@@Rose-kx9tw Only person who thinks that sounds good is Helen Keller man. Putting a wah on barre chords and whole note pentatonic solos don’t sound too good
Okay, so while this isn't very great, I'll give the dude the benefit and say that even learning how to play a solo with pentatonic scales is not something that comes easy for a lot of people playing guitar. Being able to play like this does take a couple years of practice, and sure, while he is no Joe Pass, we guitarists shouldn't be discouraging people from learning, or not being able to jump modes and hear chord changes and do all of the stuff people who are more advanced take for granted. This isn't pro level, but it's not trash either. It's just beginner-intermediate improv.
It’s beginner lmao. I remember I was on discord and some kid never heard of the pentatonic scale. I taught him the basic position and within 4 minutes he was jamming to a RUclips backing track better than this guy on his own song
@@badaudio9685 Sure, but what I'm trying to articulate is that different people learn at different rates. To establish the foundations necessary to use the pentatonic scale semi-effectively, it can take people a while. Ill be there from January 12th until around June. I fucked up, got my self evicted as well as my father. I disappeared for months. im a high school dropout and a drug addict. I was told ill either end up dead or in prison by the time I'm 20 years old. I don't post about my life but this song prevoked me to do so. Kells, thank you. You're the reason I decided to fix my family relationships and better myself. I've been listening to your music since the a few months after you dropped 100 Words and Running. In this song, "Home Soon" you say "We just watch the sun, turn into the moon. sit back and hope that these December nights turn into June" Like I said at the beginning I get out in June with a GED and my fathers trust back. Thank you for everything your lyrics have gotten me through. I appreciate it. - Shane Weaver. @MachineGunKelly
he is playing. its a compilation of his jam sessions from multiple shows put over 1 audio track. so he is playing, just different clips over the same track make it look off. just bad video editing if anything.
The way he changes outfits without even pausing this totally improvised solo is genuinely impressive, I see where the hype is coming from, starting to become a true Kellyhead
I understand how some guitarist takes guitar seriously but like instead of just bashing him encourage him to do better because we've all (at least those who plays guitar) have been terrible at it from the beginning. He's no guitarist no, but he's progressing.
He’s not amazing but he’s definitely good at guitar. If you hate this you’re just genuinely a hater. He’s doing so many good things for rock/music in general rn.
Dude good at guitar a beginners level is not someone good at guitar listen to the solo in I’ll be there for you by Bon Jovi it maybe pretty simple to play but still that’s intermediate playing seize the day avenged sevenfold etc now go listen to what a guitar is supposed to sound like not a lil Wayne tribute
I actually give this kid credit it's obvious he's been playing guitar for a very short time and to have that much confidence playing the utmost basic guitar notes drowned out by efx. I could never pull that off with integrity I would feel like a fool just playing basic notes and power chords and making those silly faces I just..... I couldn't do it and I would feel like a complete poser
I think thats what most people are kind of saying here. It's NOT that he sucks...because he does, we all know that. he knows that. It's that literally... he has not a single humble bone in his body. He is smoking his cigarettes and playing the guitar with the same energy and attitude as Hendrix or SRV. The issue is that those guys had the talent and time to back it up. This guy just wants money and pussy. Hes a poser. You are right. 1000% Thats what people are calling out here.
As someone who music (almost) only circles around metal and hard rock, I have to give credit where it is due. I knew who MGK was for a while, because I love his interviews and my friends are his fans. I have to say, I really dig him. I like that he is not just a wannabe thug who is "hard as hell". Instead he is someone who has a passion for rap, but love for rock that he doesn't sway from or try to hide. MGK, you have made an admirer out of me. P.S. If he ever stop rapping, he could go onto be a rock star. He has the attitude, and style of one down to a tee.
Playing music, especially guitar, isn’t about technical skill. It’s about playing stuff that sounds cool, and MGK does that quite well in this video. Bravo.
imdanny2469 emotions? Are you not hearing the garbage that he is trying to play He Is perhaps talented when it comes to wrapping but the guitar playing is garbage and you people that are f****** thing it's so sexy obviously have no idea what a guitarist should sound like
Josh Boggs Yeah MGK was awesome! but way to many people fighting and being disrespectful he ended up walking off stage. so now hes most likely not coming back to my town anytime soon lol
Livin' under a rock, just found out MGK can sound really pleasant! Is this an improvisation? And does someone know which song starts right at the end? Peace!
