I tried out a ifi at a shop and didn't like the interface. I went with a qudelix 5k, some of the button stuff is confusing at first, but it's SICK. Both single ended and balanced and the app has full access to the list of EQ's from AutoEQ's database on it that you use and if you want to do your own eq it has all the manual options. Not so fun that you need an app for all the features, but super fun how many features there are. Plus it's teeny tiny, can power my HD600's and has a clip to clip it on a shirt
Dude I got the BTR5's little brother recently, the BTR3K, and it's blowing my mind. Being able to so easily walk around my house with grados, is so dope. I'm so new to good audio world so just playing with the different high quality bluetooth codecs is pretty fun for me.
Definitely going to get a portable dac for myself for christmas. I have been using wired earbuds and they destroy any of the expensive bluetooth buds I've tried. I wouldn't consider one but the fact that it can be used beyond being wireless with the battery is what draws me in. I am tired of stuff that is obsolete after the battery dies.
I got the Meze Empyreum's thanks to this channel, and paired it with the BTR7 when it came out. It sounds like a dream, especially with my PC and Switch. Thanks for getting me started on this fun audio journey.
Merry Chrysler to you too Dank! I only found your channel this year, but now, watching your newest video is one of the first things I do every Friday morning. Seriously, this is my favourite channel I've found this year!
Whenever something like this happens I throw it on my tv and crank up the volume, something bout a tv set really eliminates the background noise. Love the content always ❤️
for budget I think the Qudelix 5k is a bit better than the btr5 bc of the app, its parametric eq is truly amazing and has like 20 hot swap eq profiles, plus its a bit cheaper
So grateful for this platform of DACs emerging onto the market. It’s beyond useful for motorcyclists. For example; I wanted to avoid hearing loss from wind noise while on freeway runs but also want to bump some music. So I velcro’d the BTR5 to the side of my helmet and plugged in some JVC 45mm in-helmet speakers. The BTR5 pushes out enough power to overpower 90mph wind noise through filtered earplugs and sound phenomenal. The entire setup is 100$ less than buying a pricey Cardo or Sena. If you ride motorcycles and want to protect your hearing, still jam out, and dont care about rider comms then try out this setup. It costs 170-190 total and sounds so much better than flagship communicators out rn
I got a BTR5 for christmas last year (from your recommendation) and I've been having a blast all year. You've really helped me dive into Audiophile equipment and it's been a blast. Hell, I'm watching this video in my DT 770s, which are by far the best PC headphones I've ever owned.
I learned about the BTR5 from you, and that led me to the Qudelix 5k bluetooth DAC. I picked one up and have been very VERY happy with it. Can't compare directly but if you don't need a screen the qudelix is clutch. Also got some KBears on your reccco, and also Happy Ears plugs to sleep with. I really owe you big time. You have a friend in me. Merry Chrysler from Michugan my m8. ♡♡♡
Made in South Korea as well instead of China.. And its app and features leave the rest behind.. They are allways adding extra features in the software..
They updated the firmware to support 20 band parametric EQ and 10 band L/R independent EQ just the other day, among other additions. I love that they add user requested features to this thing. It's definitely the best $110 I've ever spent on audio.
My two favorite features of it are that it has an app that FLASHES FIRMWARE so that you don't have to have it connected to your phone all the time, and that it's not made in China (it's from Busan, South Korea). It's my portable and desktop dac/amp and drives any headphones I've thrown at it so far. The owner is very nice 10/10 device I would buy it over anything else.
I thought the BTR5 was great until I got the 5K. The app is amazing with all of the deep features, and the EQ function is one of the best out there. And it’s smaller than the BTR5 and weighs nothing!
Merry Dankmas and a memey New Year! (Also it's pretty reassuring that even people who've done a thing for years forget the absolute basics from time to time, cause lord knows I do the same for things I've done weekly for decades.) Also now that I've watched what the bonus patreon video is... GDI I think it's time I spent that dollar and binge, that thing is too damn ridiculous to pass on.
Got a btr5 a while back because of you. It's been my daily all in one solution to portable audio and noisy motherboard outputs for well over a year and still going strong.
Been a great year for DACs. I got to review a few this year for Android Police, and the ifi GO Bar was hands down my favorite. That thing was so sweet, and I wish I could have gotten my hands on the gold-plated version, since it apparently has different guts in it
The only issue with the GO Bar is that it's a QC nightmare. If you run it at high power often, it'll die and have to be replaced by iFi. Someone in a chat I'm in is on their 4th unit.
i love that Fiio makes those bluetooth adapter ear hooks for IEMs too. im just about to pick myself up a pair and some KBear IEMs. they're perfect for my use case and i can continuously upgrade as i see fit by just swapping out the IEMs themselves.
