    I'm sorry but Cara was a distraction from this video. This was more about her experience than it was about the eclipse itself. She ignored Terry's suggestion for a countdown (which would have made the experience cooler) and then couldn't get over her own excitement with the eclipse. The video was outstanding (for someone who hasn't seen much of anything on the subject) but she did little to explain some of the more interesting aspects of the eclipse (I had to research the web to confirm that I was indeed seeing solar flares or solar prominences).

    It got dark in Illinois, I was right outside the path of the solar eclipse. It was so strange cause it was like it was turning night all the street lights were turning on, all of the night time animals were out.

    • @watsisname
      @watsisname 6 лет назад

      That's awesome to get the animals reacting to it. Very close to totality it gets real eerie. But if you can, I suggest trying to catch the next one (in 2024) inside of totality, and check out the difference it makes there. I think you'll be amazed. :)

    While we were all looking up, I took a few seconds and looked down.... there were around twenty tiny ants, going around in circles to each other, flies landed and even when batted away would not take flight, and Small flying insects where all landing.
    Also saw no birds in flight or song. My mini schnauzer, was losing it.

  • @bozzy446
    @bozzy446 7 лет назад +2

    I was just north of the path of totality and it didn't go completely dark but it did get noticeably dimmer and colder. I couldn't see it through my makeshift box but I did use a welding mask and that was when I could see it.

      In (mostly) seriousness, you can make use of your special glasses between eclipses. Kids can keep track of sun spot activity over months and years as a neat long term science project.
      You can also combine them with carefully sculpted tinfoil to make a poor man's arch welding mask.
