  • Messing around with my 26" Ludwig kick drum in this video. Takes a leg to get the air moving in it, but it's FUN!!

    Hey Joel, what's the hi hat and cymbal over the rack tom you're using?

    • @recordingdotpizza
      @recordingdotpizza  Год назад

      The hi-hats in this video are 14" Sabian XSR Monarch, and the crash above the rack tom is a 20" Paiste Giant Beat 'Thin' multi-purpose (crash, basically, though I believe they refer to it as multi-purpose model).

    What is the ride cymbal?

      24" Zildjian Ping Ride, late 70s 'hollow logo'. Got it last year as part of a bundle of drum bits I snagged off Craigslist locally. It's big, and a tad unruly, but it's fun!!!

    Hey Joel - what kind of batter head are you using for this 26"?

    • @recordingdotpizza
      @recordingdotpizza  2 года назад +1

      For this video I had a coated Emperor on the batter side with a strip of felt stretched off center, horizontally, below the beaters. I generally keep the batter pretty slack for this drum. Front head is a Ludwig 'heavy.' I don't believe Ludwig makes these anymore (I think Remo makes Ludwig heads now). It's a truly heavy head, probably a 14mil, single ply. Internal muffling was a piece of 1" thick foam (taken from a packing container years ago), about 14" long, by 12" wide. Perfect for just touching the bottom of both heads without any tension. That's about it.

    Is that a converted marching bass drum?

    • @recordingdotpizza
      @recordingdotpizza  Год назад +2

      Yep. 1969 Ludwig. I put period correct spurs on it (but left the wrap... it has so much SPIRIT! ;)

      Love an old 26” Base Drum! It would be GREAT if you could put the exact sizes 26” x ? depth 📏 in your video 📹 description so us fellow Drummers know exactly what size drums we’re hearing 🎧. Thx

      26x14. 1969 marching bass drum, converted with spurs. 3-ply (maple/poplar/maple) with natural interior. And, of course, the killer orange/blue/orange sparkle color scheme!! :)
