Lana Del Rey - West Coast (Lyrics)
Down on the West coast, they got a sayin'
"If you're not drinkin', then you're not playin'"
But you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
Down on the West coast, I get this feeling like
It all could happen, that's why I'm leaving
You for the moment, you for the moment
Boy Blue, yeah, you
You're falling hard, I push away, I'm feelin' hot to the touch
You say you miss me and I wanna say I miss you so much
But something keeps me really quiet, I'm alive, I'm a lush
Your love, your love, my love
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y cubano como yo, la-la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
I'm in love (I'm in love)
I'm in love (I'm in love)
(Mic-check)
(One, two)
(Two, two)
(Get it, girl)
Down on the West coast, they got their icons
Their silver starlets, their Queens of Saigons
And you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
Down on the West coast, they love their movies
Their golden gods and Rock 'n' Roll groupies
And you've got the music
You've got the music in you, don't you?
You push it hard, I pull away, I'm feeling hotter than fire
I guess that no one ever really made me feel that much higher
Te deseo, cariño, boy, it's you I desire
Your love, your love, my love
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y cubano como yo, la-la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
I can see my baby swinging
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swaying
He's crazy y cubano como yo, la-la
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in love
I'm in love
I'm in love
This song is very underrated. The transition between the chorus and the verse is the best I've ever heard. It literally makes you high.
YES that’s what I’ve always been saying
EXACTLY
Uh-huh. You hit the nail right on the head.
That's exactly what I think, each time I listen to it I feel the same strong energy, it never fades, even when I've already listen to this like a million times. This is fucking lit.
Whats underrated are all the knaye songs youtube caps at 10m viess

This Song wasn't even nominated for a Grammy. Could have won the Grammy for its sheer uniqueness. It should have been at least the top contender.
That's how you know it's rigged. This song is the actual embodiment of art and should have won every award it was qualified for.
I think she said in a speech that she didn't know how to submit her music for the grammy nomination!
It won a Grammy
But the academy was too dumb to not give it
She didn't thank Beyoncé
Now your high....
This isn’t a song, it’s an experience! The tempo switchups, her vocals and the instrumentation….heavenly
YAAASS!!! SO ADDICTING
Absolutely!!!
The instrumentation is the main reason Im so addicted to this song. Something about that opening riff. Then at around 1:14, the instrumentation changes to what I immediately picked up as either a sample or an interpolation of “And I Love Her” by the Beatles. Then goes back to its original instrumentation. I really like that a lot.
The guiter part is very much similar to "and i love her" by the Beatles
Seriously ❤
The way it shifts from that bluesy riff into that dreamy chorus and back again is heavenly....just gives me goosebumps every time 💗
yep especially when i first listened to the song and i wasn't expecting it
This! Finally a comment that goes beyond the Oh my god shes beautiful stuff
This song, in my opinion, is the bright star of alla LDR's discography, I love it!..

Every song is hey!
It's absolutely criminal how this woman hasn't been awarded a Grammy yet. It really highlights how the recording academy doesn't actually award based on artistic excellence, they only award based on a musician's marketability and popularity that year. You'll only win if you've reached a certain level of radio success and generated a lot of money for the industry. The fact that Cardi B won a Grammy before Lana Del Rey is all the proof you need.
I thought that was common, obvious knowledge. Money is all America believes in.
Grammy is a joke.
No one needs that shit

You are stupid.... Cardi B won a Grammy for the BEST RAP ALBUM of the year.... Now tell me can you compare cardi and Lana? They're running two different races....

I literally hate to see in every one of her videos people asking why she doesn't have a grammy? Having a grammy isn't the big deal, she's a genius.
yes
Finally someone understands this
it's sad to imagine that for some artists the main goal to record albums is to get grammys.
@Boi Chaoz Lana isn’t a celebrity. She doesn’t even want to be a celebrity lol. One of the reasons why she doesn’t care about having a Grammy. And wdym proof? The proof is her music. It’s like a warm hug or first kiss :)
Awards are fickle; Lana’s fans are not. I agree. Besides, it’s all timing. If Billie Eilish didn’t have the album that she had at the exact same time as Norman Rockwell, Lana would have won for that. That’s why again, awards are silly.
I would give everything I have just to hear this song again like the first time.

honestly, the 'overly gay' kid in my class lets everyone constantly know he listens to her (to the point where it's more than just annoying), which was indirectly/subconciously the reason i never checked her out, but since i've accidentally listened to one of her songs i can't stop. she genuinely makes good music

I don't understand how Lana's videos aren't getting more hits??
I guess. I can understand her not wanting the extreme fame and paps but it's a crime for this music to not reach more people! It's gold right?!
Hmmmmm true! I would hate for her to go mainstream though. Like yes for 2-3 songs on the album so it gets massive, but not the whole album, think I would cry!! *****