The BTR5 is the interface between my Pixel phone and my custom car stereo set up. It is better than all but the most expensive aftermarket hu's available and definitely better than any factory hu.
Buddy of mine plugs his BTR5 into one of those AUX/Cassette inserts for car tape decks to play music in his 280ZX it's really fun at car meets having 80s style synth-wave tracks playing from a 1980s car.
Hey Dank, don't beat yourself up about the audio issues! Small mistakes happen all the times, and I'll take a slight blip in audio quality as long as it means I get to watch your video this week. Keep killing it man.
I started using Aussie abbreviations more often and even invented my own thanks to him. I also started calling HP as heichpee. He truly is influential, in a fun way

You made me buy the BTR5, I just received it yesterday and it absolutely defines the word Nugget. It is mind botteling how much power that tiny little thing has. I have a btr5 and I need to have charging on for the dac to work and not die. You say if the battery eventually dies you can just plug it in. I’m worried if the battery dies it’ll completely die. I have no idea what the future holds… other than that love it to bits.
I've had my BTR5 for about a year now and I love it. Had no idea it contained a microphone at all lol
I got the Meze Empyreum's thanks to this channel, and paired it with the BTR7 when it came out. It sounds like a dream, especially with my PC and Switch. Thanks for getting me started on this fun audio journey.
bro's swimming in big bucks 👀👀
Merry Chrysler to you too Dank! I only found your channel this year, but now, watching your newest video is one of the first things I do every Friday morning. Seriously, this is my favourite channel I've found this year!
I like how Dank described vaping in the mic tests
This episode is basically one big mic test if you think about it
true ngl
I got a BTR5 for christmas last year (from your recommendation) and I've been having a blast all year. You've really helped me dive into Audiophile equipment and it's been a blast. Hell, I'm watching this video in my DT 770s, which are by far the best PC headphones I've ever owned.
I also bought the btr5 and some dt 770s. Which ones did you get the 32 the 80 or the 250 ohm ones
@@Fallen_Family 80
And merry Chrysler to you too, Mr Pods!:)
3:14 No, that would be the job of the DAC (digital to analog converter). The amplifier takes the music and makes it louder.
@DankPods you should try the Qudelix 5k, I've had it for about a year and a half, and I love it. PEQ over usbC and LDAC is awesome.
Made in South Korea as well instead of China..
And its app and features leave the rest behind..
They are allways adding extra features in the software..
Best thing about the Qudelix is the BUILT IN CLIP
Q 5k really leaves the competition behind.
So sad he missed it entirely. It’s probably cheaper than the Fiionugget as well
Yeah, the Qudelix easily beats everything at its price point and a lot of stuff that's well above it, too. Just awesome little devices.
Your content literally makes my day every single Thursday. Thank you, you have no idea how much your brighten my life!
the electrical engineer name for "balanced output" is differential pairs
also used to eliminate noise in, usually, data transmission
A bit sad you missed the best of the bunch Qudelix 5K
They updated the firmware to support 20 band parametric EQ and 10 band L/R independent EQ just the other day, among other additions. I love that they add user requested features to this thing. It's definitely the best $110 I've ever spent on audio.
It really does trump everything. A little powerhouse. So many features packed in. Just having the EQ elevates it instantly.
Fr, built-in EQ is a game changer, especially for iOS users
My two favorite features of it are that it has an app that FLASHES FIRMWARE so that you don't have to have it connected to your phone all the time, and that it's not made in China (it's from Busan, South Korea). It's my portable and desktop dac/amp and drives any headphones I've thrown at it so far. The owner is very nice 10/10 device I would buy it over anything else.
I thought the BTR5 was great until I got the 5K. The app is amazing with all of the deep features, and the EQ function is one of the best out there. And it’s smaller than the BTR5 and weighs nothing!
New dankpods video ! Just the thing i needed ! :)
I can imagine a Dunkpods statue for the DAC, "The nuggets that embiggens us all"
Merry Dankmas and a memey New Year! (Also it's pretty reassuring that even people who've done a thing for years forget the absolute basics from time to time, cause lord knows I do the same for things I've done weekly for decades.)
Also now that I've watched what the bonus patreon video is... GDI I think it's time I spent that dollar and binge, that thing is too damn ridiculous to pass on.
Always stoked to see a dankpods upload, makes my day :)
"I swear I'm working on a Dankmus track"
This is the greatest thing you've ever said.

music to my ears
i love that Fiio makes those bluetooth adapter ear hooks for IEMs too. im just about to pick myself up a pair and some KBear IEMs. they're perfect for my use case and i can continuously upgrade as i see fit by just swapping out the IEMs themselves.
