This was originally telecast as part of the series "EYE WTINESS", on February 26, 1948....and is probably the earliest complete network TV program to be preserved via kinescope.
Very early Television, mid-20th century( well almost,late 1940's)a fabulous early program explaining to first ever tv viewers of the time how television works.this is brilliant!
This program features some short film footage of pictures on early electronic televisions, of a woman smoking a cigarette, in 1932, and in 1935.
1948, not '46. Kinescopes from '46 basically don't exist and the few from '47 are still mostly under lock and key.
I’ve seen the 1947 kinescopes on RUclips. Anything before 1946 only exists in audio form generally. At the LOC Sonic archive last week, I listed to many 1939-1946 TV programs in audio forms such as the Television Ball of the Goddard Neighborhood Center (December 14, 1939), WJZ - Twentieth Anniversary Program (October 10, 1941), Air Raid Wardens Basic Course Lesson #3 (June 1, 1942), a sign on/sign off for WNBT from December 1, 1943, several episodes of NBC Television Newsreel from 1945, and several episodes of the first big budget variety show Hourglass from 1946.
This was 1948, not 1946.
Maybe a typo.
That's the other thing. The test pattern shown at the start was copyrighted 1947. (According to 1974 copyright renewals, the mechanical drawing of the TP was by an NBC employee, Peter G. House [1908-1992].)
