It is great news to hear that indian navy is going to procure 4 tapas drones. These tapas drones may have lesser capabilities than mq-9 but they have various advantages 1) indigenously designed and manufactured 2) lower cost than foreign drones 3 ) due to lower cost than foreign drones higher expendabiblity (raison detr'e of any drones) 4) can procure in larger numbers where quantity has its own quality. 5) can become a foundation for higher capabilities drones in the future.

I guess now a different process should be taken where Indian developed tech gets higher priority for jets and drones. And quality can be maintained by always keeping the foreign manufacturers as baseline.
Why do arm forces fail to understand that during a war time scenario, only indigenous equipment can be repaired/replaced very quickly as compared to a fully imported/assembled one, even though it's inferior, specially when we're talking against china Even during ww2 American tech was inferior to others but they had the industry to support them
I believe that there should be a clear process for procuring equipment, whether or not they meet our initial requirements in the first phase. Let's refer to this initial phase as the beta version, where it's mandatory to place orders for a specified number of units. After that, the armed forces should provide feedback to DRDO about the equipment, which will then allow us to produce the final product in less time. I think implementing this model will ensure that we have a proper procurement procedure. What do you think about this approach?
@@mrahulkeya8142 well you can say that , i mentioned this because I had seen how long the military waits to induct equipment into its arsenal until and unless its of good quality and meet their demands .Although its a good approach but what happens is that most of the project got delayed and the final product by the time you receive will become obsolete and you need to again re order . But ya the quality of our equipment is definitely top class among its variety but we got it after a long process of waiting so if we can shorten this time frame then ya its good .
1) How crucial is this 24 hours requirement? 2) Also, from IA and IAF's point of view, how easy or how difficult would it be to change that specification? it will definitely affect their war scenarios. 3) If they go for such change, how long should it take for them to complete the due process? Subodh bhai, ispe ek short video ban sakti hain?
for the price of a foreign drone, 3 or 4 Tapas could be launched with some time lapse between each launch. In theory, it would have unlimited endurance with craft returning being refuelled and relaunched. 24 hours only makes sense if there is a need to fly a great distance away from land rather than continuous air patrol of a region.

Imagine this scenario: India is developing a Tri-Service Theatre Command. However, while the Navy finds the Tapas drone capable, the Army and Air Force do not. How will the integration handle a system that has been rejected by two components but is still in service and widely used? Especially considering that the Theatre Command requires personnel training on this system, even though the other services are not using it.
Still “banaayaa jaa rahaa hai?” When we can hear it is made and under production? Any ways Indian Navy is truly more patriotic in accepting Indigenous equipment than other uniformed groups. No doubt about it💐💐💐🙏🙏🙏
Only four TAPAS drones were ordered, apparently just to appease some higher-ups. Meanwhile, the Indian Navy, tasked with guarding an immense maritime boundary, is left with a paltry four drones. It's almost as if they thought, "Why equip the entire navy when you can just pretend to?" One can't help but marvel at the genius strategy of giving the navy a mere token gesture to protect vast seas.
they have to test it and provide feedback so it can be improved upon. for that 4 drones are sufficient for now. at the very least, it keeps the program going and hopefully there is better management running it this time.
