Kelly Surprises Woman Feeding Homeless On Skid Row

One night, Jackie Norvell took a wrong turn into Skid Row after driving home from a Lakers game. She was heartbroken by the number of people in need and decided to take action. She then started Brown Bag Lady, an organization that provides food and resources for the homeless people of Los Angeles. Kelly chats with Jackie to hear her story and delivers her a very special gift.

I was blessed to help brown bag lady one weekend. First you go to a meeting place and everyone is working their tails off getting everything ready for the road. We all follow the van in our own cars and you end up on skid row. It doesn’t smell very nice. The people live in tents and urinate on the ground. When the homeless folks see the van they know it’s time to get nourished. Not just with good food but with love. They know Jackie truly loves them. She brings a couple barbers, a van full of clothing, shoes and sleeping bags, tents, hygiene products. The first person who spoke to me was a lady with blood running down her legs. She was hollering to ask Jackie for some tampons and bring them over to her tent. At that point I was no longer afraid ... I knew they loved Jackie like family. I could not get over all of the work it took to keep everyone moving and I was so impressed with the love and respect everyone had for Jackie and anyone she brought to the street.