I give him credit where it's due. He definitely has the love for it and that's all it takes. B.b king played the same five notes his entire career. Go find out why.
To be fair without the excessive wah + delay this would of sounded extremely mediocre, but I gotta give it to the man, this has been the best guitar playing I've seen to come out of any of these non rock musicians! I think the best part is that he looks happy, like he's playing with feeling. So for everyone getting angsty about him playing pentatonic scales/chromatic descending power chords, just compare this to Lil Wayne, Johnny Depp, or Nick Jonas. Also I hope none of you ignore the bassist slapping the ever loving shit out of that 5 string lmaooo.
@@morkami9521 I was looking at what Schecter had on their website and saw his pink tele knockoff and was like "oh cool I didn't know he was actually a good guitarist" so am here, sadly.

This gave me a bit of respect for the guy. He looks like he's having fun jamming away on his instrument and whatever I think of the Binge EP I can't knock that at all. Just wish he'd put some guitar on the album might have helped differentiate the tracks a bit.
Wow. Sounds like my first solo record session (of a simple melody) on my cell phone because I knew what I was playing was absolute garbage. I guess when you are already famous, you don't notice these things.
MGK is way more fun and exciting and Eminem lol everyone’s all about how ‘Em made MGK switch genres and everything , but now look what he’s doing. Getting #1 billboard spots and shredding guitar solos that Em will never do in his entire life. And he has Megan Fox 😂 Id rather go to an MGK concert over Eminem any day!! ❤
Evan Yeah man How? I’m just saying what the image reminds me of. I’m not comparing the musical ability of MGK to Jimi Hendrix. Stop trying to turn something positive to something negative asswipe!
Evan Yeah man Again, wasn’t comparing anybody and it’s pretty hypocritical of you to get mad at me for calling you names when you do it right back. Especially given that you are saying that I don’t respect Jimi fucking Hendrix, the Patron Saint of Guitars. He’s my personal idol too. I said that I was reminded of Jimi Hendrix by something I saw here on this video, that is nowhere near the same as disrespecting him. Unless you have a problem with me noting that about MGK in particular, which would then lead me to believe that you are some random Eminem STAN dickrider who just wanted to start some conflict on the internet. In which case, pretty immature of you. But if there is some other underlying reason for you to come at me and try and make something positive that I said into something negative and add a context to it that didn’t exist, that’s leagues more childish. So “yeah man”, you are an Asswipe. Thanks for playing.
Evan Yeah man Lol, not mad. Just trying to educate you on the difference between a similar vibe and a downright comparison. You are clearly the one who was butthurt otherwise you would not have been saying “such disrespect towards Jimi Hendrix”. But then when I school you, that’s when you backed out and said it was just a joke?😂 That’s the intellect of a 15 year old reddit boy.

@@kingexclusivo lmao still he is sayin true and above that 20 mil listeners doesn't matters either, they could be idiots like him 😂

He is one with the Guitar. Saw him in Leeds, played with a broken arm. Guy is the genuine article. Best of luck to him! YO MGK COME TO MANCHESTER UK MAN
does anyone have a link to the track or music he’s playing, i wanna give justice to this interlude not just wah chord progressions
I would have been so bored if I had to play this on guitar but he was having a great time 😂😂😂😂
All of you are just hating because he’s a rapper that’s playing guitar. I respect that he’s branching out it’s always awesome to see that. That’s how music evolves, trying new things. He isn’t the greatest but who gives a shit? He makes it work and it sounded good.
There’s other videos of this concert. This dude shreds!!’
I really want to see him live
Do it as soon as you can, he's a real monster on the stage, a real rockstar, just a beatiful show :)
I would fucking love to see him, but im from portugal, he wouldnt come to portugal i think
same I would love to see him I. London it would be a dream come true
Wouldn't call that much of a solo. Extremely easy lead part with a whammy pedal to make up for the simplistic rifffing
Ghost in the Machine compare lil Wayne's solo to this then..
