SKETCHPAD is a free MIDI recorder that runs inside of Kontakt. Load it up alongside your favorite Kontakt instruments and record everything you play, then drag a MIDI file of your recording to the timeline of your DAW or into your favorite notation program.
Harness the creativity in free-writing. Record long improvisations outside of your DAW without the temptation to edit or tweak. Then select the best parts of your performance later.
Start writing - fast! Musical ideas can be fleeting, but starting up a modern DAW with hundreds of plug-ins can take several minutes: long enough that you might lose your moment of inspiration. Save a default Kontakt multi with the light-weight SKETCHPAD instrument pre-instantiated and you can be composing in seconds - before you lose your train of thought.

Very cool! I'd love to one day maybe see a built in midi editor too, probably in a paid version. (If that's even possible 😅)

I have long been looking for a way to record note data created or modified by Kontakt instruments as MIDI, for example the animator functions or arpeggios, in order to use them with other instruments. is that possible? Basically, Kontakt even offers the option "Script generated Notes" to record everything. But unfortunately this doesn't work very well. Or does it only take the events from the midi input?
It wouldn’t do it, as-is. But if you send me an email through the website contact page, I have an idea for a “life hack” approach that might work for some cases.
What does Sketchpad do that I can't do in my DAW ?
It lets you record musical ideas without having to open your DAW. :-)
