      Unpopular opinion over here;
      But I think that Sabes being Wolvies brother DOES help the case of the story, I mean think about it, they are enemies right?
      And what hurts you more, someone you barely know or have smth. in common with tormenting you, or someone you (at least are supposed to) trust doing the same.
      Also in an R rating they could showcase a much more graphic/traumatizing portrayal of abuse like either the Cleganes in GOT or Noir and SB in The Boys.
      Oh and also they could be european (irish/british) migrants who have grown up in the american east Coast(Victorian era) and just happen to have the canadian citizenship due to convinience related to a past of crime.

    • @jinzin1
      @jinzin1 Год назад +171

      In "Wolverine" (vol.2) # 126, Loges says that he always thought his hf was better but before his eyes Creed proves him wrong, and this was bone claw Loges, so Creed has had a directly competitive hf with the fastest healing form of Wolvie, since the late 90's.
      Originally, Sabretooth's first appearances, before he started showing up in X-Men books, were completely absent of a healing factor; But this was in part because Claremont was still aiming to reveal that all the Sabretooth appearances of him in the Byrne costume were faulty clones (except *maybe* his first appearance in Iron Fist), but that the first real confirmed appearance of the original Sabretooth would be when he finally showed up in the Jim Lee costume, and since Claremont removed himself (/was removed?) from the "X-Men" 91 so early, he never got to take Creed in that intended direction (though we've seen echoes of that plot show up in Wolverine comics, X-Men comics and Claremont's "X-Men Forever" timeline). This is why Sabretooth was seemingly killed during his Byrne costume era several times and bounced back without the "how" ever really being addressed.
      In terms of publication history, Sabretooth's first displays of actual healing came after showing up in X-Men comics; First, fairly instantly jumping back to his feet after getting knocked out by a Cyclops optic blast to the back of the head, then pretty instantly recovering from Archangel's paralysis darts then again quickly recovering from getting nearly chopped in half by Warren's metal wings. There was also his second on panel fight with Logan at the X-mansion where Logan stabs him in the leg with all three claws and Sabretooth launches him into the air and then jumps from the floor level up to the top of the mansion roof with no visible issue with his leg. All of these instances were during or around the time of the mutant massacre and seem to indicate Creed's healing was as good if not better than Logan's at the time.
      Since then, Creed's had his healing factor artificially upgraded/enhanced twice by two full body upgrades (one by his son, Graydon and the other by Weapon-X), and his healing factor upgraded naturally after his first introduction to Adamantium by Apocalypse (his body responds to Adamantium in reverse to how it effects Wolverine), and it was stated or suggested that his healing factor naturally got stronger after he initially got stabbed in the brain by Logan in 1995.
      In terms of retroactive based stories, it's been revealed that Creed's healing factor has always been o.p.
      Meanwhile Wolverine's healing factor/physicals are in a constant state of evolution (which may be mutation, or supernatural ["Wolverine: The Best There Is"]) so I guess that's how he keeps up with Creed's enhancements in terms of healing.
      Wolverine's able to contend with Creed in fights because he's slightly more skilled and honed, and much better able to resist being swayed by his animalistic instincts where as Creed relies on them (for reference, Old Man Logan says killing a feral Sabretooth from his timeline was easy because Creed had abandoned the "man" part of himself, which regular Creed still struggles with)... This is all on top of the fact that Creed does not take Logan seriously; He thinks when him and Logan are engaged in combat (when Logan's already being pushed into a rage), that they're "playing".

I find it confusing how inconsistent the quality of Sabertooth’s healing truly is, as well as Wolverine’s. I know they’re very similar. 11:27 In fact, I believe Wolverine and Sabertooth have quite possibly the two most similar healing abilities, as it’s hinted in many places that they CANNOT survive decapitation. 10:25 Also , they are extremely similar with their animal like senses and features, as well as strength.

    Sabretooth wasn't originally created to be Wolverine's evil opposite.
    Wolverine's first appearance was in a 1974 issues of the Hulk. Sabretooth's first few appearances were in the Iron Fist and the Poer Man and Iron Fist comics. Claremont created him as an Iron Fist villain. He even fought Spider-Man before he fought the X-Men!
    He didn't actually fight Wolverine in a comic until until 1986! It was only after then that Claremont started retconning the two-character's back stories to include each other. He did such a good job of that that their position as arch rivals was cemented in pop-culture from then on.

