool
i wish i was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heroic!
Yes.vcs.1o
Toninho❤
this was where it should have stopped. the band were in top form....after this they tried( and failed in my opinion) to drop in other musicians.... just isn't the same.
RIP Chris.

What's sad is we still have enough members around to make it an interesting band, but they don't seem to get along.
Hippie Dave Steve Howe has no equality
most unbelievable ......this line up .... you had bruford at times in the band , but if if im not mistaken ..... this is as close if not the original line up . truly an iconic and irreplacable band . .... it would have been an even better double billing if toto was on tour in 03 .
+1610austin Original lineup is Anderson, Squire. Bruford, Peter Banks and Tony Kaye
yeah but original line up normally means the line up from fragile which was when they broke into the mainstream a little more
Most popular maybe, and my favorite lineup but not original, meaning founding members.
I was a fan of YES when I was a zygote in the womb.
4:07 BLUETAIL
bad asssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Музыка классная, очень нравится мне слушаю 40лет.
I was at this show and Liverpool should of recorded the Liverpool show it blew the Birmingham out of the water
YES!
Actually this was their Full Circle Tour, not their 35th Anniversary Tour (which was in 2004)
2003 was the last year of Yes as we knew it. What has transpired since then has not been Yes. The two bands carrying on with the music were good tribute bands, but not Yes
They are very cool aged music boys.
やっぱりイエスサウンド、イイ!
I know, right? Like "What are we? Chop liver?!". LOL
What's Up, with the Roger Dean drawings?
Was the sound guy wearing a Blur T shirt ? :-)
when you had to be a Musician to play music.
Bravo.
Took em half the song, but they finally got the song off the ground...
Spinal Tap vibes in beginning
Steve is amazing 😳😳😳
YES YES YES TORMATO 😅😊😊❤❤
no no no - YES!
Suena la raja el bajo...
Spinal Tap forever.
All British 'rock gods', including Jon Andersen, eventually end up looking like they should be playing in a workingmen's club. Still, Yes' brilliance shines through here, doesn't it? It just doesn't seem as important now that they are so much older. Sad, really ...
i must say, he looks much better than you, eamonn
Thanks ... you made my day, after waiting for two years! 😁
Drums are way too low in volume in the mix. That way the groove suffers. Come on Mr Engineer, lesson one: first drums and bass, then the the rest.
Jon... who made you wear that awful tracksuit haha
He always had to be different. Yes, like a plant, had roots, a stalk and flowers.....
baddist band around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
downes is awful get wakemans back and Anderson for a tribute to Chris it would be great but won't happen
I couldn't have said it better myself
How is Downes "awful"?
Ok I’ll admit that I miss rick on most songs but Downes is not terrible he does my favorite ritual ever
Yep and get Geddy Lee to play bass since he isn't doing anything right now anyway
please people stop saying that certain yes members are terrible because they arent and rick wakeman hates alan and steve so it definitely will never happen
Much as I love yes, this is a train-wreck compared to their pomp.
Agreed , dont know if man on mixer got all levels wrong or yes just didnt have it this night , sounds weak and laboured
Show.... SOVIÉTICO!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Steve WOW
YES!
YES!
