It’s from a combination of places. The bass and pizzicato strings + winds are from Space Age Rhythm, the trumpet and tenor trombone are from Space Age Pop, and the drums are Jazz Anthology Drums. (authentic-soundware.com/products)

Not at the moment. 😬 I'm going to release an update in few weeks that will include a full PDF manual. The video seemed more useful so that's where I put my effort for the initial release, but I get that some people prefer a written document. In the meantime, there is also a built-in cheat sheet to help you navigate the concepts of the pattern maker. From the pattern maker tab, if you click on the "i" button in the top-right corner, it will reveal the cheat sheet. If you get stuck, just send me an email through the contact form on the website and I'll get back to you asap! Note that the "i" button on the kit tab displays different information.

Hi there! Good question! The articulations that have an indefinite note length (such as the rolls or long ballad brush sweeps) wouldn’t work with the pattern maker because of the unpredictability of when the note would be released. So they’re not available as options in the sound menu. However you can make your pattern as normal, and then just layer the roll over it in your DAW’s sequencer track. Adding extra notes won’t interfere with the playback of the pattern. Send me an email through the contact form on the website if you need any more help!

Hey there, sorry it doesn’t come with any odd meters other than 3/4 and 5/4. You can build patterns in either 7/8 or 9/8 but the rhythmic feel might sound off. You’d just need to experiment.

That's a custom instrument I made. It worked for this purpose but isn't comprehensive enough to release as full commercial library.

Hi! You could voice them yourself using the single-note samples, but those aren't included as sampled chords. The available chord types are: major triad (3 inversions) major 7 minor triad (3 inversions) minor 7 dominant 7 dom 7 (sus 4) I tried to focus on the most common chord types in this style. Let me know if you have any more questions!

I’m very sorry to say that it is not NKS compatible. I hope to one day make that leap, but at the moment, the economics of making such niche products doesn’t allow for it.

Very interesting thought. Someone said that it's been done on piano samples. I can imagine sound good on acoustic guitar strums.

Hey there! Good question. The Fairchild was not strapped across the mix, we used it as an absurd $40,000 simple gain stage in driving the tape options for two of the mic positions (OH mono, and Kit 2). The time constant was on 1, but we had the threshold set so there was essentially no gain reduction at all. I really wanted to drive the tape signal for this library and the Fairchilds were patched between the Neve and the Ampex machine just to gave us a little extra mojo on the way in.