They are both bad. MGK has just maybe held a guitar in his hands at least a few times before this, Wayne clearly is just out of touch with the world lol
hiding behind the wah pedal to make it "sound good"
you can tell he really wants to be steve vai
He's not smart enough to buy a digitech whammy. That's probably the cheapest cry baby u can get
Maybe you take what you've learned for granted
(on my grandmas account who is the angel who took me in after i became homeless) im 16, leaving to a youth corrections/alternitave school where ill be getting my GED. Tomorrow.
If you still listen to this dope fucking rift, you know Kells can damn near do anything/ everything. MY FAVORITE ARTIST 😎🤘🏾🔥
The real star is that bassist putting in work
No the real star is the guitar for taking all that abuse
Anyone else noticed the guy behind him actually playing the guitar not just a single chord
Heard ya on Howard Stern.. checked out your chops on guitar. Hope you've learned more leads than pentatonic scale by now. Keep rockin bud!
he is playing. its a compilation of his jam sessions from multiple shows put over 1 audio track. so he is playing, just different clips over the same track make it look off. just bad video editing if anything.
I can’t believe I forgot ab this. I love this video
That’s hysterical
Oh my God!MGK Just played 5 notes and wahed!
The way he changes outfits without even pausing this totally improvised solo is genuinely impressive, I see where the hype is coming from, starting to become a true Kellyhead
I'm sorry but 1:25 was funny af 😂😂😂💖
King lmaoo I laughed so hard 😂😂😂😂
I understand how some guitarist takes guitar seriously but like instead of just bashing him encourage him to do better because we've all (at least those who plays guitar) have been terrible at it from the beginning. He's no guitarist no, but he's progressing.
Saw him do this in Michigan, mad skills
Maybe Steve Vai or Malmsteen can learn a thing or 2 from him 🤘
Watching this stoned makes me really think that mgk is on stage all stoned too
91ROYO always, I saw him live nov 6th. Smoked like 5 L's on stage
sean jacobs Thats so dope man
He’s not amazing but he’s definitely good at guitar. If you hate this you’re just genuinely a hater. He’s doing so many good things for rock/music in general rn.
Bro this is not good guitar playing😂
Dude good at guitar a beginners level is not someone good at guitar listen to the solo in I’ll be there for you by Bon Jovi it maybe pretty simple to play but still that’s intermediate playing seize the day avenged sevenfold etc now go listen to what a guitar is supposed to sound like not a lil Wayne tribute
@@johnrobert3366 it’s not that it’s simple, it’s that it’s simple yet he’s still fucking it up.
Lmao what
@@noneofyourbusiness9763 doubt you’re decent at guitar
When you finally get your first lick down then play it on the wah pedal over and over 🤣🤣🤣
nice musical evolution by mgk playing lead guitar is all emotion and that seems to be not in short supply
Thats what people are calling out here.
sick!! so sick!! my bucket list is to watch MGK live!!
Mita Widyastuti same
Mita Widyastuti you need to!
Mita Widyastuti i saw him live once and it was the best concert.
Mita Widyastuti he's fuckin awesome !! seen him a year ago
Mita Widyastuti I just saw him in Philly Nov. 4 (after trying for years to see him) he is absolutely amazing live.
which song is he playing?
As someone who music (almost) only circles around metal and hard rock, I have to give credit where it is due. I knew who MGK was for a while, because I love his interviews and my friends are his fans. I have to say, I really dig him. I like that he is not just a wannabe thug who is "hard as hell". Instead he is someone who has a passion for rap, but love for rock that he doesn't sway from or try to hide.
MGK, you have made an admirer out of me.
P.S. If he ever stop rapping, he could go onto be a rock star. He has the attitude, and style of one down to a tee.
amazing
Alisa demi what exactly is amazing? His fake shitty solo?
Playing music, especially guitar, isn’t about technical skill. It’s about playing stuff that sounds cool, and MGK does that quite well in this video. Bravo.
You can see all the emotions that he layed down in his music, this is why i love Machine Gun Kelly. Lace up, double x
imdanny2469 emotions? Are you not hearing the garbage that he is trying to play He Is perhaps talented when it comes to wrapping but the guitar playing is garbage and you people that are f****** thing it's so sexy obviously have no idea what a guitarist should sound like

Ohh that emotion on his face
Paradoxically, when money acknowledges its limitations
Could someone let MGK know his guitar isn’t even plugged In. The dude in the background is the one playing the solo lol
you didnt do something there
No, he is playing. It just sucks
saw this live last night and MGK ended up walking off stage from to many people fighting at concert
kylesplinter1 no shit?