    • @jinzin1
      @jinzin1 Год назад +4

      *False.*
      Iron Fist 1975 #15 Iron Fist: *"Here comes Wolverine! Doesn't the man get tired?! His sheer animal ferocity reminds me of Sabretooth... Could there be a connection?"*
      This is literally one issue after Sabretooth's first appearance.
      They were setting up the connection between the characters from the jump and I say *"they"* because Sabretooth was a co-creation between Claremont and John Byrne who always intended to create a familial connection...
      If you go to "Secrets Behind the X-Men blogspot you can find citations from a number of interviews between the creators including Byrne's take about this.
      *John Byrne* : “When I did Iron Fist #14 (1977), I had done a design for what I thought Wolverine looked like without his mask on, which I sent to Chris,” Byrne recalled in Back Issue #4. “And Dave had already done one, which I didn’t know about. And I ended up using that design for Sabretooth.”
      “And that sort of planted little things in my head, and then I got to thinking about that storyline, that typically Chris throwaway line in that Sentinels story (in X-Men #98, 1976) in which the Sentinels said Wolverine was a mutant and a technician said he wasn’t. And I suggested that Sabretooth was his father and that Sabretooth was the mutant and that the mutation had bred true. So Wolverine was actually the first of a new species, and that’s why it confused the technician. Then we got to playing about how Wolverine is 50 years old and Sabretooth is 100 years old.”
      *Chris Claremont* : "“John Byrne and I had a storyline that would have established Sabretooth as Wolverine’s father,” Claremont confirmed in Wizard Tribute To Wolverine. “And that was a thread that I ran through the series for my entire tenure. The whole point of the birthday party story in Wolverine vol.2 #10 (1989), my last issue, was to establish that pretty much every year on his birthday he gets hunted. And every year he has lost. I also did it in a back-up story in Classic X-Men #10 (1987).”
      _____
      The only thing I've seen along the lines of what you're claiming here is something a blogger posted while trying to put words in Claremont's mouth with a limited frame of interaction.
      All of those Sabretooth appearances you are talking about (with a *possible exception* of his first appearance) were originally supposed to be clones according to Claremont; They weren't even the real deal (*at the time of their publications*)
      *Chris Claremont* : "What I ultimately was going to establish was that all the Sabretooths we had seen heretofore, with the possible exception of the one in Iron Fist #14, were clones made by Mr. Sinister. They were Xeroxes,” Claremont revealed in Wizard Tribute To Wolverine.
      However, in Iron Fist #14, 1977, Sabretooth had an employer whose identity has never been revealed. Sabretooth had been hired to stop lawyer Jeryn Hogarth’s investigation into who was draining Rand-Meachum of funds. With Mr. Sinister having a retroactive influence in the Marvel universe, it is possible that he could have been Sabretooth’s employer, stealing money from Rand-Meachum to finance his clone experiments.
      “Sinister’s modus operandi was to capture an operative, stick him in a stasis chamber, clone a copy and send that person out to do battle,” Claremont revealed in Wizard Tribute To Wolverine. “So you have an inexhaustible supply of Marauders from his clutch of villains.”
      That explained how Vertigo could be both a Marauder and a Savage Land Mutate at the same time. The Marauder Vertigo was a clone of the Savage Land Vertigo who had escaped Mr. Sinister like the original Sabretooth had.
      ”In the case of Sabretooth, you had a Xerox of a Xerox,” Claremont explained in Wizard Tribute To Wolverine. “That’s why the Sabretooth that has always appeared working for Sinister has been so flawed and so easily beaten. We’ve never seen the real thing. The real thing is quite happy lurking around the fringes of the X-Men universe without any interest whatsoever in the X-Men, but an abiding interest in Wolverine. And Wolverine knows it."

      @jinzin1 no wonder most other writers abandoned so many of Claremont's ideas or just that so many never came to fruition. He was working on Wolverine since 1975, in ented Sabretooth in 1977 and still didn't have them actually meet until 1986 and then wrote the main titles for another 5 years... When was he actually planning on getting around to revealing all these secret plans?

