STRONGHOLD: A mindset impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable situations that we know are contrary to the will of God. How is this based on our knowledge of God's will? Wouldn't a mindset impregnated with hopelessness that causes us to accept as unchangeable be a stronghold regardless of whether we know God's will or not? I'm not trying to be antagonistic but trying to understand what I'm missing.
Steve, great question! In answer to your question: yes. A mindset riddled with hopelessness certainly describes a stronghold (based on the Greek definition of the term), regardless if we know the truth of the Scripture or not. Countless people are immobilized in their lives by believing the wrong things, especially demonic deception. The tragedy, however, is that strongholds have the ability of making us believe we're incapable of manifesting the truth of God's word. When we believe lies over truth (the Word of God), those lies reign supreme, and with that perspective, we tend to nullify what God's word can do in our lives. For example, I have had people tell me their sins were too great for God to forgive. Therefore, we live much less than what is biblically possible.
