The profile on both the top of the weight where it pushes against the roller and the belly is the culprit in 2 of the same gram weights acting different. The belly profile is pretty self explanatory as it gives an indication of where the weight is distributed on the arm, but the profile on top is often overlooked.
Great topic. I love to see one that goes even deeper. I was hoping they could speak to the inspection of the different bushings and what's acceptable, shimming of the primary to the belt. ect.

Awesome! Now we need specific videos for primary maintenance and secondary maintenance. I am especially interested in exactly what wear items need to replaced in the clutches and at what mileage. I know the OEM's have their recommendations but we see failures before then. I have been dealing with an on and off throttle bog in my 19 850 Pro RMK. Tired of adjusting my belt deflection twice a ride.

I hear about this chalking of the clutches. I hear about this and how to tell if you are getting full shift rate and performance from the clutches. Also how to adjust if you are not obtaining the full shift rate.

Hey guys, when I was kid our Dad bought us a 1970 skidoo Olympic with 12hp Rotax , 35mph top speed. The clutch would engage right off an idle, so no power for any kind of a hole shot. Maybe with modern components, and higher final drive in the chain case we could have made it do 55mph. After that I had a Scorpion super Stinger, and a Arctic cat Puma, all the same story, no RPMS, for launche....hehe...

Also, inspect the rollers that the clutch weights contact! a flat spot in a roller can cause problems quickly!

My head is spinning with all this info, being a new diy sled rider. Lol I never had the money or place to ride now I can and have a 02 xedge 700 ves. It’s a great sled fast! What do I need to know on this sled with clutching and things? I know little to nothing on this topic.. I want to rebuild my clutch, or replace it. Have no idea how to get the belt off let alone work with the clutch. I was told it doesn’t take a clutch spreading tool. I need help, any and all would be great! Thank you guys for the content awesome very thorough!

My skidoo it takes me about 1 minute to adjust it up or down 200 rpm.. and I love that.. less than a minute..
i run bmp goldstar weights and they are so easy to adjust, just throw in a little magnet and call it a day lol.
Thats really cool. You can't beat the adjustability of the aftermarket weights.
Replacing primary spring every 500 miles is super conservative. Unless your spring has plastic deformation (permanent damage) or a physical crack, there should be no reason why that spring is losing strength after 500 miles. I'd say inspect every 500 miles and replace as needed. Great video by this team, though. 1g per 1000' is spot on for the 800/850 guys.

2001 polaris 550F, what needs to be done to make the clutch engage sooner, seems like the RPM is quite high before it moves the sled
Go to a lighter initial weight on the primary spring.

How can i know, as a secondary sled owner make sure my clutches are good without paying for service?
Can you talk about characteristics of the sled? as the typical characteristic of brp with extreme bottom. or Arctic with zero bottom but good power at the top...

I have a racing clutch in my rz6000. The spring is a 170 / 330 and I have 60g notched cams. can I switch my cams to unnotched cams and maybe the spring too, so engagement won't be so harsh?

Is skidoo the only one u can adjust in less than 30 seconds with a twist of a Allen wrench..
How do you tune older clutches, I have a 98 powder special and I don't know how to tune them..
I don’t really know but based on what they said in the video I would bet that inspecting the clutches and replacing worn parts would be a good place to start.
Much of what is talked about in this video applies to any CVT clutched machine, new or old
its hard to listen/take advice to/from the guy who says he replaces primary spring every 250 fucking miles.

Jared isn't a racer really, rather a very aggressive mountain rider that likes very huh horsepower
The point is you have to keep an eye on it. The primary spring is a wear item.
See if I got this right: if the primary spring is worn is very "jumpy" and agressive and not smooth when taking off? My sled does exactly that. Are there any other sled behavior I should look out for?
Well made ot halfway... both the clutch vids are very hard to watch waaaaaay to mich rambling.
You made them nervous with your over excited attitude. Maybe calm down a bit?
Best move you can do is throw that team secondary in the dumpster just a piece of shit ,the best tuned team only lost 14mph very inefficient clutch