    • @jinzin1
      @jinzin1 Год назад +3

      @@e.j.leonard2379 Very fair criticism. I *think* he insisted that he was going to reveal the real Sabretooth sometime during the beginning of the Jim Lee costume era but for whatever reason or reasons came into creative conflicts at the start of "X-Men" 91 several issues in and had to abandon the title, or was removed from it; I'm not sure because any time I've seen him broach the subject he gets really vague about what happened there. As an aside, I do think the fact that he kept on working on comic runs that kept getting cancelled or altered kept interrupting the pace at which he was able to initially orchestrate his ideas.
      "X-Men Forever" shows Claremont's more current and revised approach to the 91 X-Men era continued and it goes into left field very quick and stays off the rails the whole way through.
      Byrne is (afaIk) still making his own fan-fic comic and it's a bit closer to home but still way outside the norms.
      Funny though that this particular narrative still wove it's way into canon comics a little bit. The Sabretooth clone thing ended up being involved in Wolverine comics but with a bit of a different twist (same story Romulus got an Adamntium/Vibranium skeleton).

      Depends on the universe. Adamantium is ironically attributed as been the perfect metal in other comics because it is specifically non-toxic. In the movie Logan, he thinks the adamantium is toxic but it is confirmed the water has been poisoned against mutants.
      Frankly it didn't really stack up that in 2023 DOFP he was fine but by 2029 Logan he was dying from adamantium. For a sickness to come on so strong after so long of no real effect, it definitely makes sense that it was primarily the poisening of the water.

    The only reason Wolvy always beats Sabretooth is because Wolverine is the 'hero' in the comics. Sabretooth is 6'6" and a very lean 275 pounds. Wolverine is 5'3" & 200 pounds (both not taking into account their metal skeletons.) Their mutant powers are so similar that the only real difference is Wolverine's longer claws & Sabretooth's more cat-like agility & "pounce." Sabretooth is bigger, stronger, more agile & lacks a moral compass. For example, you take two versions of superman to fight each other, one with a moral compass and one without... the Superman without a moral compass wont pull his punches in fear of killing. Non-moral Supe beats Moral Supe every time. Wolverine in theory may be slightly faster, but the overall size, reach, & just overwhelming power of Sabretooth would be way too much to surpass. There is a reason for weight classes in fighting sports, and several weight classes seperate these two. Both are extremely skilled fighters and it's well known at that advanced level, size matters. Think of getting hit by a small honda car going 30mph. Then imagine getting hit by a mac truck going 30mph. Same speed, but that weight & strength behind the Big Rig is going to do far more damage. Even if their strength is similar, Wolverine would have to fight 275 pounds constantly on him, while Sabretooth has 200 on him. Over a lengthy battle, that matters. The only advantage Wolverine has is his longer claws. They are 1ft long compared to Sabretooth's 5" claws. Wolverine could technically cut deeper, but he would need to greatly close the height/reach gap in order to do so on the only part that matters (Sabretooth's Head.) I don't think many people realize the difference in 6'6" & 5'3"
    With that being said, Wolverine has always been my favorite Xmen... so props to the writers for allowing him to keep beating Vic haha

