What began as a Quarter Hunt for Silver, 2019 W's and any Error or Variety coins turned into a first ever find for me (for quarters at least)!
I never get much luck when I coin roll hunt quarters... Yet, I still love the anticipation of opening those orange striped rolls and looking for silver. I have put off hunting quarters often (although I do look through one box per week) since my luck with them is terrible... but figured I stay focused on my quest for more silver and some more 2019 W Quarters.
In this video, I'll open up 6 boxes of quarters from different bank branches including Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of America in hopes of finding a 2019 W Quarter or at the least, landing another Silver Quarter or error/variety quarter of 2019.
I ended up finding more than I could have hoped for!

Nice silver , W's, and gold Georgia quarter. The gold quarter is 24k gold plated. A third party company did the 50 states and 6 territories in gold, silver, and in platinum plating.
I feel bad for you rob. I usually get 3-8 silvers quarters a box where i live. Picked one up on Thursday that had 30 silvers in it 🤯
Tyler Hutton Right on. I researched after finding a Kansas gold plated quarter. They were not plated at the mint. I read they were done as souvenirs, keepsakes & late night tv infomercial invest in gold garbage. Apparently there isn’t enough gold on them to be worth the cost of melting them down. Made for a great video title though.

I always like seeing the 60's and 70's quarters even though they're not silver. The deep cameo combined with that design makes them some of my favorite coins.

Seeing Silver in an American Roll is Like spotting a Unicorn these days! Those gold-plated Coins are so cool I have found similar coins that could be plated or chemically damaged hard to tell sometimes but that quarter is definitely intriguing!

Found myself a gold plate quarter and in the same box, a 64! Silver and gold is a beautiful thing to hold in one hand!
It same from a us mint gold proof set. Someone for some reason decided to open the case and cash them in. There was 5 in the 1999 set. I had one of these sets a while back. I still got my colored quarters😊
Ended up finding one of the War in the Pacific W mint quarters in loose change, and a severely capped die penny out of a roll, within a few min of each other at work this week. First W quarter for me.

Hey Rob. I was hunting a box of pennies with my dad and we found our first ever Indian Head penny. It was hard to get a date from it. It was really damaged. I also have started rolling up some of my copper pennies. So far I have 56 and a half rolls of pennies.

I have two silver quarters; both 1942. I got them as change when I was driving big trucks. It's amazing how "ting" of silver will draw the attention of everyone in the store. Got my heart racing each time. ;-)

I had a quarter that I used to keep as my lucky coin when I was younger. It was golden but had the head altered into a sort of rainbow color. One day it just disappeared (my guess is that one of my sisters friends took it) and I've always regretted that I never found out what type of quarter it was so I could try and get a new one.

War in the pacific quarters are extremely abundant here in California. Bought some food from in n out and I asked for all change in quarters and 90% of the quarters were brand new shiny war in the pacific quarters. I’ll check now for the W

Rob, I've been hunting quarters for the past three weeks (1 box per day) and have yet to find silver. On the other hand, like you I've found some nice coins to keep. However, I've amass a nice collection of AMP quarters most from boxes that had 99% 2019. In contrast, last night I received a heavily circulated box of quarters, which had 17 brand new AMP's. Don't give up on quarters your sentence may be rewarding. Love your videos!

In 1980 I was working at Kodak. At that time Kodak had their own Bank ESL Eastman Savings and Loan. I got a brand new 1980 quarter from a bank roll and you can hardly read the date and motto.
I saved it and figured the die got full of grease or something that gave it a very weak strike look. Wonder it it has any value? Also got a blank penny planchet in a penny roll.
It's always a good idea to keep some nice examples of MD and DDD. It gives you something to compare to and helps you to learn the differences.

Someone took a regular quarter and gold plated it. There are also places where you can buy them, but they aren't minted gold.

There was infomercials from the late 90s to early 2000's that advertised gold plated 50 state quarters, it was a company taking quarters and putting around a .0003 inch thick layer of gold on them, to coin collectors they are considered damaged coins and since they were not issued by the US mint they are considered currency that has been defaced and tampered with so using them could result in a criminal charges similar to using counterfeit money, but coin dealers will pay a little extra because they have the gold on them, around 35 to 50 cents per coin
I threw a couple of those gold plated quarters back into circulation, got them from one of those grab bags on eBay when I first started
If I read this right, you‘ve searched 6 boxes with 500$ each, so 12000 coins in total. In total you found one silver coin and a very nice gold plated coin.
Therefore the odds are very low on finding a good coin.
I always complained about not being able to find any silver in Switzerland, but I guess it is because the odds are very low as well. I guess it is just equally hard to find silver in both America and Switzerland.
Then again, what are the odds of finding old coins when hunting dimes?
In Switzerland, searching through 500 coins of „10 Rappen“ coins often yields around 5 - 10 coins from 1953 and older, which means a 1 - 2% success rate. Is that better or worse than in America?
Then again, those coins I find aren‘t made of silver. Still, they can be very old, like 1894 and 1896 which I found this year.

I work as a bartender (very easy way to make good finds without having to go to the bank!! 😂). There was a gold plated quarter in one of the quarter rolls I opened up late last year. I've found some great stuff at work, my coworkers all laugh at me when I count down the register and check every bill and quarter carefully as I count.... But i don't care 😂

My last quarter box search gave me a roll that was shorted a quarter. But as these were customer wrapped, this same roll with only 39 quarters was all SILVER!!!
I'm guessing that the pink painted one is for a video game parlor and when you got quarters, you got more for finding that one.
I used to hit a game parlor and they painted it blue....

One of the Waco Wells Fargo banks provided me with a 1909 VDB when I was penny roll hunting and 31 pieces of silver in just a single box. He probably went to the bad one right off the freeway.

I found my first War in The Pacific West Point quarter at my job giving tours to old historic houses.
Someone bought a pack of cards and it amounted to $7.57 and what do ya know! They paid with quarters!

Hi Rob! Nice gold plated quarter! American memorial Park quarter is my favorite ATB quarter, but I have yet to find a w mint mark.
I usually wear gloves when hunting. Cleaner fingers at the end plus I'll never damage a coin with my finger oils. Nice that you finally found silver.
You're not damaging a circulated coin with the dirt on your fingers you have far to little faith and the stability of silver gold zinc and copper
@@davidmcguire6043 Mostly that's correct, but in the case of a nice coin I might cause damage. Gloves are cheap enough.

What do you do with mutilated coins? You mentioned “retiring”. Do you just throw them away? I tried saving them to dispose at the bank but they wouldn’t take them…,

does your gold dealer have to scratch the coin to test it? I have some gold coming that I'd like to get tested but I don't have a tester and I don't want to harm the coin

And it was a Brink’s box that won! Lol. I remember the sorting machines would actually reject the gold plated coins from time to time and the guy who did the sorting had a shelf full of them.
I really want to get into this, I loved when somebody would spend their silver quarters at a drug store I used to work for and I would trade my own change for them.

I found a 1956 silver quarter in the vending machine at my job. I was about to put it back into the vending machine when I just happened to turn it on its side and look at it and I didn't see any brown I knew I had silver! Put it in my pocket took it home and put it in the coin holder still have it.
