Hey Dave, I'm thinking around $2,500. The truck was only driven a little over 10,000 miles a year, and overall it's in really good condition. The rust is a problem, but this truck can be taken to a second-tier or third-tier used car lot and it will be snapped up by somebody who needs a pickup truck, for a couple of years and with that motor, that motor itself is worth a bunch of money in my opinion. P.S. Bring that truck down here to Georgia. Other than the once a year Atlanta ice storm, we fine with the 2 wheel drive. Love you, Jersey.
Main problem is 2wd. Where the aftermarket temp gauge is normally would be the 4wd selector. The exhaust manifold needs to be replaced and often they break the studs. I'd say as it sits it would sell for around $5k around here. Trade in value would probably be $1500-$2k. If it doesn't already have the problems expect some brake line issues, transmission cooler line issues, the fuel pump solenoid under the bed of the truck is notorious for corrosion causing a no-start.
If I was the dealership, I would say a fair trade in value would be between $800 - $ 1, 000, considering that aside from the rust issues, front tires & exhaust leak, it's still a solid running truck, as you stated. In this day & age, 143 k on odometer isn't that bad. BTW, even down here in Southern Ocean County, I've seen quite a few Schumacher emblems & license plate frames, on the back of Chevys. 😊
I am thinking $3k trade value. The rust really hurts it in my opinion. I am guessing it is a 4.6 V8 since it runs well. The 5.4 3-valve were very prone to cam phaser issues if you were not religious with your oil changes.
Easiest fix for phaser issue was oil changes of 5w30. Epa bs forced Ford to 5w20 to get mpg required. And updated plastic phasers were made available early 2018 and switching to put issue to rest. 300k engines all day with torque to pull.
“To us this is a $500 trade. It’s going to go in one door and out the other.” Can you tell us what did the last two trade in vehicles eventually sell for at auction? Did they ever sell?
Hey Dave! My family and I bought that White Chevrolet Tahoe Premier 2023. Could you make a video going over the Tahoe or Suburban , I saw you did one on the suburban but it doesn’t have specific things on the buttons and on the full system. One main thins is what the -L+ is for on the gear shifter
Ford calls the extended cab a Supercab; crew cab is a Supercrew. Dealer trade-in value is $500.00 all day long for that auction bound truck. Being only a 2WD does not help its value. What vehicle did the customer buy?
I live in central California and one of the few perks of living in this state is we don’t have rusty vehicles. I have a 19 year old Silverado without an ounce of rust. On that truck because if the rust issues I’m guessing a trade value of $2,000.
I would say $3k-$3,500. It’s in great shape for the year compared to Northern MI where I live. There would be large rust holes through it by now if it lived here. lol 4.6 is a great motor and there are lots of miles left in it. 2wd in MI would kill its resale value though. A dealer here would probably list it for sale (with new front tires) for about $8,500.
Hey Dave. I’m going to say you tried to offer $1500 for the trade, but after negotiating you agreed to somewhere around $2000-$2500 max, to make the deal happen.
Dave if they are purchasing a vehicle( which not sure if you mentioned, thats makes a difference with the numbers) if so I would say you are giving 3g just to get the other unknown deal done.
At my small car lot here in Michigan I would have probably given around $2,500 maybe up to $3,000 if I really wanted to make the deal on the vehicle they were interested in.
As I watched the video I was thinking around $1,500 or maybe a little more. Seems like a lot of rust to me (I’m in VA so I admit I don’t see cars that age that are rusted) and with an exhaust leak it would never pass emissions inspection.
With the overall condition I would say $4,500. Someone could buy it at auction and just use it as a beater or take the motor and transmission out and swap into a project type vehicle.
Id say around $1100.00. It really is a good work/farm truck. Thanks for the video. Noticed you have been posting more I appreciate that. You did not do the comment thing on this video.
In my area that truck should trade for around $4K+/-. You get something that old with low mileage, you have a sale for sure. In my area , the rust you see on that truck, would normally be there after only 3-4 years, unless someone takes extra care with the vehicle.
