Front engine, rear wheel drive, 50/50 weight distribution and a joyful manual transmission. I own the heaviest of the bunch, a 2010 GT, and I would not change it for anything else. Plus they are simple cars to work on, and pretty darn reliable. Miata is always the answer IMHO.
1 price 2 more family friendly 3 more luxurious the 911 is a great car but expensive and it’s a sports 2 seater so not the best for family or somebody with a lower budget
Mini Cooper convertible is ranked number 1?? That company must have paid insane amount of advertising dollar to get this piece of junk on to the top of your list! This channel just lost all of its credibility.
I drove both and the mini has so much better handling even if fwd, and the Miata cannot hold a 6foot male comfortably. Don't understand why most or more people prefer the Miata, the handling is crisp and sharp on the mini and I've driven f12 and 911 turbo s Don't get it at all, just me I guess I feel dumb to be on the minority of this one considering the mini is head and shoulders more roomy and much more fun, even if it's a bit slower.
What's the context? You totally lost me when you said the MINI is no. 1 !!! That means you are saying that its combination of looks, performance, handling, comfort, practicality and quality is the best. Obviously price and value aren't a factor in this list, so the fact that the MINI is expensive and poor value don't need to be said, but I'm explicitly saying the obvious anyway. I'm a Brit and I think only a Brit could fool himself into putting the MINI on top of that list. As price and value are obviously not part of this equation, there are several convertibles that are better than those listed. Even to suggest the two Mercs on the list are Mercs top two convertibles is to my mind simply ludicrous. I'm not an MX-5 fanboy, but I acknowledge its strengths and value for money, and maybe British journalists should do a better job of talking about street-legal performance. Top speed is a great bragging point when you're down the pub, but even on a track you're unlikely to be able to top 200mph, so that leaves a few tracks, and the German Autobahn where it's theoretically possible. But how many videos are there of someone doing >200mph/320kph on the Autobahn? Personally, I haven't seen any over 180mph, and that one took several attempts because of slower cars in the way, and because even on the Autobahn it's very dangerous to attempt such high speeds, not least with the prospect of a slower moving car entering the fast lane in front of you that didn't see you or consider how fast you are going. Bhp is another great bragging right, but how much can you legally and realistically put down on the road? Sound is another aspect, but then many cars only sound great at high revs, so in how many gears can one wring a cars neck within the speed limit? Journalists keep talking about buyers going to the track. Please, what percentage of buyers, new car buyers in particular (who generally risk the car's warranty) take their cars to the track? We are not motoring journalists. We live in countries that for the most part have very restrictive speed limits. In Britain, when you talk about the twisties, for the most part you are talking about narrow so-called B roads with a maximum speed of 60mph, often poor forward visability and poor surfacing that are not a natural home to wide supercars. In these contexts, I can see the MX-5 being arguably the best B-road convertible. You seem to be arguing the MINI is better. You also seem to be arguing that the MINI is better than the Boxster. One could argue over the 911 cabrio vs the Boxster in general, but it is arguable that the Boxster is a better B-roader. So, what is the context? You give none. You say "Top 10 best convertibles to buy in 2019." In what context? Under 100 grand? Certainly, the context is not sporty driving. Certainly, the context is not luxury. Certainly it's not performance in terms of top speed or power. Certainly it's not handling. Certainly it's not value for money. And you say metal hard tops are not popular anymore. They are with insurance companies, those that don't have garages, etc. They are if you want to drive above certain speeds. They seem to have lost favour with some manufacturers is really about all you can say, seemingly for weight saving and/or WLTP economy figures. Please, as a general statement, you cannot really be saying that these 10 are the 10 best convertibles on sale in 2019. If you are saying that, and at face value you are, you have lost all credibility in so doing!
Once upon a time you could get rag top versions of the Golf, Astra, Escort, 306, 205 the list goes on but apart from the Mazda everything else is from a premium brand. A great shame.
You know you got to be able to drive the car to enjoy it and if you're buying one of those minis or a Mercedes you've got to have a special relationship with the overpriced mechanic I'll take the MX5 everyday most reliable automobile in the entire segment and you can drive it everyday and fix it yourself.
I had decided not to watch any of your videos before but, this came up on my feed and I’ve been wondering about convertibles lately so, I clicked... it was a mistake.
It's garbage! Nothing can beat a Boxster in this category! Unbeatable handling. Great luggage space. Super reliable! But gotta get a used one with the flat 6
Mini No.1 - no way. Yes it has go-cart handling but try living with it. The seating - pedals position is terrible, the clutch is heavy and rearward visibility is abysmal, hood up or down. The dash layout and controls are quirky and hard to use (after 4 years my wife still hasn't got used to the window switches or the soft touch indicators). The boot is just a slightly larger glove box and the whole thing shakes and rattles like mad. My TT roadster is much easier to live with.
What a POS they put on a first place!!!! They started with BMW and Mercedes, continued with Porsche and suppose to finish at least with Lambo or Ferrari and..... what a junk came on 1st place.....!!!!!!!
Really? Mini Cooper in first place? Sorry, but the BEST must be Range Rover Evoque Convertible, because is the only convertible with off-road performance, and enough space in the back and the boots
Is this a tutorial on how to get dislikes?
The best thing about the Mazda MX-5 is that unlike the others on the list any working stiff can own one.
The mini S and the Audi A3 are more affordable than the mx5
Is there gonna be a 2022 Mazda MX five
The best thing about the MX5 is that its affordable, very cheap to run, and totally reliable.
They forgot about the dababy convertible.
What a shame
Yeah:(
What is?
Mini.... no1.....this is just wrong !
Though, I do like the Union Jack breaking lights. Beyond that it's just traditional English nostalgia and arrogance.
yeh.. mini is a wrong.
When I saw Mazda num 3 really this is very terrible video, this guy has no idea about cars.
The Miata is a much better pick than the Mini.
No
If you want to use it as a daily driver the mini is definitely better

How can an A3 be higher than a 911?
Cause its a general list. It's not best sports car cabriolet kind of list.
1 price 2 more family friendly 3 more luxurious the 911 is a great car but expensive and it’s a sports 2 seater so not the best for family or somebody with a lower budget
@@XDkoliz well yes but the title just said convertibles not a family car . The 911 is also more luxurious
Where are the BMW 2-series and Z4? Both great convertibles.
You didnt watch the video did you?
Z4 is more a roadster than cabrio
Patrik Bionda MX5 is also a roadster
I was going to go buy a Porsche covetable but sod then. Minis are the best apparently 👀
No...but this video was bad
No Mercedes SL 550? It’s still one of the bosses in this segment. At least in the top ten! 🤔
#1 for 2019 is a used manual Boxster with a flat 6. I have a 987.2 and will drive it until I die!
#1 would be the 2020 Porsche Spyder 400+ HP with a six speed manual. Enough said.
Somebody give this man a medal
I still say my 640 d msport sapphire black white trim is still one of the sexiest looking cabs out there..

No Pista, Perfomante, 720S... they all have a convertible variant; or Portofino, DB11 Superleggera or RR should've also been featured
Honorable mention: Dababy convertible
What about the slc and slk?
What about the Mercedes SLK? A Hard top that is better in every way than a mini.
Now SLC*