Josh Boggs Yeah MGK was awesome! but way to many people fighting and being disrespectful he ended up walking off stage. so now hes most likely not coming back to my town anytime soon lol
we ended up with hour and half show before he walked off. then they started packing stuff up
Kingston ?
yeah
Livin' under a rock, just found out MGK can sound really pleasant! Is this an improvisation? And does someone know which song starts right at the end? Peace!
I got front row for his concert and it was the most amazing experience. He is by far the best live performer!!!
Josh Kiszka has entered the chat
Is isn't a performance. It's a few clips badly stitched together. And I really hope they dubbed the worst audio they had over it because it's awful.
I give him credit where it's due. He definitely has the love for it and that's all it takes. B.b king played the same five notes his entire career. Go find out why.
Yup B.B’s Box
how tf is mgk comparable to bb king
@@501Hoggin12 exactly. Guy played five notes his entire career and people adored it
To be fair without the excessive wah + delay this would of sounded extremely mediocre, but I gotta give it to the man, this has been the best guitar playing I've seen to come out of any of these non rock musicians!
I honestly could watch this video all day. you can see the love for music on his face every note he hits. EST 4 LIFE Lace up 19XX

There is no justice in the world that this guy has a signature guitar. You fucking kidding me? lol
this video was literally posted in 2016 lmao
@@morkami9521 I was looking at what Schecter had on their website and saw his pink tele knockoff and was like "oh cool I didn't know he was actually a good guitarist" so am here, sadly.
I had the pleasure of experiencing this live when he came to Las Vegas. The whole show was, Just EPIC. A MOVIE. I'm STILL not over that night. Kells should post from that night because he was even more turnt than this! I uploaded it. I need to see him again asap. - Mila
While I'm Cleveland that guitar solo I witnessed was beautiful. Including the other guitarist I forget his name was fucking jamming behind his back and with his damn mouth! Love you kells and the whole crew, y'all are talented as hell
Damn. It’s a lot of hate in the comments. I personally don’t care for mgk and I’m from Cleveland. This isn’t bad tho. He’s having fun. It should all be about having fun man.
You play really well, you should be a rock star
He’s a fake rockstar
@@brandonlatus8372 like you will ever even be a “fake rockstar” 💀
His faces are amazing
This gave me a bit of respect for the guy. He looks like he's having fun jamming away on his instrument and whatever I think of the Binge EP I can't knock that at all. Just wish he'd put some guitar on the album might have helped differentiate the tracks a bit.
Jamming away you mean playing horribly and covering it with a wah pedal
What song is this????
That smile MGK did at 1:13 when she came up on stage was priceless.😂
how can em and he compete like seriously Mgk is from a whole different world
Sees MGK with the blunt in his mouth:
“Jimi Hendrix vibes anyone?”😂
Jonathan Anderson Yup
Such disrespect to Hendrix
Evan Yeah man
How? I’m just saying what the image reminds me of. I’m not comparing the musical ability of MGK to Jimi Hendrix. Stop trying to turn something positive to something negative asswipe!
Evan Yeah man
Again, wasn’t comparing anybody and it’s pretty hypocritical of you to get mad at me for calling you names when you do it right back.
Evan Yeah man
Lol, not mad. Just trying to educate you on the difference between a similar vibe and a downright comparison. You are clearly the one who was butthurt otherwise you would not have been saying “such disrespect towards Jimi Hendrix”. But then when I school you, that’s when you backed out and said it was just a joke?😂
That’s the intellect of a 15 year old reddit boy.
fantastic!!
Idk how much of it is actual jamming.....but props
Me at 17 practicing bending the strings lmao
He’s feeling himself like he’s grooving on guitar yet it’s so bad and he’s playing three chords. Hahahaha. The wah is doing all the work
As a guitar player i respect the fact you can tell he actually put some work into his playing
awesome
Plays three notes
Mgk: “Think Im now good enough to have my own Ibanez Prestige mass produced.”🤣