I know the dealership I just got hired at presents all the cool features on the sticker on the windshield but my worry is if I don't know how to use said features and a customer asks me to show them, any advice Dave? luckily I was hired at a Chevrolet dealership similar to you so I'm sure you can give me some good advice thanks
Dealer trade would be around $1k to at most $1,500. Dealer would then sell it for at least $8k or even higher. In Colorado, I’ve seen trucks with even higher mileage and body damage selling for at least $10k.
Ford calls this cab version a Supercab. Dealer trade is likely around $1500 to $2000. If it drives ok, it looks like it’s worth $4-$5k on the open market.
$2500 trade in value .. $5995 retail (with new tires and other fixes) The dealership can make a good $1500-$2000 profit. Cheap trucks are very hard to find.. and everyone wants a cheap pickup as a second car.
no highlighted comment today :( but hey Dave I got hired on the spot today at a Chevrolet dealership! one worry I have is do I need to study some Chevrolet vehicles so I know how to present all the cool features of certain vehicles to customers? because I just learned how to use stow n go seats and if I was selling a car and they asked me to show them how to use the stow n go seats I wouldn't be able to until today.. pretty worried about this
I would not pay nothing for that Ford trunk, but I will still take a guess. My guess for trade is $2200. I got 4600 for my 2014 Honda accord that was driven about 160,000 miles, but it better shape. I sold my to Carmax.
I have 2008 XLT SuperCab 4x4 with chrome pkg, tow pkg, and 5.4L V8 and 149k. Rusted bed over wheel wells. Interior is great. I would be thrilled to get $8k for it in private sale. The seller probably got $1,250 on a trade because I think I can get $3k for mine if I were to trade.
It's a 2010, and though it runs well and drives okay, there is the rust issue. The frame looks good with just surface rust. BUT a 13 year old truck....$750.
Rust is a bad sign when trying to sell it . Heck i traded in my 2017 Honda Ridgeline RST 65 k miles . Minor car fax accident. It went from a 23 to 24 k trade in to a 18 k trade in . My point is rust, age and mileage against this truck prob$ 1800.00
My brother recently tried to trade his 04 Silverado 2500HD work truck for a 2015 Sierra HD and the dealer offered $1k with 140k miles. If I had to guess a trade in value on the ford I’d say about $1k-$1,500.
Dave, I'm gonna be the negatibe Nellie here. With used car sales down, and wholesale prices falling, I gonna say you will be hard pressed to even get a bid on that truck. So, if you get a bid, you might want to let it go.
I'm guessing $2,500 plus or minus. Hard to tell what a basic work truck is going for these days. I think lower price vehicles like this will always have a ready market. Not everyone can or wants to spend 70,000 on a truck and then use it like a truck.I'm guessing the retail price is around 5K so you all sell it for 3K, make 500 on the deal plus the profit on the one you sold to the guy who traded it in and the buying lot makes a couple thousand, everyone (except the schmuck who traded it) wins.
If you gave $1,000 bucks for that truck, you did him a favor. That rust and not being 4x4 kills it. But people trading in a car need to be careful because salesmen can play games. You could have given him 15K for that rust bucket if you were really getting him good on his new truck. When trading in you need to look at the entire deal.
Well, I'm from Up North so being scared of rust. We'll turn a Sissy into you as well.As being scared of mold . If it hasn't got into the frame, the rest is cosmetics. It's like Going home with a 10 waking up with a 5. I have a new challenge. If you have a truck, do it out for 30 days, total 30 days then ask about the quality of another truck. One was just a little cancer. We'll see, I think the truck's worth its weight and gold. This comes from I got three
One year ago Carvana would have offered $13,000.
Hey Dave, I'm thinking around $2,500. The truck was only driven a little over 10,000 miles a year, and overall it's in really good condition. christ these dealers are cheap
$1000 for scrap.
Was this the trade in on the Colorado
Hey Dave...great video btw.Hope to see more like em...im going 1850 on the f150 to make the deal..
Retail maybe $9000 in NJ. Fair trade value maybe $6500. My experience with dealership trades value maybe $69.
I am thinking $3k trade value. The rust really hurts it in my opinion. I am guessing it is a 4.6 V8 since it runs well. The 5.4 3-valve were very prone to cam phaser issues if you were not religious with your oil changes.