@@SUPRAMIKE18 that's a great bridging of decades in one vehicle.
@@SUPRAMIKE18 Did that in my -91 Corolla (with a btr3k) before I got a minidisc HU lol
I like the gpu comparison, It'll be super useful when someone asks what a dac is and I don't feel like explaining lol
Don’t worry about the microphone. Do you even understand why we’re here ? We like 2 things, audio stuff, and janky jankiness
I run a BTR5 and Sennheiser HD560s for both computer and travel and I love it, it is my first audiophile setup and I’m super excited to expand!
Hey Dank, don't beat yourself up about the audio issues! Small mistakes happen all the times, and I'll take a slight blip in audio quality as long as it means I get to watch your video this week. Keep killing it man.
I found a random set of batteries in a drawer, the brand? Eunicell. Now when I bump into stuff I go “uhh, my eunicell.” Thank you Wade.
I started using Aussie abbreviations more often and even invented my own thanks to him.
I also started calling HP as heichpee. He truly is influential, in a fun way
Lover my BTR 5 thanks to this channel. Gets plenty of use with my Senni 58X with the balance cable at home and now I also carry it with my new Dunu Titan S IEM when traveling to work.
I think the qudelix 5k is the best of all (very) small DACs but they are good too.
After you've shown the BTR-5 for the first time I went out and bought a BTR-3K for my Grado SR60e and those Headphones really sing now! Thanks Wade!
The little talks you do when you are testing the microphone never disappoint no matter the wacky idea
Dankpods, you have genuinely made my life better by your videos. I’ve watched your content for a few years now, and I haven’t ever gotten tired of it. I always get a rush of energy when I see a new video posted. On your other channels too. You really are a cool guy, so yeah thank you for doing this whole RUclips career. I imagine that other fans feel this way too.
0:27 Oh yeah, I loved those games!
It makes me smile to hear you geeking out about a whopping 240 milliwatts, when we just got done driving a tractor motor as a speaker and pumping in 50kW
8:52 the 7th grade bathroom has already caught on to it
I'm running a BTR3K and the ZX ZSN Pro X and it's been the best audio setup i've had so far. Even grabbed a balanced output cable
Definitely a sounds little bright, but not half bad 😉
For those who don't like amps like the Fiio BTR 7, I just use a usb c plug headphone and IEM cables
You made me buy the BTR5, I just received it yesterday and it absolutely defines the word Nugget. It is mind botteling how much power that tiny little thing has. Also I am very impressed with the buildquality and the simplicity of it even though it isn't very intuitive to operate (Menu wise)
Thanks for showing us this (also I believe that thing could blow up the one or two sets of Headphones)
That brings me to the Idea: Why not use a Fiio Device to try pop some dirty buds? 🤔
How did the glass stand up against time for you? I've had mine for nearly two years, countless drops against rocky and cement surfaces, yet not even a scratch so far for mine.
Thanks for all the laughs this year and the years before this one, please keep on makin' these great videos!
Keep up all your hard work 🎉
Thanks for all the Nugget videos this year, Merry Christmas everyone 🎄
ur videos are awesome mate. I look forward to watching ur videos
Not First!!!!
Ok when I posted it on my end it was first so I’ll fix it sorry
what an exquisite discussion
Lol probably only nice discussion on YT
LOL agreed, I love the little exposition stories DP gives when he's testing a recording. LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣
AAHHAHHHHH thank you so much perfect timing foe this video I've been looking for something like these and the btr 5 is exactly what I was looking for and it's in my budget thank you dank poddssss
I love your stuff, man. Also show more of frank.
Frank is usually just a jpeg image, which is probably why she don't get much screen time.
It is always nice when she temporarily evolves into a gif tho.
@@rashira9610 that's fair.
2 days ago i got an idea what dac i should buy.
And now you pulled out with this video.
Perfect
Man how does this guy come up with those mic test stories can't stop laughing 😂
Just wanted to say thanks. Bought a btr5 on your recommendation. An immediate improvement for music and movies with my bose headphones. Then bought 2nd hand hd560s headphones again on your recommendations (both model and 2nd hand), another great improvement. Then.. forked out on a balanced lead because you told of the extra power from the btr5 making a difference, another improvement. Even std spotify via my smart tv sounds good. Thanks for helping this non audiofile understand some simple steps to a much better listening experience.
Oh... My... God... yooouuuu actually made me buy something.. i've benn watching your odler vids and you showed the KZs and i bought the KZ EDX pros and i really enjoy them. If it wasnt for you i'd probably still be using cheap dirtybuds
