It freaked me out! AN hardware is weirdly strong! I've tried to break a #10 AN3 and it was a tough booger. I've never heard of an engine falling off a Mooney so I'm going to fire that sucker up and fly!.
I think I am moving to AZ. I have watched some of your videos and I am amazed by how "the land provides" in AZ. You found the correct engine and the chain in your local habitat. How fortuitous!!
Very cool. When I was in the Navy I worked on SH-60B helicopters and one time I had to replace a main gear box due to corrosion. The main gear box is what the rotor head is connected to for those who are unsure. There are only 8 bolts that attach the main gear box to the airframe and I would say they are around 1/2" shaft diameter. Half inch bolts are good size but the helicopter fully loaded weighs 10 tons. The main gear box and rotor blades and other parts attached to the gear box may weigh 2-3 tons. Aircraft bolts are no joke when it comes to their strength.
out of all the people who probably shouldn't lay hand on a plane engine, you are the one I'd like to watch doing it anyways. just make sure you don't crash, we still need to know where the poop go.
I've never been this entertained watching someone hang an eninge in a small plane. LOL. Last plane I worked on was a piper cub and that was a long time ago. Cool video! Y'all are brilliant.
I’d trust you to do any and every other type of work. Plumbing, electrical, industrial high rise building construction, particle accelerator design and fabrication. But airplanes are absolutely no joke. Watching enough Jimmys World it’s clear every nut, bolt, washer, dot of oil, sideways glance and thought about the airplane requires documentation, registration, license and oversight. Guess what I’m trying to say is I hope you are certified (not the crazy kind) or have someone else who’s certified quintuple checking your work. Lots of people would be very sad if the bunker never got completed because you both went the way of Ritchie Valens and others. Love the airplane, happy to see someone I like working on airplanes after Jimmys World stopped doing it. Please stay safe.
What an awesome video! Herb I didn’t know you were a pilot and an A&P. Kudos! love the airplane. That engine is sweet. I used to fly. I had a 1975 Cessna Skyhawk. I have about 500 hours of PIC. Anytime you need a copilot let me know.
Using comedy and saying "all the things" about where he found the engine, nothing matters, it'll be fine.... all the while knowing "everything" matters when flying is hilarious. I loved "my mechanic told me it is a big deal" Herb, man of mystery with many facets. Keep up the great work... and dont fall out of the sky please.
That's cool that you can work on it yourself I thought somewhere I was reading that you had to be an AP to put on an engine like that a certified airplane be but it looks like it's going good like your channel
Would love to see more videos on the plane man! Also i have never watched that much wrestling in my life. The last 3 minutes was confusion for me. Cheers from Chicago

@@HerbOMatic the panel is tough pre 77 it is easier today to get newer equipment! The older models are still fast we had a mark21 that we put gap seals and it climbs nice

Whatever you guys do, we're along for the ride... whether we understand it or not. 😋
I know NOTHING about airplane stuff but im no dummy to mechanics, I would have never guessed that those four small bolts would be all that held the engine to the rest of the body...??? WOW!!!!
Been watching your videos on the bomb shelter since for a while now with my hubby on his channel. Glad to see you finally uploading again. The junk close ups were funny at first, but 3 in less than a minute is a little much though. Kinda cringe, but keep up the fun content. Love the parking lot brawl (wrestling). 😂
A little bit scary that the only thing holding on the engine are those tiny bolts. I guess they are grade 8 (similar to metric 10.9) so pretty strong bolts, but still scary. Fantastic video 👏, thumbs up 👍😎
15:30 You should replace the washers. They are not working anymore. Clean washers are better in keeping it clean so you don't have to wash your engine mount earlier than necessary.
Herbs a talented small plane mechanic, goes along with the bomb shelter, you know for when the Zombie apocalypse is here, can get out of dodge and dive bomb them zombies 😂 Your wife always looks so thrilled at your projects 🙄 but she’s a keeper, their not making many more reds these days 👍
Mooney M20F? I wont spoil it by revealing how painfully expensive a certified replacement O-360 engine is, I hope that goodwill gave you a deal. Cool project none the less.
I just liked the 969th one. Not sure what that sex move is. Maybe two people having fun while a third is asleep or left out? Keep the videos coming. They crack me up no matter what they are about. Elevators, vending machines, airplanes. It’s all hilarious!!!

I remember when wrestling on TV was fake. I'm glad that's been straightened out.

This channel just keeps getting better! Very cool project. I can't believe that entire engine is held on by four 1/4 inch bolts!
Remember, it pulls the airplane around by those bolts too!
Manual says 1/2 studs. Not referring to Herb Stud. Not ordinary bolts either. Hardened. Way stronger than ordinary bolts.
Now we know why he bought an airport.🎉

Herb if there was only a wrench that wasn't closed on the end, so you didn't have to file your good wrench.