About a 1000 drive it in the junkyard around me.
Truck perfect for starting a small landscaping business.

Do more videos like this please!!!
$3300 as is. Now if he would have spent 10 minutes to vacuum the hair and 10 years of decayed french fries out, maybe $3600.
Ford calls the extended cab a Supercab; crew cab is a Supercrew. Dealer trade-in value is $500.00 all day long for that auction bound truck. Being only a 2WD does not help its value. What vehicle did the customer buy?
A dealership would want 28,595.00. Trade in value 1200.00.
I live in central California and one of the few perks of living in this state is we don’t have rusty vehicles. I have a 19 year old Silverado without an ounce of rust. On that truck because if the rust issues I’m guessing a trade value of $2,000.

An easy 4 on a used lot. 3 at auction. So you probably gave him 2. You become an everyday poster keep it up.
Are you planning to do a tour of the LTZ behind you? Looks pretty
That truck showed up as I was filming along with 3 more Traverses, 3 Bolts (sold) and a Tahoe I sold last month.
@@DaveBsellsChevy cool

$1000. Its a beater. The fact that it's trashed inside, that tells you maintenance was a after thought.
As I watched the video I was thinking around $1,500 or maybe a little more. Seems like a lot of rust to me (I’m in VA so I admit I don’t see cars that age that are rusted) and with an exhaust leak it would never pass emissions inspection.
What did the customer buy to replace it?
$1500 because he didnt clean it before trading it in. Work truck or not, at least run a vacuum thru it or blow the leaves out of the bed.
Boosting the algorithm
Trick question it really depends what he traded it on and if there was any gm trade cash. Im thinking you went 4K on it
With the overall condition I would say $4,500. Someone could buy it at auction and just use it as a beater or take the motor and transmission out and swap into a project type vehicle.
What did he trade it in on ? $2000 trade value
Id say around $1100.00. It really is a good work/farm truck. Thanks for the video. Noticed you have been posting more I appreciate that. You did not do the comment thing on this video.
Yea, totally forgot but then decided maybe I'll just end the "Dealership Life" vlogs with the comment highlight

1001 it’s like the price is right, are we playing plinko next
I know the dealership I just got hired at presents all the cool features on the sticker on the windshield but my worry is if I don't know how to use said features and a customer asks me to show them, any advice Dave? luckily I was hired at a Chevrolet dealership similar to you so I'm sure you can give me some good advice thanks
1k to 2k in trade given the rust issues tires and just general condition of the truck.
Dealer trade would be around $1k to at most $1,500. Dealer would then sell it for at least $8k or even higher. In Colorado, I’ve seen trucks with even higher mileage and body damage selling for at least $10k.
mann i lived in the south west my hole life i never seen rust like the vehicles from the north east
I'd say it's good for parts cause you'll make more money out of it that way. That 4.6 has baby miles it could be reused for another truck.
Ford calls this cab version a Supercab. Dealer trade is likely around $1500 to $2000. If it drives ok, it looks like it’s worth $4-$5k on the open market.
OK Dave tell us how much you offered in trade?
I’m going to say $3500 - $5000 depending on the deal. Are we talking what you showed him or ACV?
$2500. What happened to the Paul Walker look?
$2500 trade in value .. $5995 retail (with new tires and other fixes) The dealership can make a good $1500-$2000 profit. Cheap trucks are very hard to find.. and everyone wants a cheap pickup as a second car.