The first time I heard Lana was at 10, someday in 2012 my mother turned on the radio and Blue Jeans was playing, I didn't understand a lot about of music, but I love what I was hearing, so I immediately turn on my computer to search "Lana del Rey" and find Born to Die. I hope Lana writes more songs like this and 13 Beaches. There aren't many artists today that can write and sing like this.
This is one of the most intelligents videos I've ever seen from an artist. I love analysing videos like that, and Lana certainly nailed it... I personally see herself shared in 2 Lana's: The one that follows love and the one that follows power.
When she starts singing until the chorus, it looks like the "happy lana", having fun in simple places with the man she loves.
When it hits the chorus, you see her smoking cigarretes with this old guy she clearly doesn't love. You see the changes in her voice. She sings beautifully, but she seems sorrow, unhappy, sad. And when the chorus ends, she comes back to be the happy lana.
By the end of the song, she is consumed by fire. It is like she chose to lose her soul to the unhappy Lana, who's losing herself to the fires, and while that happens, her soul dances among power and her pride. Like she's not regretted.
It's BRILLIANT. If you read this, pleaaaaaaaase watch the video with that in mind and comment here what you think!
I had to get high on weed to understand that. Lana is a Genius!!!!!!!

Vincent Escolano wrong lol she only used it on born to die she even said this reverb isn't the same as autotune neither are layered vocals
That transition puts you in a dream like state it's actually addicting.
It truly is!☘🎼
Yessss like sex, drugs etc it’s the same effecttt
This song makes me feel high without any drug, just music... ❤️
So addictive 😭✨
She looks insanely beautiful here
EVERYWHERE
Fr almost turned me straight
Eventho the vid is black and white.. unbelievable 🥺💕
as always
I honestly think she’s the most beautiful woman in music there has ever been.
This song is more aesthetic than the West Coast itself.
as if you have been to the west coast shut up
No hablo tacataca
@@naomimaldinado9930 dice q esa cancion es mas aestetik (o como se escriba) que el propio west coast
this
Yaaaaaaaas
west coast isn't just a song it's literally an aesthetic
@mpcCgqjF why are you here then?
*It makes you feel like you’re the main character.*
@@yourlostacecard omg yes

Después de una larga deliberación, para mí, esta es la mejor canción de Lana de Rey.
Her vocal performance is haunting, eerie and depressing yet poetic
what a beautiful description!
Lana's voice is otherworldly. It makes you feel things you didn't know you could feel
So fucking trueee!! Its PASSION of something which even idk 😭🥹😂🤌🏻🤷 she takes you to another world!! 😍❤️💫🥹
This song changed my life,
It is my current status
frr this was one of the first songs i heard from her and that’s when i knew it was time to stan
and then she literally changed my life-
same i heard it on the radio back in 2014 and i was like >>ooooook i will from now on devote my life to this woman
@Luna - for the better
Old but gold.
God had a special interest in creating Lana. There's no one like her
She corrected gods mistake by doing plastic surgery
more like her surgeon did.
Ananya Kesan God does not create anything evil, only the devil does, and she chose that path
you should hear what she said about him lol i fucking love her
@@alokpro she was besutiful even before the the lip and nose thingy, so doesnt matter
Lana's haunting vocals make love and music feel like a dreamy escape.
You literally wrote what i was thinking
Another amazing aspect of Lana is that she cretes her own melodies and sounds. She’s her own producer. This song literally only has one sample piece which is a few chords that create the transition riff in the melody switch. Its from And I love Her by the Beatles. Lana is truly the most influential and substantial artist of our time. She deserves so much more credit
Really
Fact ❤
I never realised!!! 🤯
She deserves a lot of credit for being a songwriter, but don't forget Rick Nowels was her long-time collaborator and helped her craft and develop melodies out of her writing. Also, Dan Auerbach is the producer of this album so a lot of credit goes to him. Let's also not discount her other collaborators like Dan Heath and Barrie James O'Neal who all helped bring her vision for this album to life. That said, she is absolutely one of the most influential artists of the current era and her sound is one of a kind and truly iconic.
I played this song while driving with my mom and she picked it up, except she heard it with Santo & Johnny Farina
One of her classic masterpieces❤
This is like relaxing in the beach summertime, but your mind is stuck in winter with all the sadness.
how dare u type out exactly what i was feeling
YESS
why
Frrrrrrrrrrrrr
Frr
i don’t know where this will lead, but i continue to love u despite the fact that u don’t need me.
love is an energy if you love her she can feel your love ❤
Ouch

Better love yourself and maybe find someone that's actually into you.
This song is so unique. She is such a talented artist.
I agree. A standout in this day and age.
This woman is just amazing, my favorite singer my God.
