UPDATE: A lot of people mentioning that you can use Warrior of the West's Bow to gain extra life which contributes to the tankiness. I should have included this for build purposes, but I don't personally run it because I always use Rifle/Cannon. You can also run a tanki set bonus with your secondary weapon, but another thing I forgot to mention is I run Hatchets on secondary for the self buff ability it has called "All Ablaze".

Gameplay is clean and I really respect how you're not relying on gimmicks, just solid mastery of mechanics, execution, and how that synergizes with the build. You make real good use of Sign of the Cross. I struggle with the fluidity of the inputs since it seems to target unlock and turn my character around when I input "R1+O" to sheathe and then again to launch Sign of the Cross. Any tips on how to master the button execution for SotC? Also... I'd love to see what you could do with Axe.
The biggest tip I can give for SotC, is to think of it as a Ki Pulse. I never sheath and SotC as two separate animations. SotC automatically sheaths as part of the animation. So I always attack, and at perfect Ki Pulse time, I hit SotC which both acts as a Ki Pulse (because you're pressing R1) and transitions directly into SotC. You can also chain SotC using this Ki-Pulse method.
Just jumped into the world of "Nioh" on part 2 so I'm beyond nooby. I'm liking the dual blades but don't know what route to take on stats and this video helped a lot even though I'm still in early game.

I am currently running a poison variant of this. Master Swordsman Power dual swords and the gloves because they are stacked with tempering. Oni Shibata hatchets for the extra health. It works quite well.
Iv been running a variation of this build. 2 piece oni shibata and 5 piece master swordsman. Extration talisman to proc tengen and my shuten doji soul core which gives me defence on amrita absorbtion. Add that with the dual sword mystic art and i can never die as long as im attacking. BUT i hope we can get some better dps spirits in dlc cause i cant stand staying in high stance and not a fan of the phantom burst counter. Need me a feral Kato 😂
You could run 4 pieces Master Swordman power - 40 atk on Dual + 15% sign of the cross damage. (3 pieces of Saika’s yata 5% plus melee damage and 2 pieces of Golden boy you will have 15% plus lighting attack)
Yes I saw other people running this like Cowboy, but I wanted to try and remake my Nioh 1 immortal swordsman build as close as possible. Also this build is tankier than the Master Swordsman. The way you mentioned is good and places more emphasis on damage. So both good builds, just one is tankier, one is more offensive.
Your Immortal Swordsman build video for Nioh 1 changed how I looked at the game and gave me another 200 or so hours with the game. Can't wait until end game to get started on this one. Which weapon/build style did you use to get through new game on the first play through?

I thought I mentioned it, but for a regular build, you want to add skill modifiers from Samurai that give a damage boost based on your main stat. So for Dual Swords, Skill (or whatever you've set your swords to scale with). If you were playing a 1-shot build, you'd probably use Raging Strike from shiftling, that gives 20% increase to damage but drains your health. For an anima spam build, Imperious Strike from Shiftling Tree. Tbh, it's one of the few aspects of Nioh that's pretty self explanatory, as the skills tell you exactly what they do, and you can determine if they are applicable to your type of build.

Wait, Amrita Gauge bonuses of the same kind *do* stack? Well... now I know what I'm rerolling into every armor piece. Let's be honest... Yokai Shift is total ass anyway.
You can run whatever you want for your secondary, but I run hatchets for an added dynamic in range playstyle, and these hatchets specifically alongside Oni Shibata Gauntlets for damage reduction whilst attacking (set bonus)
Hey Xeno what armor set do you think I should be running? I am a sword/duelsword build mostly always use my sword? Currently lvl 74 in first game and im using master swordman set which gives the the triumph of tranquilty but its a light armor set. I would think using sword I should be atleast using medium armor set? Any advice my stats right now are con-14, heart-41, courage 10, stam 10, str 10, 16 skill, dex 7, magic 9. I am mostly using a typical play style like sign of the cross, and all the mid stance parries, trying to get my sloth tailsman up, carnage, weakness. Master Swordsman is decent if you main Duals, but if you main single, but don't want light armor, you have a few options. Hyuga Director set is interesting if you start your encounters with any offensive omyo ability, and use the skill Flowing Shadow. You can also mix sets together if you have Yasakani Magatama. I'm making a single katana build after my next video, so in a few days.
@@mattbaker8489 if you want medium for sword Kingo is always a safe set. Sword thrives on backstab damage and kingo gives you 15% back damage. Either use low stance and the skill swift step to get behind or use Flowing Shadow then ki pulse into iai quickdraw

Honestly as cheese as it is do the kunia shuriken build until you get to ng+. Use that to cheese every single boss and run quickly to ng+ cause that's when the game really starts

The bow would be good (but I don't run bow) and the Ravenwing set bonus has changed in Nioh 2. But I probably should have put the bow for the sake of the build.
Poison builds are the most simple to build for. Literally just take snake coil helmet with any armor set you want. Any weapon. Imbue it with poison, stack poison accumulation and melee damage to poisoned enemies. Take Snake soul core and any other cores that are modified by poison. If you really wanna go all out you can take snake spirit too but it's not necessary, focus on things that boost your weapon and playstyle.
You'll have to run with a C agility rating. You can wear the Tatenashi armor by farming The Fallen Star quest in shadow region. You won't have enough points to get B agility rating and get high points on Skill attribute. You could also just try running medium armor, the Yokai Annihilator is a decent set bonus until mid game (I show how to get this in my Shaman Shinobi build). Honestly you'll be okay till NG+, its a good time to experiment with different things anyway

ya i felt the same way. Every set feels nerfed beyond control. its still a fun game and it does feel better in NG+ when items at lvl 160 start to be normal
The Tatenashi armor and smithing text, you can farm from the quest "The Fallen Star" in the shadow region. I think I got the weapon from farming Tokichiro in The Two Faces of Hospitality mission in Twilight region, but not sure. I know i was farming him a lot for the Dual Sword hidden skills

Personally don't like heavy armor but this is a good build and amazing gameplay.

You can, but you'll want to be near level 200 ideally due to the amount of stats required in strength and stamina to achieve B agility rating

Same guy with the Tonfa secondary question, it's cool if I use the katana as the secondary. Having 3 swords couldn't hurt right?

You could also equip Warrior of the West Bow for some more 200 something health.
You should have used Swallowtail Dual swords and Rifle for Damage taken -3% for more Immortality
And WotW Bow for Life increase