Dave, you would have to pay me to take that gem!
I guess I’m just a little surprised the guy did not clean up that vehicle first… trade in may be in the area of $2750
$500 trade allowance, probably will get $300-$600 at the auction.
I used to be up on this sort of thing. Today, guessing, I would say about $3,000-$3,500.
Worth more then any Chinese Chevy on the lot. Guy with a truck always has “friends” and work
$3950. Since you are going to wholesale it. Probably sells for 4500-4800 wholesale and 7999 retail
Auction: “I’ll give you $50 to keep it” lol
I would say you paid the owner $900.00 or $1,200. There was no way it would be higher than that because of the age of rust and the exhaust leak.
Down here in the south that rust bucket maybe 1k at best.
I’m thinking $2500. But with the rust issues I wouldn’t pay that much for it myself.
Give the Old Ford $2500 toward a New Chevy. I wonder if it would pass State inspection?
I am thinking trade in value 8500. Retail about 12,500
Rust is a bad sign when trying to sell it . Heck i traded in my 2017 Honda Ridgeline RST 65 k miles . Minor car fax accident. It went from a 23 to 24 k trade in to a 18 k trade in . My point is rust, age and mileage against this truck prob$ 1800.00
3000 trade, get 4500 at the auction, resell it on a pay buy lot retail 6500
Hey Dave, what did he trade it in for? Another truck?
Colorado
$500 because you will definitely wholesale it.
It probably won't sell at the first auction cuz it might be a lot of money to fix
But I would say $5700 is worth the truck
$2500. Take a little hit on the truck and create good will for the next deal. It’s a no brainer for you Dave.
1,500 is my guess. A dealership isn't going to give a lot to a truck that's rusty like this.
My brother recently tried to trade his 04 Silverado 2500HD work truck for a 2015 Sierra HD and the dealer offered $1k with 140k miles. If I had to guess a trade in value on the ford I’d say about $1k-$1,500.
That is drive it in the junkyard price. You can get an easy 2 for the 6.0 engines nowadays.1500 for 4L80 tranys
Don't know, but I envision your store listing it for $49,995.
$4,000, KBB at $3,357 average trade in, auction prices or black book probably $2,500.
KBB says about $3,500 for trade in value. Given that, I'd say about $2,250.
Dave, I'm gonna be the negatibe Nellie here. With used car sales down, and wholesale prices falling, I gonna say you will be hard pressed to even get a bid on that truck. So, if you get a bid, you might want to let it go.
In this crazy car market probably $4,500.
I guess I'm generous but I offer $5K for that 143K miles truck. That is if the transmission is still good.
Assuming it hasn't been in any accidents, I'd likely offer $2500 - $2700 in trade.
$2000 on trade max. Auction price net after fees 3150
Trade in value Probably around 2.1-2.4k based on that condition.
If me, i would go to carvana for free money. Easily 4k
Dang! My '03 has 215k on it and less rust!! Dealers would give $1000-$1500 on trade.
8 K all day - but with the rust 6k
Whats funny in my area they would sell this truck for just under 10k probably offer u 3k for trade in
1000$ trade in value 15K retails at 9% APR
5 to 6k depending on the rust. 2wd really drops its value, if it was 4wd its 10k easy
$2400 as trade, 1600 at auction . retail $3500 ask
7500. Best luck. 😊
Probably 2-3k the 2wd drive really hurts. And you forgot the comment spot light..lol
I'm guessing $2,500 plus or minus. Hard to tell what a basic work truck is going for these days. I think lower price vehicles like this will always have a ready market. $1000-$1500 expecting to bring maybe $2500-$3000 at auction.
Well, I'm from Up North so being scared of rust. We'll turn a Sissy into you as well.As being scared of mold . If it hasn't got into the frame, the rest is cosmetics. It's like Going home with a 10 waking up with a 5. I have a new challenge.

This comes from I got three
retail here in quebec Canada 3k.WeJUST LOVE RUST LOLLLL.
$2500-$3000 is my best guess
Given it’s only 2wd and the rust, $1800 trade in
Would do a 2750
6k it pulled I bet
$1500-2k somewhere in there
$2,500. I'm be surprised if it was more
This day in age $3300
I think $6800 at auction.
I bet someone would ask $9k for that on FB Marketplace lol.
I would say $1500-$2500 possibly 3k given it’s age and everything call it fair condition
I'm thinking about $1050