      In the mythos set during the early 90's, it was established that Sabretooth would beat Wolverine up every year on his birthday and that Sabretooth had defeated Wolverine "Not once, but every time they've met." In "Wolverine: First Class", in a story that was set during Kitty Pryde's early years, Wolverine admitted that Creed would make Wolvie lose his cool and then hand his head to him every time. In the last couple of decades Wolverine has been getting more and more on panel wins over Creed but in "Sabretooth: Origin" it was established that Sabretooth literally does not take Wolverine seriously and that he thinks they're battles aren't fighting or killing, but "playing"; So Wolverine beats Creed in part because Creed is playing games, and, usually trying to prove a psychotic point of some sort instead of simply winning a fight.
      As for their physicals;
      *Speed* - Sabretooth is faster than Wolverine and that was established by 3rd person impartial narrative back in the 80's several times over; This was before Sabretooth recieved several upgrades all of which boosted his physicals in some way (one of which Wolverine specifically recognized Creed got faster [after Creed's Weapon-X upgrades).
      *Strength* -Sabretooth is way, way stronger than Wolverine. Without an Adamantium skeleton this guy was knocking Rogue unconscious and getting in direct fist fights with Ms. Marvel where he was gettin' over. He pulled the head off a Shiva droid which is supposed to be able to press 40 tons, and apparently punched out a semi in the 90's... Again, all of which happened before his several upgrades.
      *Durability* - Creed is again, way, way more durable than Logan. In the Byrne era Ms. Marvel said, his muscles were like steel cables and a nerve pinch from even her wouldn't work. His Natural bone claws have shed through Archangels metal wings. He's had multiple instances of having rocket launchers hit him directly in the chest and failing to do even superficial damage beyond singeing his skin a little; Boom-Boom hit 90's Creed (who was defenseless and being held by massive metal retraints) with so much force that it disintegrated his restraints and blew a hole into a large percentage of the metal room he was being held in and all that happened was that his skin turned dark orange. After Creed's Weapon-X upgrades Wolverine recognized Creed got more durable too (on top of being stronger and faster than before).
      Sabretooth was originally bigger and more durable than Wolverine by quite a bit, and his first upgrade made him durable enough to no-sell a gun that was designed to kill him from before the upgrade.
      *Healing Factor* - After Creed's Apocalypse/and/Weapon-X upgrades Wolverine suggested Sabretooth had the faster healing factor between them, and, Sabretooth initially demonstrated feats proving that, but, since the early 2,000's Wolverine healing factor kept randomly power-creeping up to match it; Then in "Wolverine: The Best There Is", it was established that Wolverine's powers and physicals are in a constant state of evolution so at this point one could argue here either way.
      Idk about Supes with and/or without the moral compass tho. In comics, regular Supes smoked Injustice Supes, though tbf it was suggested that Injustice Supes got too used to sandbagging. Supes' powers are more about his mental state than anything else; With a moral compass, he's probably got more access to proper focus aligned with his upbringing and natural disposition while Supes without the moral compass is a direct byproduct of him being in a state of chaos in contrast to those aspects.

      TBH, I always thought where Wolverine beat Sabertooth hands down in was discipline or the willingness to "calm the beast" so to speak. Logan has done multiple martial arts and has learn to combine that with his aggressive side. I remember in an old issue, Xavier compare wolverine's tactics while fighting to being the same as an olympic athletic doing a perfect gold medal performance while beating three grandmasters at chess. So maybe in the beginning its understandable why sabertooth won all his fights but later on Wolverine starting to get that edge, its because he keeps growing

Animated or live action with the right cast.

    I just vaguely remember the thing about Sabretooth hunting wolverine on his birthday, but I had no idea to what extent lol. Dude is literally obsessed, and all because his brother teased him over some pie. One thing the video doesnt mention is that Not only did Sabretooth kill his brother on his birthday over that pie, and then kill his father on the anniversary of his brothers death, but also that he did the exact same thing to his other brother that he did to Wolverine. He would hunt his younger brother down every year on his birthday just to beat him up. Then when he found out Wolverine killed his brother, he proceeded to hunt Wolverine down every year on his birthday instead. Gotta give credit to the persistence, especially the planning that he is willing to drop literally everything just to make sure he has enough time available just to track down Wolverine, wherever he is, on his birthday just for a fight, and then immediately stops said fight when the clock strikes 12. Dude is tenacious.
    Makes me wonder what he would do if he tried tracking Wolverine, but he was busy in some other realm or universe.

      Idk if you are referring to movies only or something but Creed has had Adamantium off and on since the 90's.
      Read Wolverine 126 (which I already referenced above) where Sabres shows up with an Adamantium skeleton bonded to hm by Apocalypse. ...
      Or read Wolverine 164 where Sabretooth is bonded to an Adamantium skeleton again by Weapon X...
      Or Exiles vol.2 where Age of Apocalypse Creed gets an Adamantium skeleton.
      Or the most recent Weapon X comic run (vol.3) where they talk several times about him having an Adamantium skeleton....
      Creed not only survives the Adamantium bonding process but thrives from it reacting to the introduction of the metal with an accelerated healing factor, in contrast to Wolverine who is poisoned by Adamantium. Infact, Creed's body is so adapted to Adamantium, Sabretooth goes into withdrawals after having it removed from his system.
